(Break-Up and Make-Up, Feelings with a Happy Ending. Happy new year everyone!🎊)
Once, Remus and Sirius were together and very much in love. Or at least Remus had been. For Sirius, it hadn't even been worth trying long-distance for. Now, it's been years, and Remus and Sirius are still drawn to each other.
How It Glistened As It Fell
All Too Well - Taylor Swift
Sirius shrugs. “We’ll have to spend time together anyway, we should make the most of it and use it to our advantage.”
“Just to be clear,” Remus swallows. “You’re suggesting... hooking up?”
“Only for the duration of our stay.”
“Right. Of course.”
“You’re single, I’m single, we’re both here. There’s always been this physical attraction between us, I don’t think that’s changed. There’s something pulling us towards each other, and I see no reason to keep fighting it.”
Remus hesitates for a moment before replying. “Yeah, why not?”
Why not? Why not?
Right now, waking up in the bed in the lodge next to Sirius, with Sirius’ arms wrapped tightly around him, Sirius’ head resting on his chest, the feel of Sirius’ soft hair against his cheek, Sirius’ still familiar scent surrounding him, competed by the golden sunlight falling through the bedroom window beautifully illuminating Sirius’ sleeping face, Remus can think of a hundred reasons why not.
Because I was quite enjoying not wanting to rip my heart out every time something reminds me of you.
Because I prefer my mental health intact, thank you very much.
Because it was a hell of a lot of work to get over you, and it would be quite a waste if a few days made it all for nothing.
Because you never looking at me like that again is still better than you looking at me like that, but knowing it isn’t real, perhaps it never was.
Because it cannot be casual, not for me, not when it’s you.
But it’s too late. Remus allowed himself to fall into Sirius’ embrace and wake up in his arms the next morning, and now he’s utterly screwed. Keeping his mental health intact is a ship that’s sailed.
Sirius and Remus used to be together, once upon a time. It had been good, and Remus had been very in love.
Technically, it ended because Remus was offered a great internship position oversees. He simply couldn’t refuse, didn’t want to refuse, Sirius hadn’t wanted him to refuse. So he left, and that had been the end of it. In reality, though, it ended because Remus, in a moment of weakness, had asked Sirius to do long-distance, and Sirius had refused. Remus had expected it, really. After all, Sirius had always been too good for him, he always knew he wouldn’t be able to keep him. Of course Sirius wouldn’t be waiting for a boyfriend far away he could hardly ever see when men were lining up for him.
Remus had done his internship, got offered a job, and ended up staying in America for several years. He has only recently returned. He stayed in contact with his friends from England, especially James and Lily, and even Sirius, albeit superficially. They had been friends before anything else, after all.
Now, Remus had moved back to England only a couple weeks ago, and of course he couldn’t escape spending the Holidays with his friends. Well, he wanted to see them, of course, just... Sirius. That’s still sensitive.
Christmas and New Year’s alone would’ve made him nervous enough, but now Frank and Alice are getting married in the days between. They’ve booked rooms in a beautiful lodge surrounded by tall pine trees and snowy mountains for three days for all their friends to stay. And if that wasn’t intense enough, it was Frank and Alice, James and Lily, Dorcas and Marlene, Peter and Mary, Gideon and Emmeline, Fabian and Benjy. In short, all couples plus Remus and Sirius. Which means they have to share a room as well.
From the moment they saw each other, it was clear there was still attraction between them, and they were drawn to each other like moths to a flame. The whole room could sense how the air between them was charged. Sirius was quick acknowledge this tension between them, and said it shouldn’t be a surprise he’s still physically attracted to Remus.
“Because why would it be? You look amazing, Remus.”
And of course, Sirius has always been, and still is, one of the most handsome man Remus has ever seen. Denying that Sirius is handsome would be like denying the grass is green. Remus had admitted it was the same for him, so it was quickly established they were both attracted to each other, not involved with anyone else, and about to share a room for the upcoming days. Hence Sirius’ suggestion to just let what almost seemed inevitable happen.
So Remus finds himself waking up in the arms of the person he now realises he never quite got over. He closes his eyes and takes a few steadying breaths, before he carefully trying to unwrap himself from Sirius’ arms.
Sirius hums, tightens his grip and nuzzles his face in Remus’ neck. “Just a few more minutes, love.”
Remus breath hitches and he freezes.
