Monday Morning Thoughts:

Scream VI was fun, stays true to the rules of the franchise while also breaking the mold and establishing it’s own rules

SNL is good. It’s always good. It doesn’t get the credit it deserves for it’s longevity and power to stay relevant. The writing team of “Please Don’t Destroy” continues to be the highlight each week.

RuPaul’s Drag Race sent home Marcia Marcia Marcia. Presented as the consistent underdog, she actually held her own for her lip sync against possibly the best this season. Her final words, “Forget my nose, ow, my heart.” moved me.

Everything Everywhere All At Once cleaned up at the Oscars and completely earned it. A well-earned win for a film that transcends genres.

For it’s entire existence, the MLS has been considered a joke by “real futbol” fans. Whether it’s the fact that none of the best players from the United States want to stay and play in the MLS or the fact that the big names only come to retire in the MLS, the public perception is that the MLS is the “minor league” of the world soccer stage.

Apple securing exclusivity is exciting for Apple TV fans and MLS fans, but how wide is the overlap in that venn diagram? Will Apple’s move make sense and, more importantly, make cents? Will it open up a new audience to the sport (more specifically, the MLS?)

Admittedly, I've been a lifelong #google fan. I recently found out that #YouTube has emerged as the leader(?) in podcast streaming. That just seems wild to me considering my close family group uses #pocketcasts and almost everyone else I know uses #applepodcast or some of the few I know who are "newer" to the podcast worlds #spotify because they already have that relationship with them. I know one lone dissenter who uses Google Podcasts, but I digress.

I, for my own personal reasons, am a YouTube premium subscriber and typically enjoy the benefits that come with in. (If you are going to show me a YT video and an ad starts, just know that I've already tuned out.) The frustration I feel for YouTube's inconsistency from video to video is overwhelming.

The LISTENING CONTROLS (Pic 1) on the video are a fantastic feature. Being able to skip 15 seconds forward or back is a necessity for podcasts. The only problem is that sometimes it shows up easily accessible on the on-screen video controls (Pic 4) and sometimes it doesn't (Pic 5). Also, if you're not going to have those skip options on the lockscreen controls, it almost doesn't matter (Pic 2 is from Pocket Casts, Pic 3 is from YouTube.) There also doesn't seem to be a way to create a "podcast feed" for all the shows you listen to, they just kinda put different episodes on the "podcasts" tab on the home page.

Listening to podcasts on YouTube is cool, but it needs to be better.

The best way to stream media is the Google Chromecast and I will die on this hill.
