I think painting and drawing studies are so crucial to one's development in art. This small painting (A4 oil painting paper) is a facial skin and lip study in progress. Oil painting is still new to me and studies help me get comfortable with my color mixing. Studies are never a waste of time. I haven't done much this week but I'm making progress with my study... I have deviated from the tutorial I'm following, in an attempt to try and understand oils! That's the maverick in me! Hey everyone, this past week Lexi and I worked on a new project, drawing and colouring in Red from Angry Birds! I must admit, it was fun having Lexi join in and colour with me. Here is my latest drawing of my daughter Lexi... Now I must admit, it was a struggle finishing this piece and there are some technical errors within it. I now realise the importance of using good artist quality colour pencils like Prismacolors or Polychromos. For this artwork, I mainly used supermarket bought stuff. There is a reason why good tools cost a lot. So, my goal is to save up and upgrade my color pencil set to a pro set.
