Who was Ubayy ibn Ka’b?
He was not known to donate a lot of money like Uthman ibn Affan.
He was not known to be very strong in the battlefield like Khalid ibn al-Walid.
He was not known to be a collector of ahadith like Abu Hurairah — may Allah be pleased with them all.
But he was someone who tried his best to understand, apply, and live every Commandment of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. And because of that, Allah is pleased with Ubayy ibn Ka’b. Rasulullah ﷺ said:
🌺 ❛𝗜𝗳 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗛𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗝𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹, 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗼-𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝘀𝗼, 𝗢 𝗝𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹, 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺.❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝟳𝟰𝟴𝟱】
When Allah loves someone, He will mention him by his name, and commands Jibril to love him as well.
🌺 ❛𝗦𝗼 𝗝𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀: “𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼-𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝘀𝗼, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗼𝗼.” 𝗦𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵.❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝟳𝟰𝟴𝟱】
So do not feel sadden if you’re unknown in this dunya, if people keep forgetting your name and find you unworthy because you do not live up to their standards in terms of wealth, status, job rank, the car you drive, the house you own, etc.
Know that none of that matters if the Rabb of everything knows you and is pleased with you. Ubayy ibn Ka’b WEPT when he found out that Allah mentioned him by his name — because that is indeed the greatest recognition of all.

Did you know that the angels make supplications for us? Allah says:

From the rahmah of Allah, He allows for the angels to supplicate for us. They ask Allah:
🌿 to forgive us 🌿 to save us from the Fire 🌿 to reunite us with our families in Jannah. Imam Ibn Kathir rahimahullah wrote in his tafseer: ❛[to] bring them together, so that they may find delight in one another in neighbouring dwellings.❜
And it’s not just one angel making du’a. Allah says the angels who bear His Throne, as well as those around it — ALL of them make supplications for you.

🌺 ❛𝗛𝗮𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗯 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗺 (𝗶.𝗲. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝘁 𝗬𝘂𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗵𝗶 𝗮𝘀-𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗮𝗺), 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 [𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗲, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗪𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺]; 𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗲, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱.❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗤𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝟲𝟴:𝟰𝟵】
Try imagining the scene, when the whale expelled him out onto the shore. Perhaps his body burned from the stomach acid of the whale, his pain excruciating. And yet, he survived.
Allah is showing us something crucial here. Had Allah left Prophet Yunus completely to himself, he may not have survived the ordeal. He might have drowned, or left to his demise in the belly of the whale. Instead, he survived because Allah sent that whale, and Allah commanded it to cast him ashore.
So a person should never wish to be left alone by Allah, and a person should never wish that he has his affairs only in his own hands. We’re extremely, and constantly in need of Allah’s protection.
🌺 ❛𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗯 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀.❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗤𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝟲𝟴:𝟱𝟬】
Allah chose Prophet Yunus as a result of what he went through. So not only Allah forgave Prophet Yunus, but He also raised him to a higher station. Prophet Yunus was better in the Sight of Allah after his tawbah. This is why Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said that Allah said:
🌿 ❛𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝘆: 𝗜 𝗮𝗺 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 [𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝘁] 𝗬𝘂𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗯𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮.❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝟮𝟯𝟳𝟲】
Yes, Prophet Yunus made a mistake, but look what happened as a result — a legendary tawbah, a legendary du’a, and a legendary example of why one should never wish to have his own worldly and akhirah affairs entrusted solely to himself.
This dunya is not in our hands. Nothing is in our hands.
We ask Allah to not leave our affairs to ourselves, even in a blink of an eye.

Prophet Yunus alayhi as-salaam was a great prophet. When he realized the gravity of his mistake, he called to Allah with these beautiful words:
🌺 ❛𝗟𝗮𝗮 𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗮𝗵𝗮 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮, 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗸𝗮, 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶 𝗸𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘂 𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹-𝗱𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻 (𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗻𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝗱 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂, 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗜’𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗱𝗼𝗲𝗿𝘀).❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗔𝗻𝗯𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝟮𝟭:𝟴𝟳】
At the bottom of the ocean, with layers and layers of darkness, Allah, the Most High, heard Prophet Yunus’ heartfelt du’a, heard his affirmation of tawheed, his acknowledgement of Allah’s Perfection, and his acknowledgement of his own imperfection.
Prophet Yunus didn’t ask Allah to free him from the stomach of the whale. Instead, he called upon Allah with sincere tawbah.
And this is something for us to sincerely reflect on. One of the biggest problems we have sometimes is when we call Allah with our tawbah only because we’re facing the consequences of our sins, and we want Allah to fix that for us. We call upon Allah because people have found out about our sins, so we’re ashamed, humiliated. We say ‘O Allah, forgive me’ but in reality, we just want to get out of that mess.
But from the seerah of Prophet Yunus, we learn that he called upon Allah for no other reason and for no other purpose, except to seek His forgiveness.
May Allah allow us to return to Him with sincerity and genuine humility.

