THE AIR WAS heavy, thick with the kind of oppressive tension that came from standing in the presence of something—or someone—infinitely more powerful than yourself.

Yet, despite the suffocating aura, you found it oddly amusing.

Before you stood 1x1x1x1, his black-and-green-flamed body radiating malice and dread.

The translucent green in her chest exposed the skeletal torso within, a chilling sight for most.

Not for you, though.

You leaned against a jagged rock, a playful smirk tugging at your lips as you toyed with a pebble in your hand.

"Nice weather we’re having, huh?" you quipped, tossing the pebble into the air and catching it again.

Her crimson eyes narrowed, their glow intensifying. The green domino crown on his head tilted slightly as they turned to face you fully.

The chains that adorned his body rattled faintly as she shifted.

"You never shut up, do you?" he growled, their voice low and gravelly, with an edge that could cut through steel.

"Not really," you replied with a shrug. "I mean, someone’s gotta keep things interesting. And you’re not exactly Mx. Personality."

His grip on the twin daemonshanks tightened, the black and green flames licking up their blades growing more erratic.

She looked like he was barely holding himself back, and you couldn’t resist poking the metaphorical bear—or in this case, the literal embodiment of negativity.

"Seriously though, what’s with the chains?" you continued, tilting your head to the side. "Fashion statement? Or are you just into the whole ‘edgy antihero’ vibe?"

"Careful," they warned, his voice a low rumble that sent a shiver down your spine.

"Or what?" you challenged, stepping closer. "You’ll scowl at me? Maybe summon a few undead minions to glare at me too?"

A soft growl escaped her as he took a menacing step forward, the flames around him flaring brighter. You stood your ground, meeting their glare with a mischievous twinkle in your eyes.

"For someone who’s supposed to embody pure malice, you’re kind of a softie, aren’t you?" you teased, tapping your chin mockingly. "Maybe all you need is a hug. Or therapy. Definitely therapy."

His skeletal chest seemed to heave with what might have been a sigh—or perhaps an attempt to contain her growing frustration.

"You are insufferable," he muttered, their crimson gaze boring into you.

"And you’re predictable," you shot back, grinning. "I bet you’re going to say something about how I’ll regret this, or maybe throw in a dramatic speech about darkness and despair. Go on, prove me right."

The silence that followed was almost deafening.

His grip on the daemonshanks loosened, and they clattered to the ground as she crossed the distance between you in a single, fluid motion.

Before you could react, their hands gripped your face, and his lips crashed against yours.

The kiss was fierce, demanding, and utterly unexpected.

His fiery aura enveloped you, warmth and danger intertwining in a way that made your heart skip a beat.

Your mind went blank for a moment, the playful retorts dying on your tongue as you processed what was happening.

The flames around her didn’t burn, but they licked at your skin, leaving a tingling sensation in their wake.

When they finally pulled back, his crimson eyes bored into yours, her hands still firmly on your face.

"Better," he muttered, his voice low and hoarse.

For once, you were silent, staring up at her with wide eyes and a slightly dazed expression.

"Say something now, and I’ll—"

"You’ll what?" you interrupted, your voice soft but teasing. "Kiss me again?"

The faintest flicker of something—surprise?Amusement?—crossed her face before his usual scowl returned.

"Maybe," they said simply, releasing you and turning away.

The chains on his body clinked as he retrieved her swords, the flames reigniting with renewed intensity.

You watched him go, a smirk slowly returning to your lips.

"Guess I’m not as insufferable as you thought," you called after him, your voice light and playful.

He didn’t respond, but the way her flames flared slightly brighter was answer enough.

And as you leaned back against the rock, you couldn’t help but feel a sense of victory.

For someone who claimed to hate being bothered, 1x1x1x1 sure didn’t seem eager to leave you alone.
