In Defense of the Mastermind Ending

Stolitz is NOT a couple. They both have a lot of issues to work through. The kiss on the cheek was not them becoming canon (AHEM SARCASTIC CHORUS). Blitzø still hates himself. Stolas is still horribly depressed. The kiss on the cheek was Blitzø finally coming to terms with the fact that he can love and that stolas loves him back. The happy music at the end does not mean that Blitzø is happy Stolas is not a goetia anymore, it's bc Blitzø is happy that stolas ISN'T DEAD. Blitzø more than anyone would understand the gravity of the situation Stolas is in. He's been pushed out of his home, shunned by his family and taken the blame for something huge that was not his fault and ripped away from the people (person) that he loves. Who in all of hell understands that better than Blitzø? He wasn't forcing affection or forcing Stolas to talk. He was treating Stolas with the gentleness he NEEDS right now. Blitzø isn't gonna keep him trapped in his one bedroom alone with him and Loona, he's gonna do whatever he can to get him back on his feet after the life-changing day both of them have had. Is he happy he's getting attention and praise for the FIRST TIME in his life? Understandly, yes but he was also protecting Stolas from the other people's vomit and trash so the attention isn't getting to his head and it won't anytime soon because that's not who Blitzø is. The writers aren't making them jump into a relationship. Hell, they weren't in a relationship when they were having sex every month, a kiss on the cheek means something definitely and im so happy about it, but it certainly doesn't mean they're dating. Mastermind was a brilliant episode with a brilliant ending and I'm tired of people complaining about problems that don't even exist.

blitzø and his relationship with masculinity in ghostfuckers

Obviously blitzø has this bulletproof, as millie said, facade he puts up but deep down there is this fear that if he opens, he will get laughed at if he opens up to anybody. Blitzø's relationship with his masculinity is extremely fragile. Now knowing cash beat him, it makes sense to assume that the feeling of helplessness he experience from his dad's abuse made him always have to feel invincible. Over time, this solidified into him having to be overly harsh and brash (downplaying moxxie's achievements). This facade, in his mind, became all anyone in his life has ever known (unaware that the cracks in this very facade is what makes people more drawn to him anyway). He believes it is expected of him to keep it up no matter what, the specific types of jokes he cracks, the type of digs he makes at moxxie, and of course, his feelings.

This whole episode has been blitzø trying to deny his feelings whne they are SO fucking obvious to everyone in his life. With the hypersexualizing of the mission, he is trying to erase the perception from millie's mind that he is "moping" and just revert back to what everyone expects of him. He really doesn't need to hide how shitty he's feeling, he obviously doesn't want to either but he HAS to because these practices are so ingrained into his mind he doesn't even realize he's doing it.

In the flashback, he gets so pissed that millie even brought up the notion that they don't deserve all this. In reality, blitzø was probably thinking the exact same thing but hearing it voiced out in the open immediately triggered his need to reaffirm that he is the least insecure and most masculine and confident person ever.

When Rolando traps him in the abandoned movie theatre and makes him watch every single moment where he has ever felt inferior or insecure, this issue is mentally brought to the forefront of everything. Everything he had been running from for 15+ years he is being forced to confront and he is chained down having to deal with the fact that there is some slimy infestor demons weeding through his darkest moments and choosing which one would sting blitzø worst. He can't speak, he can't move, he can't do anything except stay paralysed in that spot, Rolando wants him to come to terms with the fact that no matter how successful he is, if you are vunerable enough to share your trauma? That is all people will see you as. Weak.

And then there's the root of it all.

Cash Buckzo.

The man that taught him that violence is masculinity. The man that never once even thought of displaying empathy or vulnerability as blitzø's ONLY male role model throughout his childhood. Blitzø toxic masculinity mindset is all subconsciously so he can appease his father. It's why he makes fun of Moxxie, because his relationship with masculinity is so fucked that when he sees somebody that isn't conforming to typical gender norms he has been taught, he has to drag them down in an effort to convince his mind to keep perpetuating this facade because other what was all his suffering for? He could at least be the son his father wanted. The memory of Cash's outbursts still make him flinch, no matter how successful he is he can't escape the cycle of wanting to please his dad.

ANYWAY. As I said before, blitzø's only male role model throughout his life was Cash, violent, angry Cash. That was until Stolas came along. Stolas altered blitzø's entire brain chemistry regarding masculinity because here is the most powerful person blitzø has ever met and actually formed a relationship (IT WAS NOT A BREAKUP copium goes hard btw) with and he's.......a bottom?

Nah but really, it's no shocker that Stolas displays more classically "feminine" (whatever that means) traits, which he has been taken advantage of by paimon, stella and likely other memebers of the Ars Goetia but blitzø sees Stolas' masculinity completely differently. Power dynamic or no, blitzø looks up to Stolas, likely because of how different he is from the men that blitzø has met before, including Cash. This paired with the fact that Stolas is not weak by ANY means, blitzø has seen firsthand how strong he is (blitzø is yet to witness stolas' mental strength but when he does i will be screaming and crying) and that is what attracts blitzø to stolas. Stolas was able to do what blitzø never could and break the cycle of toxic masculinity.

