This was my first time seeing a columbine flower. They look something aliens would cultivate.
Aquilegia is a genus of about 60-70 species of perennial plants that are found in meadows, woodlands, and at higher altitudes throughout the Northern Hemisphere, known for the spurred petals of their flowers.

The eastern rosella (Platycercus eximius) is a rosella native to southeast of the Australian continent and to Tasmania. It has been introduced to New Zealand where feral populations are found in the North Island and in the hills around Dunedin in the South Island.

China is very lucky to have such a colorful bird roaming around in the wild.
The golden pheasant (Chrysolophus pictus) or Chinese pheasant is a gamebird of the order Galliformes and the family Phasianidae. The genus name is from Ancient Greek khrusolophos, “with golden crest”, and pictus is Latin for “painted” from pingere, “to paint”.

I just arrived back from a trip to Niagara Falls. I have never seen so many seagulls in my life (and I’m from Florida…) There, however, were none on the Canadian side so they either forgot their passports or something more sinister was afoot. I have my eye on you seagull-hating Canadians.
