As a Swede, it’s such a bizarre debate I see people have. It makes workdays easier for everyone, not just low income families, and makes schooling easier. Why wouldn’t you want children get their education?!
listen it's especially important to me because i WAS a kid on the free lunch program growing up, but it's actually UNBELIEVABLE to me that there is ANYONE who isn't in favor of "kids get to eat at school no matter their household income"
i know i'm speaking to a panel of like-minded individuals here on the blue hellsite when it comes to this, but i just?? i truly don't fucking Get It???
it's just wild to me that there are actually people who AREN'T on the side of, "yeah, i want all children to have access to food at school if they need it"
like? being on the opposite side?? is straight supervillain shit??
GOD FORBID i spend $14.70 a month in taxes to make sure a child has at least one reliable meal a day (preferably two--shout out school breakfast program, those french toast sticks always fucked severely) even if that isn't the case at home
"but what if their parents can pay for it and just aren't?" then they're bad parents and that child still deserves to eat??? hello??

It is deeply, deeply beneficial to TERFs if the only characteristic of TERF ideology you will recognize as wrong, harmful, or problematic is "they hate trans women".
TERF ideology is an expansive network of extremely toxic ideas, and the more of them we accept and normalize, the easier it becomes for them to fly under the radar and recruit new TERFs. The closer they get to turning the tide against all trans people, trans women included.
Case in point: In 2014-2015, I fell headlong into radical feminism. I did not know it was called radical feminism at the time, but I also didn't know what was wrong with radical feminism in the first place. I didn't see a problem with it.
I was a year deep into this shit when people I had been following, listening to, and looking up to finally said they didn't think trans women were women. It was only then that I unfollowed those people, specifically; but I continued to follow other TERFs-who-didn't-say-they-were-TERFs. I continued ingesting and spreading their ideas- for years after.
If TERFs "only target trans women" and "only want trans women gone", if that's the one and only problem with their ideology and if that's the only way we'll define them, we will inevitably miss a vast majority of the quiet beliefs that support their much louder hatred of trans women.
As another example: the trans community stood relatively united when TERFs and conservatives targeted our right to use the correct restroom, citing the "dangers" of trans women sharing space with cis women. But when they began targeting Lost Little Girls and Confused Lesbians and trotting detransitioners out to raise a panic about trans men, virtually the only people speaking up about it were other transmascs. Now we see a rash of anti-trans healthcare bills being passed in the US, and they're hurting every single one of us.
When you refuse to call a TERF a TERF just because they didn't specifically say they hate trans women, when you refuse to think critically about a TERF belief just because it's not directly related to trans women, you are actively helping TERFs spread their influence and build credibility.

THANK YOU! For putting it into words! That stuff has bugged me whenever I’ve been enjoying fanart.
Like, you don’t have to act morally superior, there’s no morality contest!
Would you go up to the Mona Lisa and loudly proclaim that you prefer the Girl with a Pearl Earring too? Just watch the pearl earring girl then, and keep your backhanded comments to yourself…
Can we like.. normalize skipping contents that we hate or contents that don't align with our opinion? I've seen the most beautiful ship arts in almost every social media platform and there would always be like
"Love the art! Hate the ship!"
Look, I know social media peeps do their best to stay positive but is it really that important to accompany your compliment with a COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY statement? Can people normalize keeping their opinions to themselves when it's not needed? Girl that is obviously a ship post. Why do you feel the need to say you hate it after complimenting?
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the compliment but I'd rather have you not comment on my post at all if you're just gonna leave backhanded compliments. Is it really that hard to JUST say "I love the art!" and be respectful? And if you hate the ship so much then do yourself a favour by scrolling up or down to avoid the content. Trust me, avoiding negativity would be better for your mental health.
It's not just happening in ship arts. Fanarts in general. There'd be like, a fanart of a character or a redesign and there will be comments like "I prefer them with this-that though." or "This-that suits them better!" or "I don't like them with this-that!".
Or there would be contents that talks about how this character is the best character of this show/game/movie or how this character has the best game effects and there would be like, "I prefer this-that character though." or "I don't see anything about *charactername though." or "Nope, *charactername is the best."
An example of this is when I was scrolling through contents about Furina's c6 plunge attack and infusions and how they are the best and there are a bunch of comments saying "I don't see Raiden though" or "Raiden's plunge is the best"
And I was like NO ONE ASKED??? Look, no hate to Raiden Shogun because she's literally one of my favorite characters. I love her plunge attack and I have an undeniable bias when it comes to purple and pink but the video was OBVIOUSLY NOT ABOUT HER. The video was not a misinformation and simply someone's opinion/preference.
It's like going to a room full of people talking about how they like the color red and saying something like "I prefer blue though!" Gosh why would you do that? It's just so EMBARRASSING and SO ATTENTION SEEKING at it's finest. And then when people call them out, they'd pull the "opinion" card and act like s victim. If you want people to respect your opinion, why don't you do it first?
People need to learn that not everything that appears on their feed is about them and to not take everything PERSONALLY because not everything is about you and not everything revolves around you. People can have different opinions and enjoy any content that they want even if those are opposed to your preferences. Being different from you doesn't make them less valid in any way.
If it's not illegal or harmful just keep your mouth shut, is it really that hard?
Instead of wasting your time commenting on a content that you don't like (and by doing so, the said content would just appear on your feed more frequently), why not search for contents you enjoy to satisfy yourself, yah?
Why? Because that's the normal thing to do. People have become so brave on whatever they say on the internet because they know they'd never suffer real life consequences.

Okay, I can see this fixing the incest problem, but with how romance tropes worked pre-modern era, Lancelot would’ve just fallen in love with Squirrel/Hazel instead of Guenevere. Guy Falling In Love With Idealized Woman Of Higher Status was a thing, and the woman’s feelings weren’t really relevant…
I’m watching The Sword in the Stone for the first time in decades and I’ve gotten to the part where Merlin is trying to get Arthur to lose his virginity to a squirrel.

some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

In a world of neurotypical, talking with a friend who also has AuDHD is like a spray of chill water on a burning summer day.
I haven’t seen her in months but we talk like we see each other every day.
No worries if my info dumping is annoying, she responds with her own equally excited info dumping!
We communicate on the same wavelength, like we can speak in our native language instead of having to translate our scripted dialogue into morse code like with everyone else around us!

My mom’s Samoyed actually had a social life she didn’t know about
Today a very friendly Golden Retriever came up to me and I said "hey buddy :D" and the owner asked "do you know each other?" like his dog had a social life he didn't know about