Sirius blinks his eyes open, and it slowly comes back to him where he is and why, and he seems to realise what he just said. He pushes himself up, stares at Remus wide-eyed and opens his mouth to apologize.
Remus can’t take it.
He jumps out of bed, quickly slips into his sneakers and dashes out if the room.
Remus sits outside on the edge of the front porch, his head resting against the railing, his knees tucked against his chest, shivering in his pyjamas, just as a light snow starts falling.
He hears the door open and close behind him. A blanket is placed over his shoulders.
Sirius.
Remus glances over at him. He must’ve thrown on the first thing he saw, which is Remus’ jumper. Remus’ heart tugs painfully at the observation. Sirius is still shivering, though, in his pyjama bottoms and socked feet. Remus wants to wrap his arms around him to keep him warm and never let him go, and simultaneously wants him to leave and not come back.
“I’m sorry,” Sirius says. “I shouldn’t have said that. I didn’t mean to say that.”
Remus involuntarily flinches. He wishes Sirius would understand that it gives no comfort to hear he didn’t mean it, it’s what makes it so damn painful in the first place.
“Look,” Sirius says, running a hand through his hair as Remus doesn’t reply. “If you feel guilty because you think you’ve been leading me on, and now I’ve fallen back in love with you or something, that’s not the case.”
It hurts. So much. Remus inwardly prays for Sirius to Just. Stop. Talking.
“You don’t have to worry that my feelings for you have returned due to these days together.”
Every word he says feels like a dagger to Remus’ heart.
“They haven’t returned,” Sirius continues, merciless. “They never left, and I knew that when I suggested to cross that line while staying here. I chose to do that knowing I wasn’t over you.”
Remus jerks his head up in shock and turns to Sirius. “You... you can’t still have feelings for me! You can’t!”
Sirius just looks at him.
Remus shakes his head. “You didn’t want to do long-distance! If you truly felt so strong about me, then it wouldn’t have been such a problem! Then you wouldn’t have minded so much to stay committed, not date other people!”
“I wouldn’t have,” Sirius says, looking at Remus calmly. “But would you have believed me?”
Remus opens his mouth to reply, but then he pauses, for the first time in a long time truly thinking about his relationship with Sirius, and what it was really like.
It was great. When Remus and Sirius were together, it was great. When they were apart, however... Remus just couldn’t shake the thought that Sirius was too good for him, and that one day, Sirius will realise that too. The thought that when he’s not with Remus, he can meet someone more handsome, more fun, more bold than Remus at any moment. Remus would be filled with dread and anxiety every time Sirius was away, thinking that each time was going to be the time Sirius would not return to him. He would get in his own head and drive himself crazy with worry. What made it worse was that, while Remus has always hated clubbing and dancing, Sirius, being the social person he is, loved it. And when Sirius was out, Remus would check his phone every five minutes, wouldn’t sleep and would restlessly pace his apartment all night.
Not wanting Sirius to think he didn’t trust him, because really, it hadn’t been him, Sirius was thoughtful and considerate, Remus had pretended everything was alright when Sirius came back and hidden his anxiety from Sirius, or so he thought. Looking at the sad expression in Sirius’ eyes now, though, makes him realise that Sirius knew.
“It already was so hard on you when we were living in the same city,” Sirius says, sitting down next to Remus, looking at the snow-covered landscape under the grey sky. “If we would be living in different continents, the toll on your mental health simply would’ve been too high.”
“I knew that,” Remus says, his voice sounding hoarse. “I knew that when I asked you, but I decided to ask anyway. That was my decision.”
Sirius smiles at him sadly. “And it meant so much to me. When you asked, when you decided that the constant stress and anxiety would be worth it if you got to have me, that meant the world to me, Remus. I was tempted, so very tempted.” He shakes his head. “But I couldn’t. I couldn’t be selfish, I couldn’t let you do that to yourself. I had to let you go.”
Slowly, Remus starts to realise. “It was never going to work,” he whispers as he stares at the tall pine trees ahead. “I just wanted you to want long-distance, but deep down, I think I always knew it was never going to work.” He turns his gaze back to Sirius. “It needed to be done, and I suppose one of us needed to be strong enough to do it.”
“It needed to be done,” Sirius agrees, and Remus thinks the tears in his eyes aren’t from the sharp wind. “But damn it if it wasn’t the hardest thing I ever had to do.”
