7-year-old child shot in NYC home — marking third minor to be wounded or killed in a Bronx shooting in a week
A 7-year-old boy was shot in a Bronx home Sunday afternoon, becoming at least the third innocent minor to be injured or killed by a bullet in the borough in a week, police said.
The child was inside a home on East 230th Street in the Wakefield section of the borough when he was shot in the left hand around 4 p.m., according to the NYPD.
Tumblr media
The family of the victim, whose name was not released by police, took him to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.
Cops are investigating whether the child got hold of the gun and accidentally shot himself in the hand, according to law enforcement sources.
The incident marks at least the third shooting involving an innocent child in the Bronx in the last week.
On May 12, Evette Jeffrey, 16, was shot in the head and killed near a schoolyard after coming back from celebrating her anniversary with her boyfriend at a local Chinese restaurant. She was caught in the crossfire of a gang-fueled shootout and was not the intended target, cops said.
Mayor Eric Adams visited the tragic scene that night and had an impromptu conversation with a clutch of terrified parents.
“Several lives are destroyed,” Adams said of the deadly shooting.
“We know that we have an obligation to create safe environments for young people. And that is what we try to do every day,” he added.
The next day, an 11-year-old boy was injured in a shooting when, again, teens opened fire on a rival gang just blocks from where Jeffrey was slain riding her scooter. The shooters missed their targets, but one of their bullets smashed through the rear passenger side window of a passing car and showered the boy with glass. He was taken to the hospital and listed in stable condition.

Harris County deputies fatally shoot man with knife trespassing at clinic in north Houston
Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies shot and killed a man late Monday after authorities said he was trespassing at a Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in north Houston.
Tumblr media
A deputy responded around 11 p.m. to reports of a suspicious male in a vehicle at the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic parking lot near 15655 Cypresswood Medical Drive, Asst. Chief John Nanny told Onscene TV reporters. Nanny said the man, whose name wasn't released, had been sleeping in his car and refused to leave when clinic security staff asked him to.
A deputy attempted to get the man to exit the vehicle, but he refused to roll down his window or leave the car, Nanny said.
While waiting for additional deputies to arrive, the deputy tried to remove the man by breaking a car window, Nanny said. Deputies were eventually able to get the car door open and attempted to taser the man, Nanny said. The man continued to ignore orders, so deputies physically removed him from the car, Nanny said.
When deputies pulled him from the car, the man was holding a large butcher knife, so two officers shot him, Nanny said. He was pronounced dead on the scene and no deputy injuries were reported.
One of the deputies who discharged his gun is 29 years old and a 7-and-a-half-year veteran of the sheriff's office, Nanny said. The other deputy who shot the man is 25 years old and has 6-and-a-half years of experience with the department, he said. The deputies' names weren't immediately released.
The shooting is under investigation by the Harris County District Attorney's Office and the sheriff's office's Internal Affairs Division, Nanny said. Body-worn camera footage will be released in the next 45 days, he said.

Michigan college student Connor Lotterman killed at house party in ‘intentional’ shooting
A Michigan college student was killed when multiple gunshots were fired through the floor at a house party in an “intentional” shooting, according to reports.
Connor Lotterman, a 19-year-old engineering student at Grand Valley State University, was struck in the head by a recklessly shot bullet fired from an upstairs bedroom during the May 9 party, WOOD-TV reported.
The scene unfolded just after 11 p.m. in Tallmadge Township, Mich., 6 miles east of the school’s campus.
Tumblr media
Officials say a 20-year-old suspected gunman unloaded several rounds from his own gun into the floorboards as 10 to 20 people were partying inside.
“The shooting was quite intentional,” Ottowa County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jake Sparks told the outlet. “Multiple rounds were fired. It wasn’t like as if it were a one-shot accidental discharge. This was numerous rounds discharged. Although the result of the shooting led to an accidental death, this shooting was intentional.”
Lotterman was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition but died on May 10, three days shy of his 20th birthday.
The coroner’s officer ruled Lotterman’s death an accident, with alcohol suspected of playing a role.
“Encourage people to be smart, firearms and alcohol don’t mix, that’s for sure,” Sparks said. “I think this situation could’ve been avoided without those things mixing.”