When I first came across this hadith, I was amazed by its simplicity. Us eating and being grateful is the same status as when we’re patient when we fast? Like, how easy has Allah made for the believers to gain the ajr!
But when we reflect this hadith deeply, we find that it is teaching us to have beautiful character, regardless of our situation.
Whether when we’re in ease or in difficulty, wealthy or poor, famous or unknown, having a good day or a bad day, it teaches us to be that person who consistently has goodness in his character. From the sunnah of Rasulullah ﷺ, he never let circumstances get the best of him. His beautiful akhlaaq shone during good and difficult times. He was consistently patient, and consistently grateful.
May Allah gift us beautiful akhlaaq.

The sincere worshipper of Allah is the one who hopes that his good deeds remain secret, and that he dislikes for anyone except Allah to know about them. Many of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, kept many secret good deeds. Had Allah not revealed them, no one would have ever known the extraordinary khayr they did.
Shaytan plays the long game. He waits. Then, at the right, specific moment, he strikes. For ten years, a person may carry the ajr of his secret good deeds. But the moment he gives in to shaytan’s whispers and begins boasting about his khayr, he loses all of that reward. Ten years’ worth of good deeds gone. Now, he has to start all over again.
But there IS a time for the believers to boast. Yes, there is! — And that moment is when they receive their book of deeds in their right hand.
🌺 ❛𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗶𝗺, 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝗮𝘆: 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲! 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱!❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗛𝗮𝗾𝗾𝗮𝗵 𝟲𝟵:𝟭𝟵】
This is the time when the righteous believers will go, calling everyone to read his book:
— This is my salaah! — This is my qiyaam and charity! — This is when I cried and wept to Allah! — These are all my secret good deeds that you guys didn’t know about!
Why? Because they’ve already secured the rida of Allah, and couldn’t contain their extreme relief and joy.
So wait for that moment. Protect our ikhlaas and keep our good deeds to ourselves as much as we can. Cover up our good deeds with the same vigilance as we cover up our sins.
Because if we attach our deeds to the dunya, they only last as long as the dunya lasts. But when we attach our deeds to the One who is Eternal, then our khayr will never go to waste.

Not even the heavens and earth cared when Fir’aun and his men died.
Does that sound strange? Do the heavens and the earth actually cry for anybody in the first place? Ibn Jarir recorded that Sa’id ibn Jubayr said that a man came to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with all of them) and asked:
❛O Abu al-Abbas, Allah says: And the heavens and the earth wept not for them, nor were they given respite. Do the heavens and the earth weep for anybody?❜

Your place of sajdah will actually feel a void when you pass away. It will miss you and cry for you. Sisters who pray at home, who have a specific spot in their house for their daily prayers — that very spot will cry for you when you pass away!
And there is a gate that opens through the heavens, through which your good deeds ascend to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, that closes when you pass away, and the heavens too will miss and cry for you as well.
A person may pass away, being completely unknown to others. But perhaps he is someone whom Allah is pleased with, that even the earth and the heavens weep for the loss of khayr he or she did.
At the end of the day, what truly matters is a life lived in a way that is pleasing to Allah.

To the ones celebrating Eid today, remember that we're still in the blessed 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah! It is the last best day of the entire year, in which good deeds are the most superior and beloved to Allah. So end the day with khayr because actions are judged by their endings.
May Allah grant the hujjaj Hajj mabrur, accept the khayr we did from all of us, and ultimately make us those who love Him, and are loved by Him.

