Hey hey hey!!!! How exactly did Lock end up getting her callsign???

ah thanks for asking!! might be a bit long of an answer lol but tldr too!

after returning to britain and enlisting, ryland got stuck in a secured room during a simulation while clearing a building. the door locked behind her, and she was trapped for about 30 minutes before her team got to her.

it was an embarrassing ordeal for ryland, who was already fighting accusations of nepotism because of her last name and father. to ensure it wouldn't happen again, she took up physical lockpicking and a bit of digital infiltration.

soon whenever the team leader called out "lock!" about a door, ryland was on it, either helping to break it open or already picking the lock. not every mission could be handled with a sledgehammer!

eventually, the team began shouting "lock!" to grab her attention, and it stuck. she kept the name, sort of seeing it as a way to distance herself from her father's legacy. after joining the SAS, where the callsign was less used, she made sure to introduce herself with it more often.

uh TLDR, got stuck in a locked room, took up lockpicking, people yell out "lock" in front of locked door and she's suddenly there... yipee :D

If Lock were to turn into a fruit what fruit would she be

hMM, i feel like she'd be something a little sour, like a kiwi or cranberry.

kiwi because theyre fresh and still decently sweet, you can enjoy only the good parts or you can eat it entirely with the not-so-tasty but also not-poisonous rind. shes a little like that.

cranberries because they grow in bulk, she'd be just another fruit to pluck out among the rest, like in the army. you also have to enjoy her with an unhealthy dose of sugar. sometimes she brings it herself, sometimes she doesnt.

it's a mutual sort of distaste...

a sketch thing i did a while back, lock and ghost don't get along... thankfully, they're also on very different teams, so they don't have to :D

i feel ghost wouldn't approve of lock in specgru because of her temperament, not to mention the nepotism rumors because of her father. meanwhile lock doesn't enjoy ghost for his entire demeanor, and also because she feels like he treats her as an unworthy soldier, despite all her training and military history.

they are not friends. friendship is not in the field manual. :)