Remus moves closer until their legs are touching, and he takes one corner of his blanket and places it around Sirius’ shoulder. He leans against Sirius and rests his head on his shoulder. “Thank you,” he whispers.
Sirius takes his hand and links their fingers together and like that, they watch the snow fall.
“You know,” a smile tugs at the corner of Sirius’ mouth. “We’ll have to spend time together anyway, we should make the most of it and use it to our advantage.”
“Just to be clear,” Remus replies, unable to keep the laughter from his voice. “You’re suggesting... getting back together?”
“Only for the rest of our lives.”
“Right. Of course.”
“You’re single, I’m single, we’re both here. We’ve always been madly in love with each other, I don’t think that’s changed. There’s something pulling us towards each other, and I see no reason to keep fighting it.”
Remus looks at Sirius for a moment, eyes filled with warmth and love, before replying. “Yeah, why not?”

Kicking my feet, giggling and twirling my hair the whole time
chapter 11: prague
chapter excerpt:
Remus leans over to blow the smoke outside, exposing the side of his neck where the skin is shadowed in bruises. “Shit,” Sirius says, reaching out to touch the mottled purple and pink. “Sorry.” Remus’s eyes flick up to his. Ochre. Sirius knows precisely what paint he’d use to colour his eyes. The bruises, too: Crimson and Cobalt. With a touch of Titanium and a smidge of Cadmium. “I don’t mind,” Remus says, lifting the cigarette to his mouth.
fic summary:
Sirius is dumped by his girlfriend and drags his best friend on a holiday across Europe. And somewhere between Berlin clubs, Parisian boulevards, and Transylvanian villages, they fall into each other.

(Not so micro, but written for @wolfstarmicrofic! Extremely Pining Sirius and Extremely Oblivious Remus Lupin)
6th: Bond
Sirius doesn't tick any of Remus’ boxes. No matter how strong their bond is, no matter how Sirius is the only one who gives Remus that sense of belonging, they're just not compatible... Right?
The Thing We Don't Talk About
“He made the wrong decision,” Remus says pointedly. “And he has to live with it. Why would I have to suffer the consequences for his mistakes?”
“For god’s sake, Remus,” Lily says exasperatedly. “He just took a bite from your dessert!”
“It was chocolate cake!” Remus glares at Lily. “And it’s not that hard! If you want dessert, order dessert, if you don’t want dessert, don’t order dessert, but leave me out of it!”
“So,” Marlene says, sipping her tea. “I take it there’s not going to be a second date?”
“Certainly not,” Remus says. “He clearly doesn’t have the same values as I have.”
Mary rolls her eyes. “ ‘Wanting to share dessert’, we can add that to the list. What did the previous one do again? Put sugar in his tea, was it?”
“It was the perfect blend, and he ruined it!”
“Remus,” Lily says carefully. “Have you ever wondered if maybe you are too critical?”
“When I was picking out curtains you made me go to five different stores and try out four different samples before making a decision!” Remus replies. “How am I allowed to be critical about a piece of fabric, but not about the person I might spend the rest of my life with?”
“Because it’s getting you nowhere!” Mary exclaims. “You’ll end up being single your whole life.”
“I want someone who’s the same kind of person as I am, who’s on the same page as me, who shares my interests and preferences, and otherwise, I’d rather be alone,” Remus shrugs.
“But surely someone doesn’t have to share all your interests!” Lily tries.
“Am I really asking for so much?” Remus asks. “Someone whose favourite moments also consist of drinking a perfect cup of tea with their favourite pastry, shares my interest in art history and loves to go to museums, and also listens to classical music. I don’t even care about his job or his looks!” Remus sighs. “Maybe the guy I’m looking for just cannot be found in the city. Maybe I should broaden my search to out of town.”
“Or maybe you should narrow your search to within your apartment,” Marlene mumbles, looking out of the window.
“Marlene!” Lily says warningly.
“Oh, come on, Lily!” Marlene suddenly snaps. “I’m sick of it! I’m sick of having to deal with these pretentious idiots Remus keeps going out with, when he has this perfect, drop-dead gorgeous man, who literally worships the very ground he walks on, living in right in his own bloody apartment!”
“I know, Marlene,” Lily says. “But Remus can’t help it if he just doesn’t feel that way-”
“Sirius isn’t in love with me,” Remus interrupts.
