The Architectural Marvel of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library

Symbolic of the intellectual enrichment and cultural preservation of the region, the Mohammed bin Rashid Library is situated on the peaceful beaches of Dubai Creek. The structure is a true architectural wonder, fashioned after the Quranic book rest known as a rehl. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum library constructed with the goal of advancing literacy and Arabic literature, protecting Arabic cultural heritage, and assisting budding authors. Access to a vast array of books, digital media, and knowledge resources spread across ten specialist collections is free for all visitors.

This library's main objective is to preserve Arabic literature, culture, and legacy. To be able to share more knowledge with the community, they are always updating the library's collections, programs, event calendars, and resources.

استكشف مكتبة محمد بن راشد: المعلم الثقافي الجديد في دبي

From Desert to Knowledge: The Story of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library

During Dubai's "Year of Reading" in February 2016, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum revealed the idea for the library. The seven-story library, shaped like an open book on a lectern, will occupy 650,000 square feet of land and welcome 9 million people a year. More than 4.5 million physical, digital, and audio books will be kept in the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library building contract, worth AED 1 billion, is the biggest cultural project in Dubai.  Work is scheduled to start in September 2016 and be finished by the middle of 2018. The library's construction was 22% finished as of December 2017. It was 72% finished in 2018.

In 2019, the library was still under construction even though it was scheduled to open in 2018. The exterior was finished, the main structure was topped out, and the interior was nearing completion as of February 2020. On June 16, 2022, the library opened to the public. On June 23, 2022, it played home to a meeting of the Dubai Executive Council.

مكتبة محمد بن راشد: منارة المعرفة في دبي

في 16 يونيو 2022، سُمح للجمهور بالدخول إلى مكتبة محمد بن راشد الفسيحة الواقعة على خور دبي في حي الجداف في دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة.

كان شكل المنصة بمثابة مصدر إلهام لتصميم المكتبة. تشتمل المرافق الرئيسية للمكتبة على قاعة مؤتمرات ومساحات للمعارض وقسم للأطفال ومكتبة في الطابق الأرضي وقاعات للقراءة وأقسام للخدمات وقسم للأعمال وقاعات للتدريب. يتسع الطابق السفلي للمكتبة لحوالي ألف سيارة.

بلغت تكلفة المشروع مليار درهم إماراتي واستغرق إنجازه أكثر من 6 سنوات. سيكون هناك ما بين 300,000 و400,000 مجلد في مكون الوصول المفتوح للمكتبة. وستتوفر في المكتبة أنظمة المعلومات والتعامل مع الكتب. تم إنشاء المكتبة من قبل اتحاد يضم شركة أوبرماير بلانين+بيراتن ميونيخ و”asp“ أركيتيكتن شتوتغارت وشركة ACG للاستشارات المعمارية. وقد أسندت شركة ”إيه سي جي للاستشارات المعمارية“ إلى شركة ”إس. وكانت شركة ASGC للإنشاءات، وهي شركة إنشاءات مقرها دبي، المقاول الرئيسي للمشروع.
