「 . ✧ . * . ˚ 」 → mika wasn't a sore loser, at least, she liked to think that she wasn't but a night left win little to no wins for her and her companion was starting to make her a little bit nervous. it wasn't that she wanted something from the carnival per se but she was excited at the idea of having a friend to add to the plushies on her bed. of course, after their third carnival game came up short, she was starting to think that they'd never find a new member to her ever-growing family of friends.

she was happy, of course, when their luck finally changed. even though she'd seen it with her own eyes, she was in disbelief. she jumped out of her seat screaming in excitement as she clapped and pointed at where he'd finally won. "you did it! you did it!" she said cheering as she threw her hands in the air. as the gamerunner explained how he could win a bigger prize, she placed a hand over her mouth thinking to herself before she voiced her concerns out loud. "okay, well...i don't know- if you win a bigger prize that could be nice but if you don't then we wasted our only win of the day so far," she said as she leaned in whispering to him. "what do you think?"

running into mika had been a pleasant surprise to have someone familiar to check out the carnival with. however, soonwon could only imagine that it had quickly turned into quite a disappointing time for mika witnessing the tragedy of his playing skills. after all, he had lost at the simple ring toss, bean bag toss, and basketball hoops. coincidentally, all things that had to do with tossing. (as if there couldn’t be any clearer sign than tonight that soonwon wasn’t fit for something). embarrassingly enough, he had even managed to fail at the failed at the fishing booth where he somehow hooked the one dud fish they threw in as a joke.

so, with pockets a little emptier than the beginning of the evening, the last thing soonwon would have anticipated was winning his first round of carnival games that night at the horse racing stand. it comes as a complete surprise when the booth master suddenly shouts #9 as the winner - as in the horse he had been playing for won. it takes him a second before he processes being asked if he’d like to play again for a bigger prize.

starter for @dvpendable from here setting: fall carnival @ ansong central park

mika's pulled at the edges of her fairy wings as she neared the front of the ferris wheel line hearing the crunch of leaves underfoot. she enjoyed the feeling of the fall and she'd spent hours making her costume. it was unbelievable how much she'd poked herself with the needle while sewing the flowers onto the corset of her top. still, it had all been worth it for the myriad of compliments that she'd gotten for the night so far. she'd thought about a lot of different options for her costume. an angel, a hot police officer, even a firewomen but she'd settled on being the physical embodiment of jealousy after reading a book full of short stories where jealousy was their downfall. such a powerful emotion maybe only trumped by things like anger and love.

as she was ushered onto her cart of the ferris wheel, the attendant leaned in telling her that she needed another passenger. she was stuck for a moment seeing how everyone else who had been in the line had brought a partner with them except her. "um-" she hesitated looking around to see if anyone she knew was close enough to hop on the ferris wheel with her. it was then that she spotted danbi. "hey! hey, bi! do you want a free ride?" she shouted holding up the two tickets she would had the attendant for her friend.

mika settled in her seat. the adrenaline was pumping tonight. she knew a lot of random facts. it was one of the small things that she'd become grateful for in her time at ansong. she didn't know much about herself but she knew what film was considered the first slasher film despite not liking horror very much. this meant that she was a trivia ace and tonight she planned on flexing those skills. she was a solo player tonight not having found anyone who would deal with her incessant rattling on of fun facts. the first question: "what was the name of the with played by bette midler in hocus pocus?" her hand slammed down on the button to answer the question only to hear another buzzer go off at the same time. her eyes scanned the room as she tried to keep an eye out for the other person who had hit the button. oh! she knew them. "nari?" she said surprised to herself as the other girl answered the question. mika slinked her way across the room carefully to not interrupt the game. she sat next to nari tilting her head as she tapped her shoulder. "hey- i didn't know you liked hocus pocus. do you want to be partners?" usually mika was too shy to approach others but in this case, the question had been a barrier breaker for her.

✽ ✎… ( lee chaeryeong, cisfemale, she/her ) — we hope ansong has found you well, kang mika. you know yourself to be 22 years old and currently reside in unit #05 on floor #01. while you have been here for six months, you seem to remember a little about your former life. currently you’re employed at the book nook as a sales associate. you recall that some people consider you to be affectionate & knowledgeable, but sometimes you seem to be stubborn & opinionated. we hope you find everything you’re searching for, and maybe a little bit more. — ( blossom, 25+, gmt-6, triggers: realistic depictions of war )

stats

mika's favourite pastimes are reading and gaming so her favourite hangsouts are the book nook where she works, 8-bit, and ansong public library. she's a big lover of the library and she hangs out there a lot. if you can't find her, that's probably where she is.

she also frequents ansong farmers market and sweet bean cafe. she's a regular vendor at the farmer's market selling her crafts which she makes a lot of in her free time like friendship bracelets, crochet clothing and handmade cards.

mika is the type of person who's naturally cautious and cares a lot about her image. not to the detriment of her personal relationships but her fatal flaw is the fact that she thinks she's not very attractive or funny while others seem to think the opposite of her.

she can be found at the funeral home teaching crafting classes for free since she thinks that crafting is good for mental health.
