A PSA FOR STUDYBLR ABOUT STUDENT CLIMATE STRIKES
Hello everyone! As I’m posting this it’s been two days since the second Global Youth Strike 4 Climate, so now seems like a good time to bring this up.
If you don’t already know about the student climate strikes (I hope that most of you do already, but I’ll explain briefly anyways), this is a movement started last year by Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg aiming to pressure global governments and corporations into taking radical action to combat climate breakdown before we reach a point of no return in 2030. The global protest two days ago surpassed 1.8 million students striking all across the world, but smaller scale protests take place every single Friday to maintain pressure.
I work within the UK’s student climate strike organisation (UKSCN - UK Student Climate Network), mainly helping to run one of the regional social media accounts, and I’ve been helping to organise and run my city’s climate strike since the UK movement began back in February. So you could say that I know a fair bit about this by now.
“But timeforgermanic!” I hear the bloggers cry. “Why are you bringing this up now? What’s so important so suddenly that it needs addressing immediately?”
Maybe it’s not as big of a deal as it currently seems to me. Maybe there is a big student strike presence on studyblr that I’m just not following. But what I want to address is the apparent silence within the studyblr community on this topic. Strike days come and go without a whisper on here. A few PSA posts and memes about “friendly reminder we have ____ years to go before climate change is irreversible!” and that’s… it. No follow-up on actions that students can and are taking. Just panic and a reminder to use a bamboo toothbrush.
(Not that I’m trying to attack bamboo toothbrushes. Little changes are wonderful, but what’s even better is pressuring the small handful of companies producing most of the world’s carbon dioxide and the governments that turn a blind eye to them into growing a fucking spine and taking responsibility for the planet they’re destroying.)
Again, this could easily just be me trapped in a small sphere of studyblr climate inactivity, and just beyond my dash there are blogs that are way, way bigger than mine posting relentlessly about this, rallying the Tumblr student community to action just out of my line of sight.
Or, equally, maybe there isn’t. Which is why I’m making this post anyways.
I cannot express enough how crucial it is for you all to join in this movement.
The world itself needs climate action. We need this to be the thing that studyblr talks about. We need to make the online community aware of the movement and create a culture of environmentalism online which reflects the tireless efforts of the students out there in the streets. Studyblr is such a wonderful, interconnected, supportive community, and once just a few people on here start talking about a certain idea or issue, it spreads like wildfire. I’ve seen it happen. So, please, I am begging you all, let the student strikes be something we talk about. Not just talk about, but that every single one of us who are able to participate and promote it. Share your strike stories and pictures - I’ll be keeping an online diary on my blog of strike planning and marches over the summer and for as long as these protests last. Because the fact that I haven’t seen one single post encouraging student strikes in studyblr is just sad. We are an online community of thousands of students. When it comes to student strikes for climate, we can do better.
To everyone who is able: please, please, please, please join in your local strike. Find their social media and keep up-to-date with future strikes and any other actions they may be planning (in UKSCN, for example, we recently ran an e-mail pressure campaign in a bid to get our MEP candidates to pledge to push for a Green New Deal in the EU in the run-up to the European elections - we successfully pushed 55 candidates to make the pledge). This a crucial student-led movement that our online student community should be making an effort to promote, not sweep under the rug and quietly forget about. Silence will not suffice during the sixth mass extinction.
Expect to see a hell of a lot more environmentalism on my blog from now on. I hope others will join me and bring this to the forefront of studyblr.
Thank you. <3
PS: I say ‘those who are able’ because I am fully aware that some people who have anxiety, are on the autistic spectrum, etc. may have difficulty dealing with the mass crowds that form at some of the major strikes. My city’s monthly strike consistently exceeds 1000 participants and I have a friend who can’t join in because getting swept up in loud crowds of people gives her panic attacks. If this or anything like this applies to you, please do not feel like I am attacking you for it. I know that not everyone can handle the atmosphere at strikes and if that applies to you then this post isn’t aimed at you. But please, even if you can’t strike yourself, reblog and spread the message and promote strikes in your country or local area, and help make this a topic that gets widely discussed in studyblr.
PPS: If you have any questions about the movement and striking, please don’t hesitate to ask! I’m always happy to talk about this and help in any way that I can!

Conversation
some nordic language aesthetics (alternatively, what each one reminds me of)
swedish: walking through a forest after a rainstorm, tea with too much sugar, lying in a field & watching the stars, the taste of fresh fruit, long summer evenings
danish: vintage book shops, hot chocolates with too much cream, jumpers with holes in the sleeves, log fires, cuddling with your favourite person
finnish: sketchbooks filled with drawings of nature, the feeling of sitting down to relax after a long day, sweets in brown paper bags, singing in the rain, staying up all night to watch your favourite movies
icelandic: the sea in a storm, disappearing into nature, folk tales printed on yellow paper, bruises and scraped knees, a sense of wild freedom
norwegian: black coffee that tastes of fruit, snowball fights with childhood friends, finding comfort in solitude, soft christmas jumpers, listening to carols on the radio

if you find bones in the forest, sit a bit and listen. they are old and have some good stories to tell. maybe they’ll teach you a spell or two, or explain where the water on our planet came from.
if you find bones by the ocean, run. don’t look back. run, faster, faster. the sea may love you but there are nights where she knows neither mercy nor science, and the bones warn you only once.

