Education Never Remains Same
Tumblr media
Have you remember those days when you at your childhood enroll in schools in Gurgaon and request to write on a slate with white chalk. That was our first time where we interact with the teacher and the class students. We cried, laugh and quiet in class in our childhood days. The essence of the dust of chalk and the white hands we can’t forgive. Earlier no technology was there, blackboards in class and teachers used to write on them. Students copy from the blackboard to their copies.
From the last two decades, the level of education and technology has tremendously increased. In place of chalk marker and blackboard to whiteboard eyes has seen so many changes in front of them. From heavy going school bags to only a few books, now things have changed a lot. Also, earlier parents used to buy books at a far distance now all the stationery is available for all the classes.
Teachers have also become smart with the change in the education systems and the increasing trend of technology. Their teaching method has changed, used the blackboard and then ask a question from any of the student present inside the class where now they ask to give a presentation on a particular topic.
Earlier there was no scope of learning a new language anywhere but today schools have language teacher and the subjects which students want to develop and learn. When they start attending the language class, the formation of sentences and new words which they learn helps them to enhance their communication.
During the lockdown, schools in Gurgaon were closed for more than eight months. Students did not have any option except to attend the classes online from their home. It was one of the unexpected things that we all saw in short “The show must go on”. New learning education-based application is helping the students to learn and become a better version of themselves.
In the present time, digital learning has become a trend for all school students due to covid-19. What we have seen in the past years is no more now wherein the next 20 years a lot will change.

Senior School Events at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon
Reflections by a student at Lancers, one of the top schools in Gurgaon, about HMUN India 2017.
“If you ask us what the highlight of this year would be, without any hesitation we would reply “HMUN India 2017”. It not only opened our eyes to our true potential but also gave us the opportunity to make some valuable friends from all over the country (if not the world).
Our journey to Hyderabad began at 2 am in the morning of August 11. A pretty cramped school bus carried us to the airport, and an Indigo flight brought us to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad. There, we retrieved our bags, grabbed a quick breakfast from a Subway, and finally boarded a bus, which transported us to the Lemon tree Hotel. We freshened up, all ready to face the challenges of the day ahead, despite the tiring and inconveniently timed flight.
We arrived at the scene of action on the first day at nearly 11 am. After getting our school’s delegates registered, we proceeded to the opening ceremony, which was nothing short of magnificent. The organizing committee, it seemed, had spared no expense to make this year’s session as engaging as possible. We were mind-blown by the awe-inspiring speeches delivered by some of India’s leading icons.
We were briefed about the rules of procedure, and before we knew it, were sitting in our designated committee rooms, representing our delegated nations while fighting some of the world’s biggest dilemmas.
For four days straight, we attended the nerve-wracking roll call vote (it was feared by all delegates as it was nearly impossible to register later if you missed the roll call), spoke on moderated caucuses, lobbied and haggled in unmoderated caucuses (literally “haggled”), made working papers and draft resolutions, and faced untimely crises (sudden changes in international policies), to name but a few. Some of us even had the misfortune of being nagged by reporters, which always ended badly for the poor delegate being interviewed.
Apart from all the “official stuff”, we also attended a marvelous talent show, in honor of the Independence Day (15th of August), where delegates showcased their talents in various forms: art, dance, Rubik’s cube solving, piano, magic shows, and music (mostly music). Unfortunately enough, we weren’t able to attend the Delegate Dance, which most of us were looking forward to.
Despite all that, none of us would be able to deny the fact that we had fun, and that, we believe, is the most important aspect. The day we had to leave Hyderabad, we were all very glum, because of the fact that we didn’t want to go back. However, most of us felt that our sleep-deprived, over-worked brains needed rest.
We boarded our flight back home in the evening, at around 9 pm, and that marked the end of HMUN India 2017,” shared by a student at Lancers, one of the top schools in Gurgaon.

