Obsessed with stories that preface their own tragedies. They stare you dead in the eye and tell you it will end badly. You watch the characters hurdle towards their doom, unable to do anything but watch. They'll give you hope that this time everyone will make it out, that just this once everything will be okay, only to snatch it away at the last moment. and when you're left grieving the end, you have no one to blame but yourself because they *told* you this was going to happen. there was no other way this could have ended

Posting faggot and queer like 2am gunshots to keep property values on my blog low and scare away assimilationist LGBTs who want to replace my empty lot full of native wildflowers with a 5-over-1 because they're too traumatized by their upbringing to accept the reality of our diverse marginalized community

There is no "after the revolution." No "ideal world." I don't care how much progress we make, we will always fail someone, hurt someone, and the best thing we can do is accept that, and keep striving to make it better as we go.
And don't get me wrong, I don't say this to discourage anyone from trying to make that ideal world. Quite the opposite.
I feel like it's very naive to continue to approach these big changes we want to make in the world as if there's an "after it's all over" when we don't have to worry about it anymore.
We should always be striving to make life better, even when life seems pretty damn good.

we put so much importance on romantic love in queer spaces that i think we can forget about how important queer friendships are. having queer friends makes it so much easier to accept yourself and learn to accept others. queer friendships have so much love stored in them

Okay so. This is a wild story.
Back in 2007, when I was 17 years old, I made this little two headed rabbit out of felt. I used to wear him in my hair to high school. I took the below photo on my digital camera on top of a school desk and uploaded it to deviant art and never thought about it again.
Tumblr media
Last March I got a message on instagram from someone who contacted me because they wanted permission to tattoo something from my deviant art account. I was baffled because it had mostly been cosplay, so I asked what they were interested in and they pulled him up.
I told them I was surprised anyone was interested in him and was fine with it. They immediately were like, what? He's so popular, hasn't anyone told you?
I did a quick google search and honestly nothing could have prepared me.
In the nearly 15 years since I had uploaded this photo it had gone BERSERK. Pinterest has dozens of copies of him, artwork of him, remakes inspired by him, DUPES being sold for years online. Reverse image search showed countless pfps, album covers, memes, edits, A PICREW, endless amazon and alixpress and redbubble products with him slapped on it.
I also found plenty of art, edited videos, all sorts of positive things. And all together its been a rollercoaster of emotions watching something you made when you were a teenager skyrocket in popularity and no one thought to tell you.

I sat on this for a long time, I had to process a lot of emotions about seeing something I had created and kept be whisked off and used like this. I enjoyed the creative work and inspiration, and I despised the people who used it as a chance to make money off an uncredited artist, one who happens to be trans, queer, disabled and native. I feel I should be going out guns blazing and taking down all the listings that are selling him, but it feels ..... I dont know. It feels like a lost cause.
I further sat on it until a friend who knew sent me a photo of a new product Marc Jacobs is putting out.
Tumblr media
And Im.
:')
Anyways.
I would love to get the word out that the creator of the two headed rabbit beloved by creative internet weirdos was not made by an anonymous mysterious nothingness, but by a trans and queer and deeply hurting seventeen year old who grew up to be a very happy adult who is still creating things.
Please help me get the word out. I posted this video on both my doll accounts on instagram and tiktok, please share around, please give me a follow to support my new work.

so much of being an ok person is just 1) not panicking, 2) not taking things personally, and 3) not letting the vindictive gargoyle that lives in your head tell you what to do. this sucks because brains love doing those things

since a lot of people don't have the opportunity to interact with irl queer spaces, i want to point out yet another reason why "lesbian spaces are for women ONLY" doesn't work. attending a queer space for the first time, especially while questioning your identity, is scary. you don't know the terms or lingo yet, you don't know exactly how you feel about your queer experience, you're still discovering yourself. a lot of people bring friends, or even family, to queer spaces for support. sometimes those friends and family are cishet
the first time i went to my university's pride organization, i took my cishet ally best friend. the first time i went to my current city's trans resource center to ask about starting testosterone HRT, i took my cishet ally best friend. neither time were either of them questioned. nobody saw either of them as a threat. they were welcomed just like i was.
like i don't get why this causes people to hiss like cats, but this is very, very normal, and encouraged because, here's the really important part: when those cishet folks are treated warmly and with an open reception, this creates allies. the most important part of irl queer spaces is the alliance. this part is completely lost in online queer spaces.
my college's pride organization was called "[university]'s Gay/Straight Alliance" this was 15 years ago before we moved toward using "queer" or "LGBT" as an umbrella term and were still using Gay as an umbrella for all queer experiences. the terms could be updated to something more inclusive, but the point still stands that the was on emphasis queer/non queer alliance. you were more than welcome to bring your non-queer friends and family. you were encouraged to come in and ask questions if you were not queer, but wanted to learn more. it was a space that welcomed everyone.
like, sometimes, the supportive ally parents of queer children show up, too, and we have to let them in. why would we ever sacrifice educating cishet parents on how to properly treat their children for the sake of "keeping the space for [identity] ONLY"? why would we deny cishet family members the education they need to gender and address their family members correctly? to learn more about our culture and accept us?
this is the literal lifeblood of our community. we need to open our doors to allies. we need to allow people to bring their friends and families, it's how queerphobes and non queer people come to accept and humanize us. all queer spaces need to be this accepting. and besides, we should never alienate people who are just coming out, or used to identify with a gender that doesn't "Belong" in your community. that's just not how we work around these parts.