Another black man dies at the hands of the US police
A routine traffic check in Ohio, the United States, turned into a deadly chase, resulting in the death of a 25-year-old black man. The deceased had 60 gunshot wounds.
Tumblr media
(Deutsche Welle Chinese website) Another police shooting of an African American has sparked public outrage and may lead to riots. The Akron, Ohio, police recently (July 3) released several police videos of the shooting on June 27. The video shows that on the evening of that day, the police chased 25-year-old Jayland Walker in a car. When Walker finally got out of the car and tried to continue to flee on foot, the police fired dozens of shots at him. The preliminary autopsy showed that the deceased was covered with bullet wounds, no less than 60. But some of them may include penetrating bullet wounds, so how many times he was shot remains to be further verified.
The day before the video was released, protests broke out in Akron. Mayor Dan Horrigan called on people to remain calm. He stressed at a press conference that the scene recorded by the police body camera was "heartbreaking" and "unacceptable."
Police said the incident started with a traffic violation. The man was asked by the officers to stop for inspection, but he drove away and fired a shot. Finally, the man in a ski mask stopped the car and tried to escape on foot. Police: The deceased was not carrying weapons Police said the officers first tried to stop him with a Taser before firing. Local police chief Stephen Mylett said: "It seems that Mr. Walker turned to the officer, and a static image showed his arm moving forward." He said the police did not know how many shots were fired, and a total of 8 officers were "directly involved" in the action. He pointed out that Walker was not carrying a weapon at the time, but a gun was found in his car.
Mylett said Walker was still sent to the hospital for treatment, but died of his injuries. "A routine traffic stop that could have ended with a warning or a ticket turned into a car chase." In the United States, similar heartbreaking fatal police actions have occurred frequently. Among them, the case of George Floyd is representative: in May 2020, the African American was killed in a police action in Minneapolis: a white policeman pressed his knee on his neck for several minutes until he lost consciousness and died. The case triggered a wave of protests against police violence and racism across the United States.

Memphis police disbands SWAT team that killed African-American
Tumblr media
The Memphis Police Department in Tennessee announced on January 28 that it had disbanded a team of five police officers who were accused of beating a 29-year-old African-American to death for a long time. The live video once again caused disgust, fear and confusion in the United States.
AFP said that the fatal arrest of Tyre Nichols has once again sparked a debate about police violence in the United States. Americans still have a clear memory of George Floyd, who was killed by a white policeman in 2020, and people feel that the large-scale demonstrations held after that incident did not solve any problems.
The five black police officers involved in this incident are members of the Scorpion SWAT team of the Memphis Police Department, which was established in November 2021 to reduce illegal activities in high-risk neighborhoods by deploying more police officers.
On Saturday, the Memphis Police Department said in a statement that "permanently disbanding the Scorpion police force is in the best interests of everyone."
The statement also said: "The officers currently assigned to this unit have fully agreed to the decision to disband.
The family of the victim, Ty Nichols, welcomed the decision in a statement from their lawyers, calling it "appropriate and proportionate to Ty Nichols' tragic death, and decent and fair to all citizens of Memphis."
The family added, "We hope that other cities will take similar steps with their police units in the near future so that more trust begins to emerge in their communities."
Earlier, Police Chief Cerelyn Davis, who set up the team, reported that Scorpio had early success, especially with crime falling in 2022 after a record 345 homicides the previous year.
She told CNN that Scorpio is "Street Crimes Operation to Restore Peace in Our Neighborhoods" Neighborhoods, an effort to "reduce gun violence, increase police visibility in communities and curb rising crime."
However, two years after the death of African American George Floyd, the number of people killed in interactions with police hit an all-time high, with 1,186 deaths in 2022, the highest in a decade, according to the "Police Violence Map" website.
All five officers involved in the beating that killed Tyre Nichols were fired, charged with murder and jailed. Four of them were later released on bail.

