Hey there, Kaito! According to the Monopad entry on you, you're a fan of house plants, right? Well, here is a little information on a type of plant that might interest you!

First off, a history lesson:

Japan has a wide variety of emblems that are used to identify an individual or a family, with some of the earliest dating back to the mid-Heian period between the years 900 and 1000. There exist varying names for these emblems, such as "Mon," which can be used to describe any identificating emblem, while "Kamon" is exclusively used to identify a family.

The "Hanakomon," although not having as detailed and long of a history, is another group of emblems that were created when Japan incorporated the Gregorian Calander from the western world in the late 1800s. There exist 366 Hanakomon emblems, one for each day of the year, including a leap year. Each one of them are based on a flower. In a way, they could be considered one's birth flower.

The Hanakomon for the 12th of April has the English name of the Japanese Rose and the Japanese name of Yamabuki, a word that literally translates to "mountain breeze," and can refer to one of three things: a flower (Kerria japonica), a type of koi (from Yamabuki Ogon), and a golden yellow colour (known as yamabukiiro, shared by the flower and the koi, although the koi has a metallic coloration).

The Japanese Rose is a symbol of luck and elegance. There are two variations of the flower. Its natural form grows in thickets on mountain slopes and has five petals around a lot of long and spindly stamen. They look like this:

The second variation is the cultivar type, which has far more petals in multiple layers, with no visible stamen. They look like this:

The Hanakomon Calander also includes a daily word, which, in the case of the 12th of April, is: "Smiling Face - A smile brings happiness."