Grade 10 Students at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon, Visit the Zoo
On the 12th of September, Grade 10 students from Lancers, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, visited the Delhi National Zoological Park. Shares a student from Lancers, one of the best school in Gurgaon, about the experience, “Whilst studying our unit on endangered animals, we focused mainly on tigers who are a vital part of our natural ecosystem. Without them, our natural systems would be disrupted.
To learn and explore more about this, we decided to visit the zoo and host a small workshop to educate people and bring about awareness about endangered tigers and how we can help them.
For our task, we made posters to display on the zoo board and even distributed small pamphlets with facts and websites that people can visit to understand the topic further.
The people we met showed a lot of interest in our campaign and listened to what we had to say with care and patience. Even though we couldn’t find too many people on a Tuesday afternoon, we all managed to seek enough attention and distribute all our flyers. For us, it was truly a wonderful experience being able to interact with the people that visited the zoo.”
University Visit for Students at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon
Representatives from the four Universities of the Russell group (i.e. University of Exeter, University of Essex, University of Bristol, University of Nottingham) visited our school campus and apprised students of Grades XI and XII about the UCAS, SOP, Scholarships and Admission criterions. The seminar was followed by an interactive session in which students raised their specific queries.
Investiture Ceremony Reflections by Students at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon
“Be the flame, not the moth”
-Casanova
“This is what inspires the new Head Girl, Neha Chauhan. On the 18 of August, the grand investiture ceremony took place in the school auditorium. Being a sixth grader, I wondered if I would ever be a part of the Student Council when I reach senior school. To me, the greatest aspect of this ceremony was the way members of student counsel extolled values of leadership, tolerance, compassion, and determination.
The positive energy really helped me appreciate the hard work put in by newly appointed members of Student Council to persuade their peers into believing in them and the promises they made, to raise standards in the school for the benefit of students.
To me, the highlights of the ceremony were the inspirational speeches by the head boy, Shivam Marwaha, and head girl, Neha Chauhan. I was moved when the head boy said-”I shall not stop when I’m tired; I will only rest when I’m done”. I was also inspired when the head girl said that she wanted “to become the best version of myself and be a guiding light to all my young friends.”
After the wonderful inspirational speeches by the Head Boy and Head Girl, the panel discussions with the rest of the student council began. The panel questions were conducted by Yagyata. The speakers were Neha, Manas, Gilbert, Vrinda, Prachin and Sahiti. I think the most important question they were asked was: “Who motivates you?” I think that this question is important because it shows who inspires you. We really enjoyed watching the investiture ceremony, as we learned a lot from the leaders and their perspectives. Congrats to the new Student Council” shares a student from Lancers, one of the top school in Gurgaon.

More Reflections by Students at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon
Learn more about Lancers, one of the top schools in Gurgaon, through their students:
“Every story has a monster. Sometimes they are tangible creatures of malice, so sharp you could cut yourself on the jags of their demeanor. And sometimes they take a more sinister form: as concepts entirely absent of form, too nebulous for even the mind to truly grasp.
Which one of us can without a doubt say whether the nightmares that afflict us are more fearsome than the echoes of a beast’s laughter that we hear in the woods?
This is the truth: monstrosity comes in as much variety as humanity. Some love being monsters, while others do not realize they are. Some are only misguided, while others are chillingly devoid of all morals.
Some are otherworldly eldritch horrors of thunderstorms and apocalypse, while others are closer to home; a doppelgänger trapped in your mirror, a teddy quietly growing fangs. Monsters are difficult to pin down, yet they are unarguably one of the pillars of pop culture, art, religious myth, and the entire world we have made for ourselves.
They linger in the creeks and crevices of human consciousness, waiting to be defeated. Whether these attempts are successful or not is another question, but ultimately the purpose of any monster is to be defeated. This is rather lonely for the monsters, of course, but that can’t be helped.
The fact is that humans do not have assured answers to many important questions. But they have imagination, and they have hope, and the combination of those two, giving shape and voice to all we fear, is responsible for the creation of monsters throughout human history. It sounds surprising, but monsters do not only represent despair. They also signify hope- the optimism of all those brave souls who seek to end the monsters.
Humans and monsters are at opposite ends of their unruly dichotomy. In any situation, fictional or existential, there are very few situations in which both parties survive till the end. They are designed to enact the deaths of each other. To befriend a monster, which is another outcome, is to take away its title entirely- at least to the one befriending them.
What we can learn from history is that to kill any monster, all one needs to do is consider themselves the hero of the tale. Swords, while helpful, are optional,” shares a student from Lancers, one of the top schools in Gurgaon.