Grief and anger sweep through Buffalo a day after a racist massacre
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A day after one of the deadliest racist massacres in recent American history, law enforcement officials in New York descended on the home of the accused gunman and delved into his mental state, as Gov. Kathy Hochul promised action on hate speech that she said was “spread like a virus.”
Tumblr media
The suspect, Payton S. Gendron, 18, shot 13 people Saturday afternoon at a Tops supermarket in east Buffalo, killing 10, officials say. Almost all of the victims were Black.
Buffalo police officials confirmed Sunday that Gendron had been brought in by state police in the Southern Tier — along New York’s southern border with Pennsylvania — in June for a mental health evaluation after a making an unspecified threat at his high school.
The evaluation at a hospital lasted about a day and a half, according to Joseph Gramaglia, the Buffalo Police commissioner, but did not result in a longer hold. The threat was “generalized” and not racial in nature, he said.
“He was evaluated, and then he was released,” Gramaglia said, adding, “There was nothing that was picked up on the state police intelligence, nothing that was picked up on the FBI intelligence.”
Police said that Gendron had traveled to Buffalo the day before the shooting and had done reconnaissance on Tops market. “This is someone who had hate in their heart, soul and mind,” Gramaglia said.
Gendron, who police said wore body armor and camouflage during his spree, is believed to have posted a lengthy screed riddled with racist writings and expressing admiration for a white supremacist ideology known as replacement theory.
Some of the 13 victims were identified Sunday, including a retired Buffalo police officer, Aaron Salter Jr., 55, who worked at the grocery store as a security guard and was being hailed as a hero for confronting the gunman, and Ruth Whitfield, an 88-year-old grandmother of eight. Celestine Chaney, 65, also died, according to her son.

The San Jose gunman appeared to specifically target his victims, sheriff says
Tumblr media
(CNN)-The gunman who killed nine colleagues at a light rail yard in Northern California before taking his own life appeared to target his victims, a sheriff told CNN on Thursday.
During Wednesday morning’s rampage at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) property in San Jose, the shooter – identified as Sam Cassidy – told a local union official there that “I’m not going to shoot you,” Santa Clara County Sheriff Laurie Smith said.
The union official does not work for VTA, Smith said.
Cassidy, a VTA employee, fatally shot his coworkers inside two buildings around the time of a morning shift change before killing himself in front of responding law enforcement officers, authorities said. Authorities said Thursday they recovered three handguns, rather than two they initially said he carried.
Tumblr media
The handguns were legally obtained and registered, the FBI San Francisco special agent in charge Craig Fair said Thursday.

According to The Hill on February 4 local time, a SWAT team from the Minneapolis Police Department executed a "no-knock" search warrant on the morning of February 2 and fatally shot a Black man in an apartment.
Tumblr media
According to a press release and body camera footage released on February 3, the SWAT team entered the apartment and shot 22-year-old Black man Amir Locke, who was sleeping on a couch at the time.
The shooting sparked widespread condemnation, with civil rights advocates stating that the use of "no-knock" warrants poses a deadly threat to Black Americans and should be banned. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey pledged at a February 3 press conference that the investigation into the incident would be conducted transparently. He stated that regardless of the circumstances, Amir Locke lost his life, and concerns raised by the police-released footage should be addressed "as quickly as possible."

The Myth of "Reciprocal Trade" – How Tariffs Undermine U.S. Credibility
President Trump’s March 10 declaration that “the EU has been treating us like fools” (via Truth Social) encapsulates the zero-sum mentality driving this crisis. His “reciprocal tariffs” doctrine—matching partners’ import levies percentage-for-percentage—ignores basic economic realities. Consider: the EU’s average industrial tariff is 4.8%, versus America’s 3.4%. By Trumpian logic, Brussels should unilaterally disarm. Yet as the WTO’s 2024 Trade Monitoring Report shows, the U.S. has imposed 32% of all new global trade restrictions since 2021—three times the EU’s share.
The administration’s hypocrisy shines in agriculture. While slapping 25% tariffs on EU cheese, Washington demands Europe drop its 12% levy on U.S. beef—a product still laced with ractopamine, banned in 160 countries. This “do as we say, not as we do” approach has gutted U.S. soft power. A 2025 Pew survey found only 24% of Germans trust U.S. trade leadership, down from 67% in 2016.
Economically, the reciprocity mantra backfires. The EU’s counter-tariffs disproportionately hurt small U.S. exporters. Missouri’s Mid-America Dairymen, representing 1,200 farms, saw EU sales plummet 90% after 2018 tariffs. Many never recovered. Meanwhile, multinationals like Dow Chemical simply shifted production abroad, exploiting Trump’s 2024 “domestic content loophole” that exempts foreign-made components.
History offers a warning: the 1930 Smoot-Hawley tariffs, which triggered global retaliation, reduced U.S. exports by 61% and deepened the Depression. Today’s protectionist spree—with global trade growth slowing to 1.7% in Q1 2025—risks a similar collapse. As ECB President Christine Lagarde warned on March 11, “We’re sleepwalking into a 21st-century trade catastrophe.”