Some countries are celebrating Eid, while some are still witnessing the day of Arafah. To the non-hujjaj who are still benefiting the day of Arafah, here’s an encouraging statement on how to utilise these last few blessed hours. Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
🌺 ❛𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵. 𝗛𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝘀: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁?❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝟭𝟯𝟰𝟴】
Imam Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali’s rahimahullah commented (with some adjustments):
🌿 ❛𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝘁, 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵, 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀.
🌿 𝗦𝗼 𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — [𝗲𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿] 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 [𝗼𝗳 𝗛𝗮𝗷𝗷] 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗴𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝘁 — 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 [𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲] 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵.❜ 【𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗮’𝗶𝗳 𝗮𝗹-𝗠𝗮’𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗳 𝗽𝗴. 𝟯𝟳𝟬】
In short, the ones who are not physically in the plain of Arafah has equal chance to be chosen by Allah to be freed from the Fire. And we collectively celebrate Eid the next day due to our partaking in seeking Allah’s forgiveness and protection from the Fire on the day of Arafah, regardless where we are.
Remember that the day of Arafah is the day when Allah sets free the most servants from the Hellfire in the entire year. And depending on where we are, we may have just a few hours left before the day ends. So utilise these last few moments by seeking Allah’s Forgiveness and asking Him freedom from the Fire.
So seal the day of Arafah with istighfar and sincere tawbah, while assuming only good of Allah, the One Who Loves to Forgive.

For us Malaysians, tomorrow will be the day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah), which begins from Fajr until Maghrib — approximately 12 hours. It’s highly recommended to fast on the day of Arafah for the non-hujjaj. Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
🌺 ❛𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀: 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 & 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿.❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝟭𝟭𝟲𝟮𝗯】
Just ONE day of fasting earns us an expiation of 2 years worth of sins. To see a glimpse of how valuable this day is, try dividing those 2 years with the 12 hours of fasting.
We’ll get 1 minute of fasting = 1 day of forgiveness.
Subhana Allah, it’s not even by the hour, rather by the minute! Literally every single minute that goes by on the day of Arafah is precious in value. So do not skip fasting on the day of Arafah if we’re able to fast.
As for those who cannot fast due to valid reasons, then have the sincere intention that you wanted to fast on that day, because Allah rewards His servants according to their intention.
Besides fasting, we should also focus on 2 more voluntary ibaadat (At-Tirmidhi 3585 | Graded fair by Sh. al-Albani rahimahullah):
🌿 (𝟭) 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — it is the best day to make du’a!
🌿 (𝟮) 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁-𝘁𝗮𝗵𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 — i.e. laa ilaaha illa Allah, wahdahu laa shareeka lahu, lahul-Mulk wa lahul-hamd, wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shayin qadeer).
Did you know that the day of Arafah is the same day when Allah took the covenant from Bani Adam? (Musnad Ahmad 2455 | Graded authentic by Sh. al-Albani). Way back before we even came into this world, Allah took the covenant of Tawheed from every single one of us. This happened on the Day of Arafah.
So when the day of Arafah comes again, and as we recite at-tahleel, it is as though we’re renewing that contract with Allah, declaring that we worship no one but Him. So let us live by its meaning, and recite it from the bottom of our hearts.
Indeed, the day of Arafah is not a day for relaxation and entertainment, rather it is a serious day — a day of many virtues and rewards that Allah preserves only for this occasion!

The day of Arafah, the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, is close at hand. And it’s one of the most important days for the believers. Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
🌺 ❛𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗮𝗵…❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁-𝗧𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗵𝗶 𝟯𝟱𝟴𝟱 | 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝘆 𝗦𝗵. 𝗮𝗹-𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗶 𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗵𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵】
Imam an-Nawawi rahimahullah said (with slight adjustments):
❛𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝘀, 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝘂𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗿, 𝗱𝘂’𝗮, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗿’𝗮𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗿.
𝗛𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿: 🌿 𝗵𝗶𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳, 🌿 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 🌿 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀, 🌿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, 🌿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀, 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗶𝗺, 🌿 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗹𝗶𝗺𝘀.

On the day of Arafah, ask Allah for whatever you want! But focus more on seeking Allah’s forgiveness and being freed from the Hellfire, because there is not a day in which Allah frees His servants from the Hellfire more than the day of Arafah. When we think of Hajj, the Prophet that comes to mind is Ibrahim alayhi as-salaam, who left behind some of the greatest legacy and lessons we all benefit til today. One of those incredible life lessons was his lack of need of people’s validation.
🌺 ❛𝗔𝗻𝗱 [𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿] 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 [𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗻] 𝗜𝘀𝗺𝗮’𝗶𝗹 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 [𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗮’𝗯𝗮𝗵, 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴]: 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗯𝗯, 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 [𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲] 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘂𝘀. 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹𝘆, 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗹-𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗹-𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿.❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗕𝗮𝗾𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝟮:𝟭𝟮𝟳】
Prophet Ibrahim was so purely motivated by Allah’s Command that he never needed validation from anyone.
He didn’t need to see the numbers of people coming to the Ka’bah afterwards. Didn’t need someone patting him on the back.
His heart was pure — qalbun saleem.
And this is something that we need to check for ourselves. Riyaa (showing off), which is basically doing deeds for the sight of people rather than the Sight of Allah, is a spiritual disease. The opposite of riyaa is ikhlaas. And a person can start transitioning from ikhlaas to riyaa when he starts seeking people’s approval for actions that he did for Allah:
— that ‘maa shaa Allah, good job!’ — that ‘like’ on social media
So now when he starts doing good deeds, the first thing he’s conscious of is: “Who’s watching me, and who’s going to tell me I’m doing a good job.” Instead of: “Allah is watching me, and I’m hoping for His Reward.”
From the seerah of Prophet Ibrahim is that we learn to cut all these things off from the roots.
Remember that Allah’s Reward is infinitely greater, His acceptance of good deeds is infinitely more honourable, and qalbun saleem paves our way to His Jannah, bi idhnillah.

