it’s like this.
if you only have one person in your life that you trust, you probably are always going to turn to that person when something shit happens. as well as whenever something good happens. or anything else. this is not inherently a bad thing, and it’s really beautiful to have someone in your life that you trust so much
but if that person is suddenly busy or going through something difficult themselves or doesn’t have emotional capacity for a while, suddenly there’s a problem. not necessarily through any fault of your own, you don’t have anyone to turn to with as much regularity as you did before
this is true of any kind of relationship. this is true of any kind of coping mechanism, also. the problem is not that you trust that person. the problem is not that you use that coping mechanism. the problem is not even that there’s something wrong with you and that it’s all your fault. the problem is that nothing can be everything
the solution is not to cut off your one trusted person or to cut yourself off from your one trusted coping mechanism. the solution is to do the difficult work of diversifying your life as much as it’s possible for you to do. which is why it sucks so much when external factors prevent you from being able to live a truly diverse life. okay that’s all have a good one

You know what I'm gonna COMPLAIN!
Vanilla sex isn't "wholesome sex"! Sex is not more pure just because it's done within the framework of a monogamous relationship and free from elements of kink!
"Person is so pure they probably don't even know what sex is." Purity isn't defined by the distance from sex! As if the more a person encounters sex in any context the less pure their soul becomes!
You🫵are not immune to propagating the beliefs and ideas of purity culture!

the human mind is prone to catastrophizing when left unoccupied. And that’s why it’s important to always have a little Blorbo to rotate in your head. It acts as a protective charm of sorts to redirect your imagination away from harmful spirals
thoughts without Blorbo: oh my god I was so cringe in seventh grade why did I do that
thoughts with Blorbo: I haven’t considered the interactions with bleebus; I must rectify this immediately

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

idk thinking about how sometimes you have to show up for people you aren't that close to, because sometimes you're just the person who's there. sometimes you invite a new friend to a party and end up having to sit with them through a panic attack. sometimes you run into an acquaintance on their worst day and they need to talk about what happened. sometimes someone is crying in a stairwell and you're the only one around to ask if they're okay. and none of this is "trauma dumping" or whatever the fuck it's just being there for people because you're the one in the room with them.

I am begging you guys to get your news from somewhere other than social media. Of course social media can be valuable, but it is NOT a replacement for actual news outlets that have reporters, researchers, fact checkers, experts to interview, and years of background.
Do not learn everything you know about Iran from tumblr or Instagram or tiktok. Information is important and accuracy even more so. No one is immune to misinformation and propaganda (from MANY angles) and we have to do better.

don’t abandon joy because it is brief. don’t commit to solitude because happiness is fleeting. it’s okay that good things do not last forever. it’s okay to simply enjoy a thing for as long as you have it.

Half the time "women in trades" stuff is like "GIRL POWER!!!! You can wear PINK and MAKEUP and listen to POP MUSIC all you want!! Let's all be GIRLY on the jobsite and make fun of all those icky MEN who HATE pink lol!!!"
And half the time "women in trades" stuff is like "Listen up GIRLS here's the HARSH TRUTH but this is a TOUGH JOB you need to PULL YOUR WEIGHT which we all know most women can't do so don't prance around with your sparkly nails and expect the MEN to pick up your SLACK because you'll make the rest of us LOOK BAD"
And I'm over here like what if the problem that women face on the jobsite isn't the extent to which they are or aren't validated in their femininity or lack thereof but rather the extremely widespread misogyny that prevents women from having the same job and advancement opportunities that men have and the harassment and assault that drives women out of the workforce in huge numbers. What if we talked about that instead of whether it's feminist or antifeminist to have pink tools

part of what i like about "queer" as a label is that it is inherently hostile to definition. this part of myself is alien and unknowable to outsiders and I like it that way. no boxes for you to check and guess like you're playing cluedo. just queer.

once you remember that you are not in fact catholic and do not actually have to confess your sins all the time things will get better for you. kill the part of you that wants to go into some strangers inbox and tell them why you don’t listen to rap.
