Types of students as these coffees
all songs can be found on my dark academia playlist here
Double Espresso Shot: ‘In Your Dreams’ by Dark Dark Dark
fighting the enticing rounds of clouds that tempt you towards sleep when you have thunderous deadlines looming over you, handwriting that looks like hieroglyphics carved into your pages, hair tousled and lively paired with sore eyes and charcoal bags, pulling through for the golden star stickers
Iced Latte: ‘Rosie’ by The Kooks
embellished notes with jewel tones and angelic hues over titles, embroidering your playlists to create the perfect harmonies to motivate and support, raspberry juice stained cheeks as you watch the engrossed student in the library, soaking in the honeyed comfort of your marks
Cappuccino: ‘Fancy Shoes’ by The Walters
swimming through the caramel atmosphere of the warming coffee shop, resting in the bustle like a nesting bird as you work, rhythmic tapping on keyboard keys, detailed thoughts as you match your outfit to the subject you’ve decided to indulge your mind in, a stained mug which is never empty
Mocha Frappe: ‘Does It Ever Cross Your Mind’ by The Paper Kites
golden rays casting shadows over your page, pastel highlighters soaking through the writing, cornflower skies and light wash denim, soft distractions by marigold butterflies or watercoloured dragonflies, stacks of flashcards that assemble a miniature town of buildings for the bugs that watch you work
Americano With Milk: ‘October’ by George Ogilvie
finding you’re best at focusing when smothered by the moonlight that casts through the gaps in your curtains, artificial fireflies warming up the midnight coldness of your room, embracing the emotional support from a furry friend, feeling the hourglass rest and relaxing into the freedom
Flat White: ‘Happy Pills’ by Weathers
ignoring the work placed upon you and indulging yourself in a subject that flicks your interest into a golden sparkler, exciting days treasure hunting through book shops for hidden gems and nostalgic favourites, losing your mind in the fictional world you’re writing about and forgetting the imminent deadline of set work

an open letter
I feel too cowardly to do it outright in this moment. It’s very strange even after coming to terms with it and realizing that it was entirely my fault. I was a weaker person then, and I think you were weak too, and I let someone that made me feel complete and whole (who eventually nearly destroyed me) break us both further. You didn’t deserve that. I hate to think about all of the time you must have spent waiting, and wondering what you had done to make it happen, what part of it all was your doing. I’m so sorry.
I guess in this weird moment we have plenty of time to think about things, and let old feelings rise to the surface and simmer again. I don’t know why I’ve been thinking about you, and I want to reach out (if only I knew whether you’d be okay with that, but to answer that is to do precisely what I’m afraid of, now). Maybe it’s because I’ve already started putting back together two other friendships that were lost in time and petty things and I want to be able to do a third. We’re both actually adults now, so perhaps for me was an issue of immaturity, or maybe I just didn’t understand what you needed as a person and a friend and I interpreted that as someone who wasn’t good for my growth—but I was so terribly wrong. I was so blindsided by rose-tinted glasses that I couldn’t fathom how much more successful I could have been so much sooner if I had held on to your support and camaraderie.
But I didn’t. I let that get in the way, and then I moved across the country (twice), went to college, and learned so much more about who I was and who I’m going to likely end up being, and something is nagging at me telling me that you should have been a part of that, and I should have been the same for you. I kept those letters. They’re here somewhere with me. I kept the hasty drawings we did at my dad’s and I still laugh at cherry markers but I can’t /enjoy/ it because, whoof, I don’t deserve that at your expense. I don’t know. I guess guilt is making me write this, and part of me hopes you see it so I don’t have to face the facts head on, but I would rather that because it would mean no underhanded notes and back and forth and we could just?? Pick up??
I can’t asssume that would be the case, though. This is kind of an opening up of the dialogue, I guess. Maybe soon (maybe a day from now, a week, or maybe even twenty or thirty minutes) I’ll have the courage to say hello directly. Maybe from there I can say everything (or nothing) and we can move forward. I don't know. I’m so sorry.
Please understand that this isn’t an underhanded way of trying to convince you to crawl back. If you see this, your feelings, present or buried, are entirely valid, and you’re allowed to have whatever response to this that you feel is appropriate. I’m giving myself full responsibility here; I can do that now, with clearer eyes and the ability to admit that I did you wrong. If this disappears into the ether and goes nowhere, and I’ve written all of this out for no more purpose than to organize these thoughts and goad myself into acknowledging my feelings to know you again, then that’s okay, too.
Regardless, it feels good. I don’t have much of a sounding board for my thoughts anymore and my old journal blog hurts too much to look at to write anything new, and I doubt anyone has the password for that anymore, anyway. I don’t know. We’ll see what the future holds, I guess.
Wherever you are now, and whoever you are, I hope you’re well.
God, I hope you're well. I miss you.