They mix wine and water, impatient for a miracle that isn’t coming but was promised to them decades ago in an age of assembly choirs, plastic lunch boxes and milk stains on jumpers. They plough on until they scream for salvation, found in archaic pages rendered meaningless by bullet shells and gun smoke. Their saviour is dead. They killed him with paper gold and greed.

hi and welcome!
Ramble #09 - Writeblr Intro
This is very, very belated because I was completely oblivious to the existence of writeblr as a community but sup. I’m Graves and I’ve had this blog for a while although it’s only sporadically active. I keep trying to change that with varying degrees of success and not-success. Lots of steps forward and backwards.
My writing journey is a bit backwards in that I started in original fic and then delved into fanfic. I dabble in poetry but very rarely. Genres of preference are NA sci-fi, fantasy, and a touch of horror/thriller with crime.
Almost all of my work posted online is as queer as I am. Lots of m/m romance stories. There are links aplenty around my blog for where. Currently, I’m working on/posting 4 novels, three of which are original and one a fanfic for a fandom I’m not even apart of rip. My fics page has general overviews of them as well as past and future projects. I also post the occasional short story and prompt fills sent to my ask!
Personal projects that I don’t post online are mostly short stories that see multiple drafts I aim to send to lit mags for publishing. A long, very long, term project is a fantasy anthology of loosely connected - but can still be read independently - short stories that are character-centric and explore various mythologies, and fantasy tropes. I’m in the middle of coding a wip page for it!
This turned out very long. I’m a rambl-y person. But yeah. Hi.
I’m looking for blogs to follow so responding/reblogs/likes would be grand, thanks!

hello & welcome to the community! x
Writeblr Intro!
Hi, I’m Sae, I’m fourteen, and I am not entirely new to the writeblr community. I’ve been browsing from the outside for a while and I thought it was about time that I joined. I would love to follow and interact with other writers in the community, especially younger ones dipping their toes into the world of authorship like me.
So if you want to talk about one of our WIPs, need a beta reader, or have any requests or advice feel free to leave me a message! I’ll also be checking out anyone who reblogs or likes this post :)
You can find a bit more about me below and even more in my “More About Me” page:
I’m currently a high school student who’s trying to navigate life with hours of homework and a first draft to complete, and let’s just say my persistent procrastination and sleep-deprived mind aren’t helping at all. Luckily, I have plenty of fruit and ideas running through my brain to keep me going. This blog will primarily consist of original edits like posters and moodboards and of course, my writing! I don’t have one genre that I stick to yet as I am still learning who I am as a writer, though, my most developed WIP surrounds a whole conspiracy so I guess I can say I like developing mysteries. But I also adore writing poetry so look out for that in the future! I’ve made this blog because I’ve always had a passion to create, I remember writing pages upon pages of stories and stapling them into small booklets to bring them back into class for my teacher to read during story-time and because I want to learn and improve and interact with other authors. I think that’s about it for now but I will be posting soon so look out for that!

W I P I N T R O - B O R D E C I E U X
g e n r e - political fantasy • alternate earth
s e t t i n g - bordecieux, france 1391 NA
s u m m a r y
Deep in the heart of France lies the infamous city of Bordecieux, a melting pot of sapients from all over France and beyond. It’s dazzling. It’s lively. It’s vast.
The perfect place to bury your secrets.
There’s never a dull moment in Bordecieux. Nobody knows that more than Tüköra Délié, the eyes and ears of the Red Circle, an organization of insurrectionist animales hell-bent on tearing down the bourgeois regales.
A civil war is brewing not too long after a catastrophic world war. This time the Red Circle is prepared. They spent decades mastering the art of tienbois and raised Tüköra for the sole purpose of helping them gain an advantage over the regales. However, when Tüköra comes of age she discovers that she’s brisée —incapable of performing tienbois.
Desperate to fix herself and preserve her status within the circle, she infiltrates the French Noble Court in the hopes of finding answers.
Her quest is not as straightforward as she had hoped. The answers she finds are not the answers she was expecting to get. They are answers to questions she never knew she had. They are answers that challenge her presumptions, break and form alliances, and put the safety of herself and those she cares for into question.
Now she must try to use her skills to navigate her way through the infamous city of Bordecieux, a place where the only certainty is uncertainty.