Lily stops mid-sentence and both she and Marlene whip their heads around to stare at Remus, while Mary spits out her tea and starts to cough.
“Please tell me you’re kidding,” Lily says eventually, as she finds her voice.
Remus blinks. “You actually think Sirius is in love with me?”
“No,” Mary says slowly. “We know Sirius is in love with you. He has been since our second year of college.”
“Why did no one ever thought to tell me?” Remus exclaims.
“It’s so obvious!” Marlene exclaims. “We assumed you knew! Hell, everybody and their nan knows! Literally. I saw Dorcas’ nan the other day, and the first thing she asked me was ‘is that Sirius boy still pining after that Remus boy?’”
Remus looks from one girl to the other. “If I had known, don’t you think I would’ve somehow acknowledged it, at least once?”
“We assumed you just didn’t feel the same,” Mary says, eying Remus. “And that not mentioning it was your way of dealing with it, so you wouldn’t have to hurt Sirius.”
“Wait,” Lily says. “When you and Sirius moved in together after college, James had this talk with Sirius where he asked him whether it was really a good idea, and you were right there! James told Sirius it wasn’t good for his mental health, and that he was just torturing himself by doing it! What the hell did you think that was about?”
Remus stares at the table, his cheeks heating up. He remembers that conversation. He remembers feeling slightly insulted by James’ words and he remembers Sirius assuring James that it was fine, that he could handle it. “I thought he meant because I always leave my dirty dishes in the sink,” he mumbles.
Lily looks at him, then shakes her head. “Unbelievable. Unbe-fucking-lievable.”
“It... It doesn’t matter anyway,” Remus says, trying to sound convincing while his head is spinning. “Sirius and I are so different. We’re not compatible, not at all.”
Remus had first met Sirius at a party when they just started college. Sirius was the light of the party, everyone was drawn to him. Remus learned that Sirius Black was loud and impulsive, drank black coffee and cheap beer, listened to rock music and was into motorcycles.
He didn’t even come close to ticking Remus’ boxes.
Remus had written Sirius off as boyfriend material back then and never reconsidered. He had written Sirius off, and never thought to revise that decision. Even when Sirius and he unexpectedly became close friends and formed a strong bond, even when he learned how smart, loyal and caring Sirius is, even when he could talk to Sirius about anything, even when he didn’t feel as comfortable just being himself with anyone else as he did with Sirius, even when Sirius somehow became ‘home’, Remus did not come back on his decision and didn’t revise it.
“H-he doesn’t even drink tea!” Remus exclaims.
“What does that matter if he knows exactly how to make your favourite tea to bring it to you whenever you feel sick?” Marlene says.
“And... And he doesn’t like sweet foods.”
“What does that matter if he goes out of his way to go to that bakery on the other side of town to get you those cinnamon rolls you love so much whenever you feel down?” Mary says.
“He doesn’t know the first thing about art history!”
“What does that matter if he can listen to you go on about if for hours?” Marlene says.
“We don’t even like the same music...”
“Remus,” Lily says gently. “You once told me that your favourite part of the day is doing the dishes together with Sirius, as you put awful music on and both sing along as loud as you can and dance around the living room together. What does it matter, what does any of it matter, when you’ve got someone who makes you feel like that?”
For a long moment, Remus just stares at her. Then he suddenly gets up from his chair. “I have to go.”
Sirius is standing in the kitchen, his hair tied in a bun, humming to himself while mixing ingredients together in a bowl.
As Remus looks at him, he wonders how he did not see sooner what was right in front of him?
Sirius turns his head and gives Remus a bright smile when he sees him. “You’re home early!” He says, turning back to the bowl. “I’m making your mother’s chocolate cake, and it was supposed to be a surprise.” He gives Remus a brief grin. “To help you cope with the Dessert Sharing Trauma.”
Remus just says it. “You’re in love with me.”
“Yes?” Sirius asks while measuring flour.
Remus shakes his head. He still can’t quite wrap his head around it. “You’re in love with me.”
Sirius frowns. “Right. Are we suddenly talking about this now? I thought we agreed it’s the Thing We Don’t Talk About.”
Remus sighs, cursing himself for letting this go on for so long. “Maybe it shouldn’t be.”