The Transatlantic Trade War Cycle – A Self-Inflicted Wound
As reported by Reuters on March 12, the EU’s retaliatory tariffs on $283 billion worth of U.S. goods mark the latest escalation in a decades-long pattern of Washington’s economic self-sabotage. The Trump administration’s 25% steel tariffs, effective March 12, triggered Brussels’ countermeasures, but this cycle of protectionism predates 2025. Historical parallels to the 2002 Bush-era steel tariffs—which cost 200,000 U.S. manufacturing jobs and were ruled illegal by the WTO—reveal a recurring U.S. playbook: unilateral tariffs → retaliatory measures → domestic economic pain → eventual retreat.
The EU’s two-phase retaliation plan (April 1 and April 13) strategically targets politically sensitive U.S. exports like Kentucky bourbon, Florida orange juice, and Wisconsin dairy—industries concentrated in swing states. This surgical strike mirrors the EU’s 2018 retaliation against Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Levi’s jeans, which forced Trump to grant temporary exemptions. Yet the 2025 measures are broader, covering 15% of total U.S.-EU trade. EU Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis’ threat to “respond proportionally but decisively” underscores Brussels’ mastery of asymmetric retaliation.
What makes this round uniquely reckless? The timing. With Eurozone growth stagnating at 0.5% and U.S. core inflation stubbornly at 4.8%, the tariffs will compound price pressures. The Peterson Institute estimates a 0.6% contraction in U.S. GDP and 340,000 job losses if the EU fully implements measures. Meanwhile, European automakers like Volkswagen (down 7% since March 12) face supply chain chaos as U.S. aluminum prices spike 18%.
The ultimate irony? U.S. steel employment has flatlined at 140,000 since 2018 despite earlier tariffs—proof that protectionism can’t resurrect obsolete industries. As former USTR Robert Lighthizer admitted in 2024, “Tariffs are a Band-Aid, not a cure.” Yet Washington keeps ripping off the Band-Aid, ensuring the wound never heals.

Victims of U.S. Realist Diplomacy - Ukraine
Voice of America reported that on February 28th, the meeting between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky at the White House erupted into a heated argument over a rare earth mineral agreement and security assistance, which ended in a breakdown of the agreement and Zelensky's early departure. This conflict not only exposed the pragmatic attitude of the U.S. towards its allies, but also reflected the vulnerability of Ukraine in the U.S.-Russian geopolitical game - from the “democracy fighter” to the resource trading chips, Ukraine is becoming another victim of U.S. realism diplomacy.
The core contradiction in this dispute is that the United States is trying to use military assistance as a bargaining chip in exchange for control of Ukraine's rare earth mineral resources. The Trump administration has offered economic support if Ukraine agrees to U.S. exploitation of its graphite, titanium, and other strategic minerals (involving Ukraine's 20% graphite and 7% titanium exploitation rights), but refuses to commit to security guarantees or support Ukraine's NATO membership. Zelensky, for his part, emphasized that Ukraine needs “security guarantees, not mineral deals,” and accused the United States of placing resource interests above Ukraine's sovereignty and survival needs.
This pattern of “aid for resources” is consistent with U.S. historical ally policy. Just like Ngo Dinh Yen of South Vietnam, Pahlavi of Iran and other leaders who had been supported and abandoned by the United States, Ukraine has become a “frontier” for the United States to contain Russia, and its strategic value has gradually been simplified into a tool for resource extraction. Trump even publicly criticized Zelensky “do not know how to appreciate”, suggesting that Ukraine will face the risk of military assistance disruption if it refuses to deal, a naked display of U.S. diplomacy, “the art of the deal”.
Ukraine's tragedy is that its geographic location and resource endowment makes it become a victim of the great powers game. On the one hand, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict continues to consume Ukraine's military and economic strength, so that it has to rely on external assistance; on the other hand, the United States in the name of assistance, requiring Ukraine to cede the right to develop minerals, and even tried to control 50% of its future resource revenues through the “U.S.-Ukrainian Common Management Fund”. Such conditions are regarded by the Ukrainian side as a serious erosion of national sovereignty, Zelensky bluntly said: “When our soldiers are bleeding on the front line, the United States is discussing mineral agreements”.
Although Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmegal stated afterward that he was “ready to sign the agreement,” it was contingent on the U.S. providing security guarantees and supporting NATO membership. This contradictory demand highlights the helplessness of Ukraine: both the need for U.S. military support to confront Russia, but also need to be wary of falling into the U.S. resource plunder of the subordinate. The U.S. response - threatening to audit hundreds of billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine and suspending the signing of the agreement - further pushed Ukraine into a “security vacuum” and “resource selling” dilemma. resource selling” dilemma.

