For anyone wondering: faroff is a very fluffy comic about two enemy soldiers Tobias and fenn who have been stationed on either side of a big border wall wich they have been at for several years whe one day the wall breaks and they meet (they also share the same cat)

Its a very sweet webtoon and I would 100% recommend it >.< GO READ IT OR I WILL STEAL YOUR SOUL

Hey! I really love your blog about Faroff, especially your analyses!!

I was wondering—what kind of music do you think Tobi (and Fenn) would be into in a modern AU? Personally, I can totally see Tobi being into Queen, the Bee Gees, Elton John, something like that. ("I Want to Break Free" from the Queen really fits him in my opnion) But I’d love to hear your take on it. :)

Now buckle in because I take these questions way more seriously than they need to be taken. 💀

First off, your ideas for bands Tobi would listen to are absolutely top tier, I can tell you have fantastic music taste! I listened to the song you mentioned (I Want To Break Free by Queen) and added it to my Faroff playlist because I agree with it being a Tobi song. However, I personally think Tobi would probably avoid listening to music that reminds him of his situation in life. He's said before that he listens to music as an escape, after all. Maybe when he's older and is in a healthier environment, though!

That's not to say I don't think he'd listen to the bands you recommended though. Tobias strikes me as the kinda guy who listens to a little bit of everything, and for some reason I do think he'd have a penchant for 60s-80s music (might be my own bias sneaking through there because I also like older music, although my older music tends to be more 40s-50s), so those bands would probably be on his playlist somewhere. Basically, I don't think he'd be completely closed off to any type of music, and you could probably find at least one song from every genre imaginable on his playlist.

As for Fenn, I think it heavily depends on how much modern AU Sona is like canon Sona. If we're assuming their laws are basically the same, the fact that music is so heavily regulated would probably have a huge impact on his taste. Before being introduced to other types of music (basically, before meeting Tobi) his music taste would, predictably, be whatever Sona permits. I'm actually imagining several old WWI songs, ironically considering this is supposed to be a modern AU. Think By Order of the King, Oh! It's a Lovely War, and Over There. I can provide specific songs for this because I also like listening to songs like that for their historical value.

However, after meeting Tobi and getting to hear other types of music...well, he'd have to build from the ground up. He'd have to go through alllll the super cringy music phases that the rest of us sorted out when we were 13. It'd probably start with whatever song he heard first, so likely some generic pop song he heard over the radio LMAO. It's actually really funny to me to imagine him being super into Taylor Swift at first (no offence to anyone here who likes Taylor Swift, just not a fan personally and the image of this 6'3 ripped dude blasting Taylor Swift at full volume is absolutely amazing to me.) He'd probably cycle through a bunch of different types of music before settling on a single music taste. However...I'm not sure what exactly that music taste would be. His music taste likely would be highly influenced by Tobi's, considering Tobi was the one introducing him to new music, but I do think he'd be a lot more picky than Tobi. If anyone else has any specific guesses you can offer them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (I will say that I can see his hopeless romantic ass having the sappiest love songs you've ever heard for his and Tobi's dates LMAOOO)

OKAY WOW you definitely didn't need to hear this whole spiel, but that's my answer! Hope this isn't too long :')