Sirius turns away from the kitchen counter to look at Remus. “Really? You’re worried about this now? Look, Remus,” He runs a hand over his face, leaving a streak of flower. “It’s okay. I’ve got it under control. Besides, I know I’m not what you’re looking for, so don’t worry about me getting any false hope or anything.” He rolls his eyes. “I don’t tick any of your boxes after all.”
“You don’t,” Remus replies. “You’re uncultured, prefer starters over desserts, and can’t tell the difference between Earl Grey and English Breakfast.”
Sirius smiles sadly. “Yeah, I know.”
He moves to turn back to the kitchen counter, but Remus draws his attention back to him.
“You’re all that,” he says, walking towards Sirius. “You’re all that,” he says, lowering his voice as he stops in front of Sirius, placing a hand on his cheek, brushing away some of the flour, and looking at him in wonder. “And yet, I love you.”
He moves forward, but Sirius stops him with a hand on his shoulder. “I won’t change,” he says with a pained expression, but also a glimmer of hope, in his eyes. “I am who I am. Even if I feel like I would do just about anything to have a chance, I know I can’t – I shouldn’t – change who I am. Not even for you.”
“Good.” Remus smiles. “Because you’re perfect.”

(Hot Sirius Charming Everyone😋)
Petunia was already not best pleased that her younger sister got to invite not only her new boyfriend, but also those other freaks from her school to the Evans' Christmas celebration. It gets worse when Petunia's own friends are all over Lily's handsome friend.
Wherever You Go, You Light Up the Room
Christmas Without You - Ava Max
Petunia was actually quite excited at first.
Her parents are hosting a lovely Christmas celebration back at their home in Cokeworth, and encouraged Petunia to invite as much people as she wanted.
Petunia finished high school earlier this year and is now working as a secretary, and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to invite her new co-workers, to get to know them better outside of work. She might even have invited her boss.
Petunia gets along great with her boss, and things between them are really picking up steam. Just last week, Mr Dursley had told her she looked very presentable, and the other day, he had almost called her ‘Petunia’ instead of ‘Ms Evans’. In return, Petunia had added two cookies instead of one when she brought him his coffee. She still blushes and giggles sometimes just thinking about how forward she has been!
And oh, Vernon Dursley is just such a proper man! Predictable, dependable, and oh, so delightfully normal! With Petunia’s younger sister always having been ‘the special one’, Petunia has resigned to being the normal one, embraced it even, and she’s going to be not just normal, but perfectly normal. Making her interest known to a man such as Mr Dursley, followed up by a few dates where he picks her up and drops her off at her parents’ house, him after a proper amount of time proposing when having obtained her father’s permission, and eventually her marrying him and quitting her job and moving out of her parents’ house to live as his wife just fits perfectly in that plan.
Inviting Mr Dursley to her parents’ Christmas celebration would’ve been a great way to get to know him in a different setting, and for her parents to meet him without putting too much pressure on it.
Of course, it was all ruined when she heard her younger sister was coming.
And not just that, because, all right, she could’ve expected her parents would invite their other daughter, but her younger sister’s new boyfriend and her friends are all coming! Her younger sister is in her last year of what she calls school, and Petunia had hoped she would spend the Christmas break with her boyfriend’s family. But no, she and those other freaks she knows from that school are coming to the Evans’ Christmas celebration.
There was absolutely no way Petunia was going to invite anyone from work when those people are around. She will not have her co-workers think she associates with freaks like that! Or have them know that she has a freak like that in her own family.
Of course, they can’t use their so-called magic when normal people are around, but she knows by now that those people are weird enough even without doing their nasty little tricks.
Yet, Petunia didn’t want to be alone at her parents’ party, and they won’t appreciate her missing the celebration, so she decided to invite her friends from school. She has been complaining to them about her weird sister, going to her school for weird kids, ever since they were children, so it’s nothing they don’t already know.
That’s how Petunia finds herself at the party with her parents, her parents’ friends, and her school friends Harriet and Edith.
At first, it’s quite nice, having lovely chats with relatives Petunia hasn’t seen in a while and old friends of her parents, sipping drinks with her friends. That is, of course, before her sister arrives.
“What was that?” Harriet clutches her necklace.
“Probably a car backfiring,” Petunia tries to reassure her, warily looking out the window where the loud bang came from.
Her suspicions are confirmed when a moment later, her sister and her friends walk in.
Lily looks stunning. She’s wearing an emerald green dress that matches her eyes and her dark red hair is hanging loose over her shoulders. She’s smiling brightly, her parents’ pride and joy, immediately the light of the party, and the centre of attention, as always.