How are our days of Dhul-Hijjah going so far? If we’re starting to lose focus, then ponder on this aayah:
🌺 ❛…𝗦𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗤𝘂𝗿’𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗯𝗲 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆 [𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂], 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗮𝘀-𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗮𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗭𝗮𝗸𝗮𝗮𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗻; 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵, 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱…❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗠𝘂𝘇𝘇𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗹 𝟳𝟯:𝟮𝟬】
Imam Ibn Kathir rahimahullah wrote in his tafseer that this aayah abrogates the Commandment to Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam to pray Tahajjud, allowing him instead to pray Tahajjud as much as is easy for him.
But at the same time, the aayah also gives us encouragement. Allah tells us to take care of our 5 daily prayers, and to give zakaah and be charitable. Then He encourages all types of righteous actions:
🌺 ❛𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵, 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱.❜
Sheikh as-Sa’di rahimahullah wrote in his tafseer:
🌿 ❛𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝟳𝟬𝟬 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀, 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀. 𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝘆𝘀.❜
Remember that Allah’s compensation is (1) far better and (2) far greater than all the temporary joy, relaxation and satisfaction in this dunya combined.
All praise is due to Allah, Who has made some months, days and nights better than others — when rewards are multiplied even many more times for the ones who strive for His reward. May Allah make us among them.

There are so many benefits when we study the ahadith regarding the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah. Here’s another gem that everyone must know.
Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said: ❛𝗡𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 (𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗵𝘂𝗹-𝗛𝗶𝗷𝗷𝗮𝗵).❜
𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵𝘂 𝗮𝗻𝗵𝘂𝗺 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱: ❛𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗝𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗮𝗱?❜
🌺 𝗛𝗲 ﷺ 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗱: ❛𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗝𝗶𝗵𝗮𝗮𝗱, 𝘂𝗻𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗵𝗶𝗺𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸.❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝟵𝟲𝟵】
Jihaad fi sabil-lillah is one of the greatest acts of worship in the Sight of Allah. From this hadith, my teacher taught us that there are several tiers in jihaad; the higher the tier, the greater the reward.
And the greatest tier is when a believer goes with himself and his wealth, and does not bring anything back. Meaning, he died as a shaheed, and his wealth confiscated by enemies.
So if we look at the hadith, it is only this highest tier of jihaad surpasses the superiority of doing good deeds in the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah. But any good deed that we do in these days exceeds all other tiers of jihaad. Allah is giving us — who are sitting in our homes — a chance to compete with the mujaahid in the battlefields, subhana Allah.
So let us not waste this huge blessing from Allah that comes once a year — the duration of which is only 10 days. May Allah grant us tawfeeq to worship Him sincerely to the best of our capability, and accept from all of us.

They mean turning towards Allah's obedience, seeking His mercy, holding yourself accountable, seeking repentance, and asking for forgiveness.
A virtuous season, blessed days, and an opportunity for righteous deeds. Limited days, limited hours, and a chance that will pass.
So fill them with what will be beneficial for you in the hereafter. And beware of the hardness of the heart that makes you forget virtues, distracts you from good deeds, and weakens you from seeking forgiveness.❜

Scholars said that sins done in any of the sacred months outweigh sins committed outside those months, and Dhul-Hijjah is one of the sacred months. So let us strive to ensure that we do not do anything that will deprive us of Allah’s Blessings in this season of obedience.