Moving Forward, Reflections by a Student at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon
“Transition is a universal law of life and our lives are huge, changes will keep happening. It is very important to adapt to the changes. The biggest change that the 5th graders have faced is experiencing graduation.
When you compare the PYP to the MYP, it’s very different. Most people find the transition scary and tiring and others find it overwhelming. When one is in PYP, it is almost like you are a caterpillar in a cocoon, since everyone pays attention to you and makes you feel at home.
One day you will have to come out of your little cocoon and spread your wings. It may be hard at first, but then you will become a beautiful butterfly. In the MYP you need to be responsible for your belongings, locker keys, studies, homework, and many other things; if you don’t you may get detention.
You also have to carry your bags everywhere you go, which can lead to a broken back! It is pretty tiring, obviously, but it is a unique experience, and it is fun to meet new teachers and engage with them. Every teacher has a different way of teaching and it is great to know their different styles.
There are many more things that are unique about the MYP. One of them is that you tend to become more responsible and grown up. You also learn more advanced things and get your own freedom. You also get your own lockers, which many 6th grade pupils are excited about. Apart from all this fun, you have to work pretty hard too. In addition to all of this, our first and end of semester exams will start soon, which are pretty hard and need full attention.
Of course, it’s going to be hard disconnecting from the PYP, but later on, you will wonder why you were so scared. Eventually, you will adjust to the changes and enjoy being a beautiful butterfly,” shares a student from Lancers, one of the best schools in Gurgaon.
Overflowing Workload, Reflections by a Student at Lancers, One of the Top Schools in Gurgaon
“Like for most of my peers, my life, too, is quite hectic!  Let me explain this. You see, each day of mine goes by in a hectic frenzy. It starts from 6 am in the morning and goes on until the late hours of the night!
It starts with going to school every morning. I have to go every morning and then come back home by approximately 4 pm. Then I leave for shooting-practice and return home by 6:30 pm, still thinking about how many more hours are left for the day to finish. You see, the first twelve hours go by so quickly that it feels more like 24 hours have passed. Do I keep wondering when will I get time to study?
Homework takes forever, and then I have my dinner and get to bed. THAT’S IT. Thank God that my tutor doesn’t come to teach me anymore, otherwise I would have to do double the amount of work every day. Phew!
I am in 9th grade now, and it is tough for me. There is more homework to manage. It is time to get a little more serious. At school, it gets very hectic when we get about six assessments to do in 2 or 3 days, but sadly we have to get used to it. I look forward to growing up soon!
So as we all start to go into higher classes, our workload increases and we also need to develop an interest in sports and make sure that this doesn’t affect our learning or school work. To handle this workload, we have to be prepared for the many assessments which come in a week, and balance this with our sports schedule,” shares a student from Lancers, one of the best school in Gurgaon.

On 27th of April 2018, the Primary students of grades 2–5 at Lancers, one of the top schools in Gurgaon, presented a dazzling display of talent in an adaptation of the fairy tale ‘Beauty and the Beast’.
‘Beauty and the Beast’ is a children’s story that was first written in 1740. It is a story that focuses on the importance of love, kindness, and inner beauty. It is a romance between a captive woman and the monster. The story portrays that no matter how ugly a situation appears, there is always a silver lining; one must have the patience to wait out the storm and conquer one’s fears.
It has taken a lot of work and a close collaboration between the students and teachers to put on such a high-quality performance as Beauty and the Beast.