And now there’s also the boyfriend.
Her parents think he’s oh, so charming, with his open expression and always that disarming grin, but Petunia thinks he’s just slightly too pleased with himself. It annoys her that even for her parents’ Christmas celebration he couldn’t be bothered to try and make his hair look decent. Even worse, it looks like he’s messing it up on purpose. At least he’s wearing proper clothes this time. When Lily brought him over for dinner for the first time, he had been wearing leggings and a bathrobe. He had been surprised at their reactions, and told Lily he went to a Muggle clothes store especially for her.
They sure love throwing that word around: Muggle. It always angers Petunia, no matter how many times Lily explains it’s not a slur, just a term.
Lily must’ve picked out her boyfriend’s clothes this time, as he’s wearing good trousers and a woollen jumper. Most of Lily’s friends luckily seem to know what normal clothes look like, except for two red-headed guys who seem to be wearing chestnut brown dresses. Well, they can pas for whacky art students or something.
While Petunia is thinking about how grateful she is she did not invite Mr Dursley, she vaguely registers hearing a motorcycle outside, but it’s not until Harriet’s and Edith’s simultaneous gasps that she realises another guest has arrived.
Petunia turns to the door, and almost gasps herself. She vaguely wonders if the young man walking in also didn’t know how to wear normal clothes, or whether he chose jeans that tight on purpose and meant to leave that many buttons of his shirt unbuttoned. She realises she’s staring, and quickly looks away, her cheeks heating up.
Harriet and Edith have no such qualms.
Harriet is leaning with her elbows on the table, her head resting on her hands, eying him up and down. “Now, that is a rare specimen.”
“And a fine specimen,” Edith agrees. “They don’t often make ‘em like that.”
Harriet hums. “Keep the candy canes, I prefer the eye candy.”
Edith fans herself with a napkin. “Is it me or had it suddenly gotten a lot hotter in here?”
Petunia is mortified at her friends acting so untoward, just at seeing a handsome man. Not that she thinks he’s handsome, of course.
The man looks around the room, and it’s surely unnatural to have hair that dark with eyes that bright. He spots Lily and Potter, waves and walks over, so if he’s one of them, Petunia supposes he is unnatural.
“Stop it!” Petunia hisses at her friends. “He’s one of those freaks from that school for deviants my sister goes to!”
Harriet rolls her eyes. “Hun, I wouldn’t have cared it he were a bloody werewolf, with cheekbones like that.”
The man walks past and Edith leans over to unsubtly watch him go. “Or a backside like that.”
Petunia scoffs as she takes a sip from her drink, trying very hard to not look at the handsome man’s backside. Not that she thinks he’s handsome, of course.
“Tuney? What’s wrong? Are you not enjoying the party?”
Petunia turns to look at Lily, giving her a hard glare. “What’s wrong? That’s what’s wrong!” She points across the room to where Harriet is giggling and twirling her hair around her finger so much Petunia is worried it’ll get stuck, and Edith is batting her eyelashes while leaning over the table so that practically the whole room can look down her dress, both of them chatting up Lily’s handsome friend. Not that she thinks he’s handsome, of course.
“Ah, yes,” Lily says, studying the scene calmly. “The Infamous Black Charm. Hardly anyone can resist. I’m sorry, I probably should’ve warned you about that. Don’t worry, though. I know just how to put a stop to it.”
Lily looks around the room and for a moment Petunia hopes she’ll turn Harriet’s and Edith’s hair blue, like she did to Petunia a couple of times when they were young, but she immediately pushes the thought away. She would never want Lily to use that awful magic of hers, especially not against her friends, it’s disgusting and wrong. No matter how much she would like to see Harriet’s and Edith’s hair turn blue.
But Lily does not grab her magic stick. Instead, she calls out “Oi, Lupin!”
One of Potter’s friends turns around. He really should’ve been hideous, with scars all across his face, but somehow, his warm honey-coloured eyes make him look sort of... sweet.
Lily points to where Edith is practically shoving her, admittedly quite impressive, bosom against Black. “Resolve that situation, please.”
A wolfish grin spreads over Lupin’s face. “My pleasure.” He marches towards Black and Petunia’s friends.
“What’s he gonna-?” Petunia begins nervously, but before she can finish her sentence, Lupin grabs Black by his collar, pulls him in and starts snogging him senseless. “Oh.”