I took the wrist pic for a different purpose but I went overboard with PS so let me just put this one out there first. If you’re doing photostudies especially when it comes to drawing people, you might want to do these on Photoshop.
Median first, then Sharpen it up.
It literally looks like your typical professional artstation-tier art and I bet you’d get a lot of good info out of stuff like it.
(You can use GIMP, Krita, and other photomanipulating programs if you can’t afford PS btw! Sad part is that I pirated ps actually adfadkfja)

How TV Cartoons Are Made - A (Mostly) Simplified Guide
When I was in school and wanted to work in animation, there was very little information about how cartoons are actually made. Even my professors at college knew very little about the industry as it is today. I’m sure it would’ve been better to study somewhere in California (like CalArts) to be better informed about this stuff, but I didn’t have that opportunity.
Nowadays, many kids in school have a dream career that they don’t really know much about. There’s a lot of missing bits of information and a lot of straight up lies that get circulated as fact as people try to scramble to put the pieces together on how cartoons for television are actually made.
I’ve been storyboarding for television for a while now, and there still aren’t clear resources for those wanting to get into the industry. I wanted to make the basics available to everyone, so here’s a quick rundown through the TV pipeline. Please note: all studios and productions are different. Even cartoons made within the same studio could have wildly different production guidelines. This is not a concrete explanation of how every cartoon is made; this is simply a generalized look at the “typical” television pipeline.
**DISCLAIMER** All images in this post have been sourced from blogs, twitters, scribd and flickr pages are publicly available, and no internal studio materials have been used that have not been already published publicly online. This post is influenced heavily by my own individual experience, as well as friends’.
With that said, this might be a lengthy read, so let’s go!

This is how I draw hands. I simplify the shape and then later I will add the necessary details. It makes it easier to get them right. But the only way to learn how to draw hands is to just keep drawing them.

Helpful things for action writers to remember
Sticking a landing will royally fuck up your joints and possibly shatter your ankles, depending on how high you’re jumping/falling from. There’s a very good reason free-runners dive and roll.
Hand-to-hand fights usually only last a matter of seconds, sometimes a few minutes. It’s exhausting work and unless you have a lot of training and history with hand-to-hand combat, you’re going to tire out really fast.
Arrows are very effective and you can’t just yank them out without doing a lot of damage. Most of the time the head of the arrow will break off inside the body if you try pulling it out, and arrows are built to pierce deep. An arrow wound demands medical attention.
Throwing your opponent across the room is really not all that smart. You’re giving them the chance to get up and run away. Unless you’re trying to put distance between you so you can shoot them or something, don’t throw them.
Everyone has something called a “flinch response” when they fight. This is pretty much the brain’s way of telling you “get the fuck out of here or we’re gonna die.” Experienced fighters have trained to suppress this. Think about how long your character has been fighting. A character in a fist fight for the first time is going to take a few hits before their survival instinct kicks in and they start hitting back. A character in a fist fight for the eighth time that week is going to respond a little differently.
ADRENALINE WORKS AGAINST YOU WHEN YOU FIGHT. THIS IS IMPORTANT. A lot of times people think that adrenaline will kick in and give you some badass fighting skills, but it’s actually the opposite. Adrenaline is what tires you out in a battle and it also affects the fighter’s efficacy - meaning it makes them shaky and inaccurate, and overall they lose about 60% of their fighting skill because their brain is focusing on not dying. Adrenaline keeps you alive, it doesn’t give you the skill to pull off a perfect roundhouse kick to the opponent’s face.
Swords WILL bend or break if you hit something hard enough. They also dull easily and take a lot of maintenance. In reality, someone who fights with a sword would have to have to repair or replace it constantly.
Fights get messy. There’s blood and sweat everywhere, and that will make it hard to hold your weapon or get a good grip on someone.
A serious battle also smells horrible. There’s lots of sweat, but also the smell of urine and feces. After someone dies, their bowels and bladder empty. There might also be some questionable things on the ground which can be very psychologically traumatizing. Remember to think about all of the character’s senses when they’re in a fight. Everything WILL affect them in some way.
If your sword is sharpened down to a fine edge, the rest of the blade can’t go through the cut you make. You’ll just end up putting a tiny, shallow scratch in the surface of whatever you strike, and you could probably break your sword.
ARCHERS ARE STRONG TOO. Have you ever drawn a bow? It takes a lot of strength, especially when you’re shooting a bow with a higher draw weight. Draw weight basically means “the amount of force you have to use to pull this sucker back enough to fire it.” To give you an idea of how that works, here’s a helpful link to tell you about finding bow sizes and draw weights for your characters. (CLICK ME)
If an archer has to use a bow they’re not used to, it will probably throw them off a little until they’ve done a few practice shots with it and figured out its draw weight and stability.
People bleed. If they get punched in the face, they’ll probably get a bloody nose. If they get stabbed or cut somehow, they’ll bleed accordingly. And if they’ve been fighting for a while, they’ve got a LOT of blood rushing around to provide them with oxygen. They’re going to bleed a lot.
Here’s a link to a chart to show you how much blood a person can lose without dying. (CLICK ME)
If you want a more in-depth medical chart, try this one. (CLICK ME)
Hopefully this helps someone out there. If you reblog, feel free to add more tips for writers or correct anything I’ve gotten wrong here.
