When Elisabeta opened her eyes, she had a pounding headache. She placed her arm over her eyes to diminish the sun's beams and groaned.
“Hey miss,” a masculine voice said. Elisabeta did not respond at first. “Miss?”
“Are you talking to me?” Elisabeta replied with a strained voice.
“Yes, are you alright?” Elisabeta stopped for a second and thought about the question.
“I have a pounding headache. Oh, wait, can you tell me where I am?”
“Did you go out drinking last night? I would drop whoever let a beautiful woman like you alone on the streets of Insomnia.”
“Huh…?”
“You’re clearly not okay, can you sit up?”
Elisabeta took a deep breath and removed her arm from over her eyes and moved both arms behind her and managed to sit up like the man asked.
“Okay good.” Elisabeta opened her eyes and looked at the man. Her eyes stung from the sudden light, but she got a good look at the man. He was young with black-gray hair that was pushed back; what stood out the most to her, however, was his piercing blue eyes.
The man cursed under his breath and then smiled at Elisabeta. “Do you need me to take you to where you live?”
“I-no-I-uh-don’t-”
“It’s okay, though I’ll be taking you to my friend instead. She can help you better than I can.”
“O-kay?”
“Can you stand up?” Elisabeta swallowed deeply and put all her weight onto her arms that kept her sitting up. She managed to get up, but not without a little bit of wobbling, which made the man wrap his arm around her to support her. “Heh, you must have gotten hammered.”
Elisabeta let out a strained chuckle at the man’s words. “I wish that was it.”
He was shocked but he shook his head and said nothing. “C’mon, let’s get you some help.” He started walking forward to lead her to his friend.
A few silent minutes passed and Elisabeta looked at the unknown man.
“What’s your name?”
“Huh?”
“You’re helping me, but I don’t know anything about you.”
“Ah, my name is Nyx. What’s yours?” Elisabeta’s jaw clenched but she answered.
“Uh-Elisabeta.”
“Nice to meet you Elisa.”
“Elisa? Oh, my friends usually call me Beta.”
“Beta?”
“Y-yeah, my uh… friend… gave it to me and it caught on.” That… was hard for her to say. It was Alistair who gave it to her and all she could say was that he was her friend. That was what it was when she died. Friends. No matter how much her heart stung.
Nyx gave a sound of acknowledgment.
“What brought you to Insomnia?” Nyx asked.
“Oh-I just, kinda wound up here. Uh-”
“Sorry to leave suddenly but we’re here. Stay here and I’ll be back,” Nyx cut her off. He took off into the darker area that was still full of life. She tried to keep her eyes on the man but it was a futile effort as he dashed through the area.
Elisabeta took this time to really look around. This place… was like no other she has seen before. The buildings were just so tall, and seemed so different from the towers in Ferelden. They looked perfect. This is not even the weirdest part. What the fuck are these moving… boxes!
What the fuck?
How do they work? How are they so fast? They seem so dangerous, even more than an angry horse. And those would kick your teeth in. She knew she could not just ask this stranger, she was already suspicious. How can she ask about them?
“Hey!” Elisabeta snapped out of her thoughts to look up to the man she had been talking to, who had a beautiful woman in tow. She had a slim figure with clothes fit to her body and fine brown hair tied into a bun.
“Hey,” She responded back.
“Nyx, did you really bring this young girl here to us? You’re 30 and she is what, 18?”
“I’m 20…”
“She’s 20! That’s still young!” She moved her hand out gesturing to Elisabeta with an exasperated look on her face.
“It’s not like that!” Nyx defended.
“Then what is it?”
“I found her passed out on the street!”
“Passed out on the street?” She had venom in those words.
“It’s true…” Elisabeta cut in. The woman turned to face her and her expression softened. She moved to get a better look of Elisabeta.
“I’m sorry sweetheart, what happened? You look terrible.”
“Uh-I…” Elisabeta didn’t know what to say and looked away. She was clearly uncomfortable.
“It’s okay, c’mon, Nyx said you needed some help.” The woman turned away and started walking into the area. Elisabeta stood still looking at the woman who’s demeanor changed at the drop of a hat.
“You coming?” Nyx asked, looking right at Elisabeta.
“Y-yeah!” Elisabeta moved, following Crowe with Nyx at her side. Elisabeta leaned in a little bit to the man.
“Who is she?”
“Oh Crowe?” Nyx stole a glance at the young woman. “She can be a bit rough around the edges but she has a soft side, as you saw.”
“Crowe…” Elisabeta tested the name, then looked forward trying to find the brunette. Instead, she saw a lot of people who were casting warry glances her way. Like she was out of place. Because she was.
“This way,” Nyx said, gently grabbing her arm. He pulled her away from the crowd, closer to the shadows. She did not hear what was being said, at least if she did, she did not let on. Nyx felt somewhat protective and that he needed to keep her from listening to the gossip as much as he could.
“Did you come to Insomnia with other people?” Nyx asked.
“Huh? Oh, no.” The man let out a noise of acknowledgment. “My friends aren’t… here.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“It’s alright.”
“If that’s true you’re strong for a 20 year old. I’m from Galahad, y’know. It might have been years ago but it still hurts. I lost… a lot.”
