More dumb headcanons

(this isn't meant to be a meta-analysis; just some headcanons I have)

I know a lot view Kyle as being first and foremost the most pretentious of the main four, and don't get me wrong -- dude can def be pretentious; they all can be. But also, he's definitely no more so than his BFF Stan (and honestly, Stan is highkey MORE pretentious than Kyle in a lot of things). Together, this duo makes up the most unnecessarily pretentious duo in South Park, but they both only get pretentious about the dumbest shit.

like don't even get them started on the newer Star Wars movies (that said, both will admit that Andor has "good aspects" but only after a 45-minute dissertation on why it doesn't fix the fundamental problems with Disney's approach to the franchise). Actually, it's best to just not ever invite either to TV or movie night because they WILL find a lot of what you love lame.

you want to play some basic bitch game like Yahtzee or Settlers of Catan at friend game night? Stan will scoff about your "kindergarten taste in games" 100% while pulling out some incomprehensible Euro-game with 400 pieces that takes like three hours just to set up (even kyle gets v annoyed with him here)

kyle's pretentiousness is usually rooted in some type of moral conviction (though not always). And Stan's usually is just pure snobbery mixed with his nihilistic 'everything sucks' worldview he sometimes falls into even though he still views monty python as the height of cinema lmao

so while Stan is usually more 'pretentious' about things like music, games, etc, when you put stan and kyle together, they can just be insufferable to others. their friends still love them tho <3
