I already gushed about this bit on Twitter this morning and it’s been like 12 hours and I can’t stop thinking about it so I guess I’ll just do it over here too.

In light of everything that we learned about Joshua from the Ultimania, the fact that he immediately decided to stop Dion from committing genocide when he saw Bahamut rampaging over Twinside is so important.

This moment is the first time he primes into the Phoenix after Phoenix Gate and after his coma and long recovery, all while constantly suffering of the curse for imprisoning Ultima.

He's choosing to accelerate his curse to save Dion and to stop him from doing something he knows he would not have wanted, at the expense of his wellbeing and I AM NOT OKAY.

The fact that Dion was pushed into it against his will (and that maybe somewhere at the back of Bahamut’s existence Dion is trapped and dissociating - perhaps like Clive did at Phoenix Gate) and that Joshua immediately sees that is such a powerful moment of their relationship.

Not to mention that Joshua’s feeling such immense guilt over not reaching Dion sooner to warn him against the danger that is Ultima.

Just. King. 👑

His compassion and empathy at the cost of his life is something that needs to be shouted from the rooftops.