Which Are Some Good Day Schools In Gurgaon?
As parents, we all want what’s best for our children. And we go to great lengths to provide the very best, whether it’s going the extra mile to procure organic food for our kids or choosing one of the best schools in Gurgaon for them.
At Lancers International School (LIS), one of the best IB schools in Gurgaon, students discover and develop their academic, sporting and artistic talents, and the stimulating atmosphere continuously offers them new experiences that pique their curiosity and develop an inquiring mind.
At LIS, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, we feel it’s our duty to offer an environment that’s warm, appealing and intellectually fulfilling; a place that students look forward to going to every morning.
Tumblr media
We strongly believe that at Lancers International School, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, we’ve been able to create such a space of learning with teachers who engage with the students instead of informing; a place where students are encouraged to be who they are instead of molding them into people we think they ought to be.
At Lancers International School, one of the best schools in Gurgaon, our students learn to live in an international community, gradually assume greater responsibility according to their age and make lifelong friends.
IB Schools — An Introduction
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is an international foundation for education that has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. In addition to the traditional subjects of math, science, social studies and languages, IB schools also emphasize in their curriculum the importance of creative and vocational subjects like music, sports, arts, and computer science, among many others.
Unlike the CBSE curriculum that focuses on learning only from the standard recommended textbooks and not focus much on sources of information outside the prescribed course materials, IB schools offer a knowledge-oriented approach to their students. IB schools do not encourage rote learning or following a set of predefined textbooks but rather learning and understanding the concepts being taught in classes.
The students are provided free access to external resources and courses, and examinations are designed to maximize understanding of the course materials. IB schools believe in inquiry-based learning — a form of active learning that begins by posing questions, problems or scenarios, instead of simply presenting established facts.
Connection Between IB Schools & University
IB schools are internationally recognized and statistics reveal that more students from IB schools get accepted in universities abroad (especially in the US).
The students from IB schools can also enroll for courses in their final years that allow them to earn college credits while finishing school. This gives them the option to skip taking basic courses in university.
IB schools strongly believe in the power of concept-driven learning instead of content-driven learning. This way, their students are better aligned with their personal goals and methods of learning. IB schools are purely student-centric, with focus on reprogramming learning, based on the current needs of their students.
In short, IB schools are a perfect fit for your child if you intend to send your child abroad for university and have a global education. IB schools are also a great place to teach your child about diversity. Being an international school, IB schools have a mix of students from different cultural backgrounds and nations.
This not only exposes the child to a multifaceted environment but also teaches him about tolerance and respect towards people of different cultures, ethnicities, race, and gender. Plus, at IB schools, the arts are given a lot of preference, and all students must study one visual or performing art each year through Class 12, making overall education at IB schools more holistic and well-rounded.

