lincoln alexander vance was born on 1 april, 1999 in chicago, illinois, to mountain climber george vance and rita ( née savard ), a local comedian and financial advisor. lincoln is the youngest of three, two brothers and a sister before him. the vance children were often inspired by their parents to take risks and explore their interests, encouraging independence and creativity. for lincoln, this came in various ways. at a young age, he began training in ballet and musical instruments which was later reduced to just percussion. he also took to the stage in local adaptations of favorable shows and musicals, something that his parents were impressed with. through their father, the vance children were also exposed to many sports and adventures, and were involved in many organized sports from a young age. with a high interest in the performing arts, rita took on the role of lincoln’s unofficial manager and began building a portfolio to send to talent agencies. before crossing the age threshold of twelve, lincoln successfully landed the role of les jacobs in the newsies musical and later, charlie conway in the trilogy ‘ the mighty ducks. ’
