What if when Mav pulled Bradley's papers, he didn't just ruin his relationship with Bradley?

Carole dies when Bradley is seven years old, and less than a year later, Tom takes the promotion to Admiral, years earlier than he wanted.

He loves Bradley like his own son, but he also knows there's nothing legally tying them together. It's a deep insecurity.

Maverick assures him that he's just as much Bradley's father as he is, that Bradley loves him. He always makes sure he and Ice make decisions together, and after a while, Ice finally starts to believe it.

Then Maverick goes behind their backs to pull Bradley's papers. Asks Slider, of all people. Ice's RIO.

Bradley leaves that night.

Ice leaves the next morning.

It's Bradley who goes to bat for his dad, who tells Tom that Pete loves him, that he didn't intend to break them up. Bradley looks sick with guilt.

"I know you still love him, pops."

"So do you—it doesn't mean you're going back."

Because a relationship isn't just love. It's trust, and respect. And Ice is struggling to trust Pete, who promised him they'd make decisions about their son together. And he feels disrespected, too. Disregarded.

So Ice and Mav break up when Bradley is 18 years old, and Bradley is absolutely furious at Maverick, but all of a sudden that anger has to take a backburner because he can't imagine his parents not being together. It's not right. And how can he leave when both of them are alone? Who is checking on dad? Who's making sure pops isn't overworking himself?

And it's a brand new world, after that.

Pete Mitchell was ready to stare death in the face, having just lost his wingman and refusing to lose Bradley too. Fully well expecting for this to be his LAST mission.

What better way to go out than with his wingman with him for one last flight….pinned to his chest, overtop his heart, exactly where he was supposed to be.

Me, age 10, doing an essay on the pharaoh’s curse for school: huh. So this archeologist that died and everyone thought it was because he disturbed the pharaoh’s tomb actually died because he used a rusty razor to shave and it infected a mosquito bite. I can see how people could come to that conclusion, but it is a bit silly

Friend group chats are fun. Today one of my friends, who keeps pet crayfish, found babies in a tank that was supposed to be a males only. No choice but to empty out the whole tank to fish out the babies of unknowable origins. But lo and behold, there was a culprit: one teeny tiny little female had somehow escaped containment, evidently specifically going out of her way to break into this all male tank to get railed by like 15 males twice her size. Possibly completely different breed, too. Monsterfucker supreme.

So for a good solid hour or so, the whole group chat was focused on. slutshaming this one specific little crustacean. With like 300 babies.

One should always have at least 2 craft projects going. That way, when one of them is messed up and misbehaving, you can switch to another, and let the first one sit there and think about what it's done.

i appreciate that buck’s coming out wasn’t a big deal and think that makes sense for him as a character. that being said, when we get eddie’s gay arc, i want him to be a WRECK. i want him sobbing in frank’s office, wracked with guilt about how he didn’t actually love shannon and how he can never give chris a mom. i want him to realize he’s in love with buck and have a panic attack. i want him to sit with these things for a bit until he realizes that his love for buck is actually beautiful and can’t possibly be a bad thing. i want him to recognize that chris doesn’t need a mother, not when he has his buck. i want him to tell buck to stay with them and make the choice on his own to kiss him. i want him to sit chris down and tell him, and maybe chris needs a second to process it but he’s supportive and loves his dad. i want him to realize he’s not going to get that kind of support from his own parents. i want him to get married to buck and maybe neither of their biological parents are there, but their REAL family is.