Parents Dos and Don’ts Guidelines for Kids in Top Boarding Schools
In order to keep the child interest in going to chosen boarding school, there are many tips for parents to follow, of which two dos and two don’ts are as follows.
Dos for Parents to Follow
Do Visit the Boarding School
·         When selecting and choosing a boarding school, it is imperative to visit on the ground.
·         Although it takes an extra effort and time, it is beneficial in long run.
·         As the ground reality, at times, is quite different from that on the website, it will give you a chance to verify the same.
·         You and your child will be able to view the boarding school, the rooms, and other facilities.
·         Getting the feel of the school and interacting with the children staying there is another benefit of visiting the school.
Be Ready for Unexpected Expenses
·         Sending your child to any boarding school in Gurgaon takes a toll on not only the emotions but also on your finances.
·         Thus, it is generally a good practice to set aside a specific amount for unforeseen circumstances.
·         Boarding schools, in general, are more expensive than local schools. However, the best ones charge the top dollar.
·         Moreover, the school might be located at some distance, which will add to the travel bill.
·         At times, your child might ask for an extra amount for trips and other excursions.
·         These small amounts combine together and become an added stress if you have not set the budget for these unexpected expenses.
Don’ts for Parents to Follow
Don’t Ignore your Child’s Opinion
·         There are times when a child’s instinct is a point on with what they want.
·         In fact, older children are quite aware of what they want from their boarding school.
·         As they grow old their opinion about education and schools starts becoming more expressive.
·         Thus, it is important to listen to what they want to say about different boarding schools in Gurgaon you both have seen.
·         Ensure that the final choice made agrees with both your and your child’s view.
·         Until and unless your child suffers from a behavioral syndrome, it is better to keep their choice of boarding school as the top priority.
Don’t Be Over Protective
·         The basic instinct of every parent is to keep their child close and protect them from harm.
·         This is not possible if you choose to send them to boarding school in India.
·         However, this decision of yours will help them build self-confidence and become more responsible.
·         Top boarding schools in Gurgaon offer best of the class security and staff members.
·         This staff is experienced enough to take care of your child.
·         Try to curtail your parental visit as it might not let the child adjust to being independent.
There are more guidelines to follow; however, these four points take care of money issues, ambiance and staff members of the boarding school. It also ensures you give enough space to your child to spread their wings and enjoy the boarding lifestyle.

·         Being capable to form empathic relationships.
Four Basis of Curriculum of Best International Schools in Gurgaon
The basis of the curriculum stands on specific principles and factors. For most of the top international schools, there are 4 aspects as follows-
·         No Rote Learning – Students should understand the topic and produce an answer as per their intellect. Cramming or imitation is not acceptable.
·         Stress-free Environment – Students should focus on learning without taking stress in everything. They should concentrate on performing to their best ability which is required for a happy and content life.
·         Self-discipline – Students follow a routine and disciplined lifestyle which will help in cultivating qualities like time and self-management. Teachers and staff members encourage these qualities, without imbibing any fear of punishment or driven by other.

Most of the schools following on the steps of the international standard of education generally work either on IB curriculum or CIE. Schools following IB curriculum offer three programs – IB PYP, IB MYP, and IBDP. These programs structure around 5 skills, 12 attitudes, and 10 attributes.
Five skills: Communication,     Independent thinking, Research, Social relations & Self- management.
Twelve attitudes: Appreciation,     Commitment, Confidence, Cooperation, Creativity, Curiosity, Empathy,     Enthusiasm, Independence, Integrity, Respect, and Tolerance
Ten attributes: Inquirer, Thinker,     Principled, Knowledgeable, Caring, Open-minded, Balanced, Reflective,     Courageous and Communicator

There is also detailed guidance on the scope of knowledge, methodology and teacher training.
Early Indian Education System
The mindset regarding the extracurricular activities and social values in schools, in the earlier times, did not come under the school’s responsibility. Not even half of the assessment that an International school in India follows now, was part of the education back then.
·         Many schools were catering to the belief that the learning given to children from school was their responsibility.
·         Schools, in that time, put this burden and responsibility on the shoulders of tuition teachers and parents.
·         Most of the time parents were, at that time, asked to step up and teach their children at home some of the minimal skills.
·         The subjects and education main aim, in olden days, was to teach communication in English language and self-branding.
·         Not even 50% of the extra activities that International schools in India teach now were part of the education then.
The change from the old Indian education system to the current curriculum is vast. However, children, now in this age, of modern education garner a lot of additional knowledge and values from their respective
international school
or local public school. This change brings out humanitarian and complete all-round personality of the child in their later age.

