◇Gray Skin◇

(I apologize in advance if something is not understood, English is not my native language, I translated it as best I could.)

I suffer from a strange and little-known condition, my gray skin. This was due to a deep depression I've had since high school. This condition is treatable and can be removed, according to psychologists, but the longer I've been with it, the harder it is to remove, almost like a tumor. It could have gone away completely when I was in a truly happy place in my life... enough to be removed.

I've been through a lot to get to this point. The friend I spent time with for years eventually started to push me aside to hang out with other people and only sought me out when she wanted something from me. I was very stressed out because of the problems I was having with my father. At school, people looked at me with judgment for being so quiet and not having anything in common with them... I've tried to take my own life because I've been through so much, but my condition prevented me from doing so; I was unable to hurt myself; I could only feel the emotional pain.

I'm currently 21 years old. I manage my emotions and treat others better. I have a job, but my gray skin is still with me.

Or at least that's how it was until I met someone very special... or rather, two very special people.

On a tiring day at work, I was walking when it suddenly started to rain. I thought, "It can't get any worse." I went into the nearest place I could find to take shelter from the rain: a flower shop. Upon entering, I was greeted by a boy with blond, curly hair, sky-blue eyes, and a kind expression. I thought, "What a nice guy."

I talked to him for a bit; he was very kind and suggested a plant that wouldn't be difficult to care for. He seemed happy talking about plants. I wasn't sure if it was part of his job to pretend or if he actually liked it.

At times, I felt like he was looking at me; maybe it was just my imagination, or maybe it was because of my strange skin tone. After all, my condition wasn't widely known.

But in the end, he didn't seem to judge me; instead, he was calling me out.

At the end of our conversation, I mustered up some courage and asked for his number. He didn't seem too happy with my offer and turned me down. I was thinking, "I guess I'm not his type, or he was just nice because of his job and wasn't interested in me," but it was understandable. So I just paid for the floor and walked out the way I came, feeling like something was watching me.
