MY FAMILY DRAFTED KPOP GROUPS

So my mom, my sister, and I did a fantasy draft for kpop male idols, and let me tell you my group is fucking STACKED.  My sister went for the tall beautiful group, while my mom’s group is kind of just a hodgepodge of whatever idols she could think of.  We considered all idols as they are IN THEIR PRIME (including former idols) LMK which you stan #talent #height or #hodgepodge

THINGS ASIAN AMERICANS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO HEAR

WHEN YOU GROW UP AS THE ONLY ASIAN AMERICAN IN MIDDLE-OF-NOWHERE WISCONSIN, THERE ARE SOME THINGS YOU HEAR THAT YOU WISH YOU DIDN'T

"You're pretty for an Asian..." Or really any positive adjective. So I'm pretty...for an Asian, but next to a white person I'm a pile of shit? Thanks!

"Don't worry you're not even that Asian." I am clearly Asian. Look at my face. I know that I am Asian and, despite what you think, I wasn't worried about it.

"You're like the whitest Asian I know." Okay, this is pretty much the most fucked up idea of a compliment I've received..

"You only got into college because you're Asian..." You clearly do not understand how college admissions work...also it's okay to disregard all of my hard work and accomplishments because I'm Asian?

"You're like the only Asian I'd date..." Worst. Pickup. Line. Ever. But also you're telling me you wouldn't date Jun Ji Hyun? I'm gonna have to call bullshit on that.

"Are you related to Kim Jung Il?" "Don't bomb us!" "Do you eat dog?" "Can you see?" etc. etc. etc.  Just a real ~fun~ array of SHIT I DON'T LIKE

If any of you have Asian friends and have been caught saying any of the above (or any variation), please think about what you're really saying.  After you think about what you're about to say, just don't say it. It was growing up hearing all of this, and the piss poor representation of Asians in the media, that made me hate my Asian identity.  As I grew up and escaped my abysmally white town, I learned to embrace my Asian-American identity and love my culture. We need to cultivate a world where people are not afraid to embrace every single part of their identity and really ~work~ it with pride. RANT OVER. <3