What is Restricting Modern Day Education in Primary Schools in Gurgaon?
Education offered in Primary Schools in Gurgaon in this modern time and age has diversified. In order to incorporate the personality development and needs of these young children, the change is imperative.
·         The expectation from the top primary schools is to provide all-round learning inclusive of academic and co-curricular activities.
·         This ensures the student is getting the education as well as growing physically and emotionally.
·         Most of the schools in Gurgaon are starting to cater for the extensive level of curriculum.
·         This, in turn, ensures that all the challenges of complete education and development are getting satisfaction.
·         Parents can have complete knowledge of the balance between arts and sports in terms of textbook education.
Tumblr media
Something Amiss with Education in Top Primary School in Gurgaon
Every effort has been made by these international primary schools to provide complete all-round education. However, there are certain factors which restrain students from getting the required quality of learning and thereafter, personality development. Some examples of this are lack of social and cultural awareness pertaining to global issues. They, in turn, make the student more unaware about the cultural issues that the society is facing.
These values are important to create a responsible individual to lead back into society. The focus of the best primary school in Gurgaon is to inculcate qualities like integrity, compassion, honesty, and patriotism in children. The problem crops when the extra development apart from academics take a backseat as the children rise in classes.
Switching the Blame on Different Factors
Many schools in Gurgaon offer the explanation by shifting blame on other factors when asked about this lack of awareness and qualities. Teaching both cultural and social traits don’t take precedence over textbook learning in many schools across India for which most common reasons are as follows.
Shortage of Time
Top primary schools in Gurgaon, as a way of explanation for not working on extra activities, cite the shortage of time a factor.
·         Many schools assert time shortage for completing academic education let alone work on social and cultural traits.
·         Parents also put out pressure on teachers to focus on co-curricular activities.
·         They want schools to help in building an all-around personality of their children.
·         This makes imbibing other social values in students an even more difficult task.
The expectations of parents and shortage of time combination make schools in Gurgaon unable to give proper time for other values. This invariably makes for a prime reason.
Stressful for Students in Primary Schools in Gurgaon
The management, staff, and teachers of many schools are of the opinion that these values will add to the stress of children.
·         The teachers of top primary schools in Gurgaon insist that teaching social and cultural values is another added subject
·         This greatly increases stress as academic competition is already at another level.
·         Moreover, they are also reeling under the pressure of both academic and co-curricular activities.
·         The schools, however, need to integrate these values in daily classes and not treat them as separate subjects.
Once the best of the best primary schools in Gurgaon realize that teaching social and cultural norms are not the separate subject, this factor will cease to be another reason for not imbibing these values in our children.
Students can learn at any age
Many top schools in Gurgaon believe that these social norms and cultural values are all pervasive and children can imbibe them at any point.
·         This misconception lead schools to give this as a reason for not teaching these values at school.
·         They form an integral part of the life of all individuals which means that most learn them throughout their life.
·         The teacher and staff member, thus, argue that social values students can learn after they pass out from schools.
·         However, most of the schools forget that learning taught here form the base of the personality of the students.
·         The future of a child starts taking shape on the basis of what they learn in schools.
·         Thus, social values should be made part of daily teachings starting from the primary school in Gurgaon.
If the teachers do not make it a point to teach cultural norms in school, children will find it hard to accept and imbibe these values at the later stage.
Responsibility of Parents
The last and most common factor that most of the top primary schools in Gurgaon shift blame over to our parents.
·         The schools believe that teaching of social and cultural norms are more of parents’ responsibility than school.
·         It is a universal truth that inculcating most of cultural rules and norms come under parents’ domain.
·         However, schools play an equally integral part in it as they can further drive these values and norms on a global platform.
·         Thus, it is the combined responsibility of both parents and schools to imbibe social values and cultural norms in children.
No matter how many factors are brought in this argument, it is a fact that the values children learn at school level stay with them for life. Top primary schools in Gurgaon needs to accept that to develop a humanitarian personality of a child academic, co-curricular activities and social norms all go hand-in-hand.
