forever yearning for something i once had and took for granted. if i had it now i would be so much happier, though i suppose the whole value of time is that once it leaves it never comes back

i often think back on times where i was “less than” what i am now and scrutinize the poor soul i used to be. i forget that poor soul once lived in my body and thought those same thoughts about who they used to be and i wonder if i’ll ever truly be better than before. if instead im going to cycle through who i am until i shed my last skin and realize that the whole time, i was simply doing my best.