THIS! also if you look at the season 1 eps where I.M.P went to Earth to kill their clients. Blitzø was ,subtly, but still, very different. In season 1 (eps like Spring Broken, C.H.E.R.U.B and the beginning of Truth Seekers), Blitzø was always on his feet. He prided himself in coming up with plans to off their targets.

In Spring Broken, he came up with the idea for Loona to lure the targets away so that it would be easier for I.M.P to kill them. As much as he screwed up, Blitzø was a natural leader for his business.

However in the new short something changed.

A lot of people were making comments that Millie and Moxxie stood out in this short. Both of them took the lead because Blitzø wasn't performing in that role the way he usually was. When Blitzø was ready to up and leave, Millie stopped him and make him notice the bitemarks etc. Millie and Moxxie were the ones that got them home and got the crystal to work bc Blitzø wasn't performing.

More on that last point. His sexual prowess is one of the only things Blitzø feels like he's good at/useful for. Yet in this moment, it is being challenged in a stressful situation and M&M are the ones to crack the crystal and that must make him feel pretty inferior. Despite this, notice how he doesn't try to defend his skills or any of the shit he would've done had this happened in season 1 or even early on in season two. He has lost so much confidence in the very thing he used to base almost all of his self-worth on (😭😭)

Blitzø is 100% off his game, his jokes are coming as naturally as they used to be. His business feels more like a job to just complete and go home instead of what it used to be, something he took pride in. So Stolas' absence in the short + the way things left off in Apology Tour is so clear in the way Blitzø is acting.

Even though the short never featured Stolas or mentioned him, you could feel his absence keenly.

Old episodes where he just wasn’t in them, you still knew he was around, doing…whatever it is he does (if he only has the grimoire for one evening, what does he do the rest of the month? Is he making photocopies? Does he have a photographic memory? Is there another grimoire that’s an exact replica but without magic hanging around?)

But in this short, he’s not there and you FEEL it. Something is missing. Something warm and overflowing with love…someone kinda cringey and awkward but also sweet and passionate…the foundation of the entire business is cracked. An essential part of the crew is missing. Because Stolas isn’t there. He’s not keeping an eye on them in case he has to swoop in. He’s not dropping in at the office to poke and prod Blitz for attention.

He’s gone. And Blitz’s world has grown cold.

so i was just rewatching apology tour, and i noticed something

after blitzø leaves the party, he gets into his car and turns on the radio and "Over You" is playing. He hears it and lets in play and he wallows in his sweet, sweet depression. This sequence reminded me of something else...

in exes and oohs when him and millie get ready to stop moxxie's wedding, he turns on the radio. The radio plays Robo-Fizz's jingle from "Loo Loo Land" but Blitzø quickly changes the channel and scans for different music.

I can't help but think this is symbolism. That, Blitzø who is so used to ignoring and hiding his problems by just not thinking about them who is in denial and angry at Fizz so he changes the channel to not have to think about the fire. It's a prime example of how his trauma manifests in how he conducts himself in day to day life, this moment in Exes and Ooh's shows that subtly but well.

Apology Tour, though maybe unintentionally shows how Blitzø has changed. He hears Verosika's song about HIM and how he hurt her and just.....lets it play. He has come to terms that he needs to change, and though it won't happen overnight, all he can do right now is let the people he hurt be and let them go.

My name is Basel Ayyad, 28yrs , a Palestinian from Gaza. My eight-member family has been forcibly displaced since the early days of the war on Gaza, leaving behind all our stuff and belongings. We used to live in the north of Gaza , but the war forced us to leave our home and to live in the south of Gaza , Rafah.

Our tragedy started with the news of losing our house and my father's business. Everything we used to have has gone with the wind. The war destroyed every corner of our house turning it into rubbles and ashes, and our beautiful memories have been swept and deleted.

As well, my father's big stores were bombed and burned, and nothing has been left, so our only livelihood business was lost. This has dramatically changed our life upside down ,and turned us from having everything into having nothing.

We have become desperate displaced people , living in a very small outdoor tent, with no nearly water, food, sanitation facilities and no health care. Life has become dire and sad as the needs to be alive have vanished. It is a struggle for surviving.

In addition to these tragedies, My daughter has been suffering a rare disease in her growth and her sight for years , and with the lack of medical supplies, her health conditions are getting worse.

guys calm the fuck down and think. Why would this random guy be endgame for Stolas? How is he any threat to Stolitz at all?? He's just a chill guy who wanted to dance with Stolas at a party and god knows Stolas needed it.

Literally in THIS episode Stolas said he "still wants" Blitzø and in the beginning scene Stolas said he didn't want to "do words" with Blitzø FOR NOW (which is fair).