Some of us may think that the virtues of the 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah are only for the hujjaj. Yes, the hujjaj will be doing the best ibaadah that one can do in these blessed days, but what about those who can’t go for Hajj? Are we deprived of its blessings and virtues?
No, alhamdulillah. The Rabb of the Ka’bah is the same Rabb that we all worship. So what can we non-hujjaj do? Here are some recommendations. Bismillah!
🌿 𝗙𝗶𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽, eg. our daily salaah, our relationship with our parents and family. Always get our obligatory ibaadat covered first. Sheikh Younus Kathrada wrote the following beneficial advice:
❛We find in a hadith qudsi: “My slave does not draw near to Me with anything dearer to Me than what I have made obligatory for him. My slave continues to draw near to Me by doing supererogatory deeds until I love him.”
From this, we should be aware that the fard / waajib takes precedence over the nawafil / voluntary deeds. Strive first and foremost to carry out your obligations, such as salaah, zakah, hijaab, dutifulness to parents, good treatment of your spouse etc before diving into the optional deeds. Combining them is ideal, but doing what is obligatory is the priority. So if one hasn’t paid zakah, what is sadaqah going to do for them? If one does not establish the five daily prayers, what’s a few extra rak’ahs before Jumu’ah going to do for them? We have to have our priorities in order, and these ten days [of Dhul-Hijjah] are a great opportunity to set things straight, in shaa Allah.❜
🌿 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝘄𝗯𝗮𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗳𝗮𝗿. Dhul-Hijjah is the last month of the hijri year, and it’s a great reminder for us to take stock of our shortcomings and sins. Be honest and ask ourselves: Am I happy with the ibaadat I did this year?
🌿 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟵 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗵𝘂𝗹-𝗛𝗶𝗷𝗷𝗮𝗵 (don’t fast on the 10th – that’s the day of Eid).
🌿 If we have difficulties to fast on any of these days, then at least 𝗳𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟵𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗵𝘂𝗹-𝗛𝗶𝗷𝗷𝗮𝗵 because of its immense reward: For just one single day of fasting, Allah will expiate our sins of 2 years — the past, and the coming year. 【Sahih Muslim 1162b】
🌿 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗱𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗿 𝗮𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 even as we walk, or idling at home. It doesn’t take much, just a simple mindfulness while we do the remembrance of Allah. And the best adhkaar in the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah are: 𝗧𝗮𝗵𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗹 (𝗟𝗮𝗮 𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗮𝗵𝗮 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵), 𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗿 (𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵𝘂 𝗔𝗸𝗯𝗮𝗿), 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗲𝗱 (𝗔𝗹𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵). 【𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗻𝗮𝗱 𝗔𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗱 𝟱𝟰𝟮𝟯】
🌿 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗯𝗮𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗵 such as optional salaah, reciting the Qur’an, giving in charity, making supplications, doing da’wah, and other good deeds.
Remember that good deeds done in these 10 days are more superior and more beloved to Allah than any other day in the entire year!

Yesterday, I shared an important hadith regarding the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah, where Rasulullah salla Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
🌺 ❛𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 {𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗗 | 𝗵𝘂𝗯𝗯} 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 (𝗶.𝗲. 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗵𝘂𝗹-𝗛𝗶𝗷𝗷𝗮𝗵).❜ 【𝗦𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗯𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗮𝗵 𝟭𝟳𝟮𝟳 | 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵】
There’s another similar narration from Rasulullah ﷺ, but with a different wording:
🌺 ❛𝗡𝗼 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 {𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗥 | 𝗮𝗳𝗱𝗮𝗹} 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 [𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬 𝗱𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗵𝘂𝗹-𝗛𝗶𝗷𝗷𝗮𝗵].❜ 【𝗦𝗮𝗵𝗶𝗵 𝗮𝗹-𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝟵𝟲𝟵】
Rasulullah ﷺ described doing good deeds on these days as {afdal} i.e. more important, more superior. From this, scholars derived the following:
🌿 (1) That doing fard (obligatory) ibaadah on the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah is more superior to fard on any other days — so these are the best days to start fixing the quality of our obligatory ibaadat, eg. pray the five daily prayers with khushoo and at its early stated time.
🌿 (2) That doing sunnah (voluntary) ibaadah on the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah is superior to doing sunnah ibaadah on any other days. Important to add here that they do not surpass the superiority of fard ibaadah. Never miss the fard in favour of doing a voluntary ibaadah, eg. doing the sunnah fast but skipping the 5 daily prayers.
And the good deeds mentioned in both ahadith are general, encompassing all types of acts of worship. So all good deeds we do on the first 10 days of Dhul-Hijjah are not just more beloved to Allah, but also superior to doing them on any other day! And this is truly from the Rahmah of our Rabb, walhamdulillah.
