Everyone’s talking about how strong Gerson is, how he must have been insanely powerful in his prime, and while I wouldn’t NOT believe it, I had a realization that it might be something else and I feel like this interpretation is more meaningful to me. I could honestly see it if, when he was alive, Gerson was just a pretty normal person in terms of strength but dependably capable.

Ralsei said that he only appeared in a very specific type of darkness created by the memories of the person who created the Fountain, right? What if the reason why Gerson is so strong in the Dark World is only because the person who made the Dark World he appeared in remembered him so fondly?

Whether it’s Alvin remembering his father, or Dess remembering her teacher, whoever might be responsible, if he’s formed based on their memories of him, it’s reasonable to maybe theorize that his strength was affected by that. They remembered him as someone strong, trustworthy, someone you can rely on— someone who can do anything. That might be why he was so powerful he could help the Fun Gang take down a Titan in three turns— someone remembered him so warmly that he was unstoppable.

His strength came from the people who loved him.