Even while being piss drunk, Stolas still looked to Blitzø for permission and some sort of closure to this back and forth thing they've had going from Full Moon (blitzø constantly prodding Stolas to either fight with or fuck him). Right now, Blitzø and Stolas have BOTH poured their hearts out, there is nothing urgent willing them together for the (however short) time being, It's just...calm, something that BOTH of them need. It's nice that, despite being jealous, Blitzø can see that (2nd image + Verosika knocking some sense into him). ALSO about the second image, if you go to the timestamp in which Blitzø says "Yeah, well he needs it" (19:03) he like laughs affectionately a little after seeing Stolas dance like HELLO??? MY GOOD SIR????

ANYWAY, there is still hope for Stolitz. A lot more than in Full Moon. Let Stolas experience the teenage years he missed because of his arranged marriage and have a rebound . Let Blitzø gain maturity about his problems WITHOUT using sex as an escape for his problems. Guys, we're at a GOOD place as far at Stolitz in concerned.

After the song "ALL 2 U" , honestly I think Stolas is in a good place (recognising and not tolerating Blitzø's bad behaviour/forcing blitzø to come to terms with it + recognising HIS role in not reading Blitzø properly and maybe having misstepped along the way). Now we need to refocus on Blitzø issues and he needs to take steps to BE the person that Stolas wants him to be and i have a feeling that he will do just that....

A peek into what goes on in Blitzø's mind when he looks at his selfie in bed with Stolas.

Curled up on the sofa, home alone on a Friday night, you scroll mindlessly through your phone gallery, as you so often do. 

And it hurts, it aches, but you just can't seem to stop. Seeing yourself next to all these people, your smiling face not crossed out for once, is an addictive sort of pain, one that has you hooked. The light from your phone screen blinds you in the darkness of your flat, sucking you in, urging you to scroll faster. Fizz, Verosika, Moxxie, Millie, Loona, Barbie. We were happy, you think as you scroll. For a little while, I made them all happy. 

But when you see your picture with Stolas, you pause. 

Because, in this picture, you don't just look happy. You look content.

It's as though your own eyes are staring back at you through the camera, except the person in the picture doesn't feel like he's you. Not with that gaze that looks so perfectly at ease. Not when his face looks so soft as he holds Stolas close. The person in the picture is peaceful and untroubled, without a single care in the world. And you… well. You're a wreck, that's what you are.

You just can't look away, mesmerized and terrified in equal parts by how carefree you look next to Stolas. And what's scariest is that, if anyone were to see this picture, this moment that you secretly froze in time and have held close to your heart ever since, they'd see… they'd know that you… 

Blinking, you stop that thought before it can fully form. No. 

You don't.  

You lock your phone—close your eyes, fighting the wave of distress that overtakes you. 

You don't love Stolas. 

You don't love Stolas because it isn't worth it. You've already been there and done that so many times before—the hope, the vulnerability. The inevitable heartbreak. The insults, the disdain. You don't need to love anyone else—the world has already assured you over and over again that you are unlovable. A selfish partner, a freak, a piece of shit. 

You don't love Stolas because love is a fancy, overused word, anyway. It doesn't mean anything. Not when people so often say it, and then leave anyway. Leave before you can understand why they don't want you around anymore—leave before you're ready to lose them, or go on without them. 

You don't love Stolas because your love consumes everything in its wake. The second you get too close, the second you allow others in, they get burned. A single touch of your fingertips can trigger a wildfire, and you're helpless to stop it. You've made peace with it; learned to capitalize off of it, even. But Stolas is too precious to lose, and so he's too precious to be loved by you. 

You don't love Stolas because that's the only way you can be sure you will never lose him. Because how can you lose someone you've never truly had in the first place?

You press your fisted hands to your eyes, fighting back tears. You don't love Stolas. You don't love Stolas because you're too damaged to be loved back. Because every time Stolas looks your way, you can't return the look, your gaze darting to the ground, begging it to swallow you and spare the world from your sad, sorry presence. You don't love Stolas because, when you're with him, you just feel inadequate—broken— wrong . A shell that pretends to be empty, but that is full of all this pain it can't contain, a spiralling hurricane of grief and loneliness and self-loathing that's constantly threatening to burst, to spill, to hurt, to burn.

You don't love Stolas because you can't. Not again. The mere notion makes you cower. To open your heart up to someone like that again, knowing the pain that will inevitably follow—it's more than you can bear. It's easier to live just on the edge of something real, to be a shadow, a play of light. It's easier when every single crack in your shell can be brushed off with a joke. It's easier to be the person who doesn't care, who's always right, always loud and obnoxious, always one step ahead, always in control.

No, you don't love Stolas. You don't, because the Blitzo who was strong enough to love died a long time ago, and you, Blitzø, can't go through that again. 

You're not strong enough to face what loving Stolas might do to you. 

You can't love him. 

You can't love him. You can't. 

And yet. 

And yet, despite it all… 

You unlock your phone once more, and there it is again. Staring back at you, bright as day, the evidence too clear to deny.

You...

Oh, Satan.