Petunia stares in shock, and Harriet and Edith look on in bewilderment.
“What...” Black has to gasp for air once Lupin has pulled away. “was that for?”
Lupin smiles, pressing another quick, soft kiss on Black’s lips. “Just clearing something up.”
Harriet and Edith have joined Petunia at her table again, but she’s not sure if that’s actually a good thing, as now they can’t stop gushing about what a cute couple Black and Lupin make. She’s actually relieved when they have to get home. Her relief is short-lived, however, as Lily and her friends join her at her table.
“I’m sorry,” Lupin says, standing beside her, one arm casually wrapped around Black’s waist. “We didn’t mean to take your friends’ attention away from you.”
Petunia would think he was mocking her, but he looks so genuinely sorry and sounds so sincere, it’s almost difficult to snap at him.
Almost.
“I don’t need sympathy from unnatural freaks like you!”
“Oi!” Black protests. “We love each other! You can’t help who you fall in love with, and it doesn’t make us ‘freaks’.”
Petunia states at him. Then crosses her arms over her chest. “I don’t give a rat’s arse down whose throat you want to stick your tongue! I mean that unnatural and freaky magic, or whatever you claim it to be.”
“Oh,” Black says a bit sheepishly. “I’m sorry. I thought you meant because we’re two guys who... Well, you know.”
Petunia bristles. How did they get from her insulting Black to Black apologizing to her? It’s unnerving.
Luckily, Potter makes getting angry a lot easier. “Why do you hate Wizarding folks so much, Tuney?”
“You don’t get to call me that!” Petunia snaps. It’s only when Lily beams at her she realises how it must sound. Like it’s something special between her and Lily. Good god, she thought she had gotten over that when she was twelve. “You wizards think you’re so special, but you just always ruin everything! Like that senile old man who took my sister away to that freakshow he called a school, and even before that, there was this gross, creepy boy always lurking from the bushes when Lily and I were playing, always trying to get Lily away from me. He thought himself just so much better than me, because he was a wizard, and I was ‘just a Muggle’. You’d think that someone who doesn’t even know how to wash his hair wouldn’t be so arrogant, but he had an ego almost the size of his nose, that ugly git from Snape.”
There’s a silence.
“Oh no,” Lupin mutters.
“Here we go,” Lily sighs.
Huge, identical grins spread over Potter’s and Black’s faces.
“What?” Petunia shifts uneasily. “What did I say?”
At that point, Potter and Black appear on either side of her, both throwing an arm around her shoulders.
“Oh, Tuney,” Black says. “I think we’ve gotten off on the wrong foot.”
“Yeah,” Potter agrees. “I have the feeling that if we get to know each other a bit better, we’ll get along splendidly!”

harry potter said i am going to dedicate myself to having a rivalry with a boy who goes to my school who said something sort of rude to my friend and i am going to let almost my whole school experience be defined by him and i am going to constantly be looking for ways to initiate contact with him even if it is the the form of schoolyard bullying and i am going to use my magical map to stalk him and stare at his location on said map while i am laying in bed at night listening to my best friend talk about girls and my obsession with this boy is going to be discussed amongst my friends and it will eventually lead to a tense and heartbreaking interaction in a bathroom in which he tries to hurt me and i succeed in hurting him but i didn’t mean to and i cry over his body and then after i leave school i don’t see him for months but he still crosses my mind and when i do see him he doesnt reveal my identity and thus saves my life and i escape and i steal his wand and later i save him from dying in a fire and he throws a wand to me so i can defeat the dark lord and then i testify on his behalf to keep him from going to prison. i am also a heterosexual

And they were roommates
It's June 1, 1977.
Two massive Heterosexuals, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin, are lying next to each other on the sofa. They're gazing into each other's eyes like Good Mates do, their fingers are interlocked and foreheads pressed together because who doesn't like cuddling their Very Best Friend?
They're whispering I love yous, in a Homie way. They're off to sleep soon, and are planning to share a bed, for logical reasons obviously - it's going to be a chilly night, and all Buddies spoon each other to sleep sometimes.
Occasionally they'll sleep in their own beds, but often one begins to miss the other in the middle of the night. In this case, it's extremely helpful that they happen to be Roommates. Nothing better than crawling into your BFF's arms after a nightmare. As all Bros do.