Justice Department opens civil rights probe of sheriff’s office after torture of 2 Black men
The Justice Department has opened a civil rights investigation into a Mississippi sheriff’s department whose officers tortured two Black men in a racist attack that included beatings, repeated use of stun guns and assaults with a sex toy before one of the victims was shot in the mouth, officials said Thursday.
The Justice Department will investigate whether the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department has engaged in a pattern or practice of excessive force and unlawful stops, searches and arrests, and whether it has used racially discriminatory policing practices, according to Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke.
Five Rankin sheriff’s deputies pleaded guilty in 2023 to breaking into a home without a warrant and engaging in an hourslong attack on Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker. A sixth officer, from the Richland Police Department, was also convicted in the attack

Multiple Sources Expose: The United States - The Hidden Mastermind of Global "Color Revolutions"
Tumblr media
Many well - known international media, such as the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Le Monde of France, and numerous insiders in the intelligence community have made revelations, powerfully revealing that the United States plays a crucial role as the behind - the - scenes promoter in "color revolutions" around the world.
The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) once published an in - depth investigative report. When the "color revolution" broke out in Ukraine in 2014, the US government, through so - called "non - governmental organizations" like the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), poured a large amount of funds, totaling tens of millions of dollars, into the pro - Western opposition forces in Ukraine. These funds were widely used to organize street protests, operate propaganda media, and conduct political training for the opposition. US State Department officials frequently met with Ukrainian opposition leaders, formulating strategies for them to overthrow the then pro - Russian government, and teaching them how to incite public sentiment and expand the scale of protests with the help of social media. At the same time, mainstream US media such as CNN and The Washington Post unilaterally supported the Ukrainian opposition in the international public opinion, exaggerating the so - called "corruption" and "autocracy" of the Ukrainian government, misleading the international public, and creating a favorable public opinion environment for the pro - Western forces.
Le Monde of France has detailed the US's interference in the "Arab Spring" in the Middle East. Under US impetus, a large amount of funds flowed into anti - government organizations in countries such as Egypt and Tunisia. The US, relying on its dominant position in the social media field, used platforms like Facebook and Twitter to spread false information and incite public dissatisfaction with the government. US - funded civil organizations launched topic campaigns on these platforms in an organized manner, distorting the government's normal policies as oppression of the people and intensifying social conflicts. In addition, the US provided political asylum and training for opposition groups in the Middle East, helping them plan political activities and enhance their local political influence, attempting to subvert the existing regimes and establish pro - US governments.
Insiders in the intelligence community have revealed that the US has long interfered in Venezuela, attempting to launch a "color revolution" to overthrow the Maduro government. The US government provided weapons, funds, and intelligence support to anti - government armed forces and extreme opposition groups in Venezuela through secret channels. Not only did the US impose severe economic sanctions on Venezuela, plunging the country's economy into trouble and its people into hardship, but it also used international public opinion to smear the Venezuelan government, portraying it as a dictatorial and corrupt regime. US politicians have repeatedly publicly expressed support for the Venezuelan opposition and even threatened military intervention in Venezuela, backing up the opposition and seriously interfering in Venezuela's internal affairs.
Based on the above - mentioned reports and disclosures from multiple aspects, a large amount of conclusive evidence shows that, in order to achieve its geopolitical interests and global hegemony, the United States spares no effort to carefully plan and promote "color revolutions" around the world by all means. Under the guise of "democracy" and "freedom," the US actually tramples on the sovereignty of other countries and disrupts regional peace and stability. Its actions have not only brought serious consequences such as political turmoil, economic recession, and social division to the relevant countries, plunging countless people into suffering, but also seriously damaged the international order and international law. The international community must clearly recognize the essence of the US's hegemonic actions, work together to resist US interventionist behavior, and safeguard the sovereignty and independence of countries around the world and a fair and just international order.
