One of the funniest things about Star Trek right now is how adamant the writers are that the Enterprise has exactly 203 crew members at any given time.
Way back in the very first Star Trek episode, TOS: The Cage, Captain Pike says:
PIKE: My own yeoman and two others dead, seven injured ... You bet I'm tired. You bet. I'm tired of being responsible for 203 lives. I'm tired of deciding which mission is too risky and which isn't, and who's going on the landing party and who doesn't, and who lives and who dies.
Pike being responsible for 203 lives would indicate there should be 204 crew members including the captain, right? Unless Pike is including himself in that 203 count? Not to mention he just lost 3 crew members.
In DIS: Brother, Burnham says:
BURNHAM: Scans show 203 crew members aboard. The vessel's entire complement is alive.
Buuuut, we find out Spock took leave. I guess someone immediately transferred to take Spock's place?
In SNW: A Space Adventure Hour, we get the 203 figure again:
NUMBER ONE: Do you know how many crew we have on board? 203. Specifically, 203 of the finest Starfleet has to offer.
This is despite the fact that the Enterprise has obviously lost many redshirts in the line of duty while also gaining new crew members like Scotty.
Once again, SNW: What is Starfleet? repeats the 203 figure:

How is this 203 figure so stable!?
To make matters even more confusing, way back in TOS: Charlie X:
RAMART: Like a whole city in space, Charlie. Over four hundred in the crew of a starship, aren't there, Captain? KIRK: Four hundred and twenty eight, to be exact.
Apparently Gene Roddenberry more than doubled the crew number in the updated show bible. In TOS: The Ultimate Computer, Dr. Richard Daystrom rounds the number to 430:
DAYSTROM: You can't understand. You're frightened because you can't understand it. I'm going to show you. I'm going to show all of you. It takes four hundred thirty people to man a starship.
Going from 203 to 430 crew members would certainly explain Dax's comment in DS9: Trials and Tribble-ations!
DAX: They really packed them in on these old ships.
Also, a graphic in DIS: Brother mistakenly says "Ship's Compliment: 430 (43 officers, 387 enlisted)". This info was pulled from Franz Joseph's Star Trek Star Fleet Technical Manual (1975):

Why do so many white comic book characters have electric powers?
The Captain Marvel family:

Most of the Flash family:

Johnny Thunder:
Lightning Lad:

Thor:

Eel:

Electro:

The Shocker:

Bolt:

Electrocutioner:

Jonni Thunder:

Livewire:

Jenny Sparks:

Even Superman wasn't safe:

Like, is there a reason for this?
Seems really weird that this many white characters would have electric powers.

I pre-ordered "The Superman Box Set" last Christmas
It has finally arrived, and I'm pleasantly surprised that it has two more graphic novels than originally advertised!
All-Star Superman (2005-08) by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely
Kingdom Come (1996) by Mark Waid and Alex Ross
Superman for All Seasons (1998) by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale
Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? (1985-86) by Alan Moore and Curt Swan
[new!] Superman: Up in the Sky (2018-19) by Tom King and Andy Kubert
[new!] Superman Vol. 1: Supercorp (2023) by Joshua Williamson and Jamal Campbell.
If you want to get into Superman comics, this is a great place to start. I've heard many good things about these stories and I'm glad I held off on buying any of them until this collection was announced.
The retail price is a steep US$85, but I was lucky to get it for US$58 through Thriftbooks.