He wanted to believe the young woman in tha she’s fine, but he could not. He understood loss, all of the galahds did and none of them were recovered.
“Nyx!” A new man called out. He was a large man with a beard and dark brown hair tied into a braid.
“Hey Libertus,” Nyx groaned. “As much as I love talking to you, we need to catch up with Crowe.”
Elisabeta quietly laughed which is what caught the man’s, Libertus, attention. “A pretty one, what’s your name? And what are you doing with Nyx here?”
Libertus had a clear smirk in his voice as he punched Nyx’s shoulder. However, Elisabeta tensed on instinct, one she gained from the blight because of the bounty placed on Alistair and her head from that fucking tratior! Nyx had proven he had good intentions, which helped her, but Libertus, who has proven nothing, just… asked.
She hesitated, which both men noticed. She did not want to give it, and Nyx opened his mouth but Elisabeta spoke before he could.
“Nonya.” She started picking up her pace a little bit.
“Nonya…? Wait-”
“Nonya Business.” Nyx snorted about the man falling for it but Libertus rolled his eyes.
After a few seconds Elisabeta saw the beautiful woman, Crowe, in front of a building. She squinted her eyes at the new man.
“I see you picked up a Libertus.”
Said man moved forward and wrapped his arm around her shoulders. “Oh, Crowe, don’t be like that.” The woman rolled her eyes and bent down to escape the man’s grasp.
“C’mon, uh…” She was looking at Elisabeta. Elisabta clenched her jaw.
“Elisabeta, Beta for short.” It was small but audible.
“C’mon Beta.” She walked through the doors but looked back at the three and squinted her eyes. “Just Beta.”
Nyx nodded in response and Elisabeta followed the other woman. Crowe led her past some rooms and to a metal door with a button with an arrow that pointed up, which Crowe pressed. It lit up which surprised the younger woman. Elisabeta was lost. What was this?
“Ya look constipated, what’s wrong?” Crowe asked.
“Oh, um, I haven’t seen one of these in person.” Elisabeta pointed to the meal doors.
“Really? Well then, don’t be afraid.” Which made Elisabeta even more afraid. The longer the wait the longer Elisabeta got anxious until there was a beep and the metal doors slid open. Crowe walked through the entryway to the closet sized room and looked like she pressed another button on the side. She looked up at Elisabeta with a look and stuck her arm out through the entryway.
“I promise, it’s safe.” Elisabeta took a breath and walked through the way and Crowe lowered her arm which let the doors close. Soon there was movement which started Elisabeta and she grasped onto the rail on the side of the box.
“What the fuck!” It came out before she could filter herself.
“I live on the 10th floor so it shouldn’t take too long for the elevator.” Crowe was unsure what to do but she wanted to help. Elisabeta on the other hand, was clenching the rail so hard her fists went white. Soon after the box, elevator? Came to a stop, which started her more, and she closed her eyes. She heard the sound of the doors opening but she didn’t budge. Then she felt a hand on her arm which made her open her eyes and look at the concerned face of Crowe.
“It’s alright, it’s time to leave the elevator.” Elisabeta gently nodded, let go of the rail, and slowly left the steel box. “My apartment is just to the right.”
Elisabeta walked in the directed way as Crowe seemed to go into her pocket to get out her key. When she unlocked her door, Elisabeta saw a small but kind of messy room with things she’s never seen before.
There were a lot of metal looking or matte surfaces she did not quite know. Black surfaces and boxes.
“Yeah, I’m sorry for the mess but make yourself at home, I’ll get you some water.”
Elisabeta looked around and took a seat on what seemed to be a couch. The piece of furniture seemed to be facing a thin surface that seemed to have an opaque black glass covering it. She was curious about the object and almost missed the other woman giving her a glass of water.
“Thank you.”
“No big deal.” Elisabeta looked down at the glass of clear liquid and studied it, then brought it to her nose, a tad cautious of the good will she’s been given.
“What are you doing?” Elisabeta let out a small noise of surprise.
“I’m just… not that I don’t trust your kindness, but I just-I always check when given something.” Crowe gave Elisabeta a curious look and sat down on the other side of the couch with her body facing the younger woman. Elisabeta then looked at her and Crowe took a sip of her own drink. Elisabeta hesitantly followed suit.
“Elisabeta.” It was soft but Elisabeta looked up at the woman and let out a small hum of acknowledgment.
“What happened to you?” Crowe asked.

Codex Entry Unlocked - The 5th Blight’s Archdemon Urthemiel
Sacrifices Must Be Made Codex Entry
Masterlist
——————————————–
“In Darkness eternal they searched, For those who had goaded them on, Until at last they found their prize, Their got, their betrayer: The sleeping dragon Dumat. Their taint Twisted even the false-god and the whisperer Awoke at last, in pain and horror, and led Them to wreak havoc upon all the nation’s of the world: The first Blight.” -Threnodies 8:7
The false dragon-gods of the Tevinter Imperium lie buried deep within the earth, where they have been imprisoned since the Maker cast them down.
No one knows what it is that drives the darkspawn in their relentless search for the sleeping Old Gods. Perhaps it is instinctively, as moths fly into torch flames. Perhaps there is some remnant of desire for vengeance uptown the ones who goaded the magisters to assault heaven. Whatever the reason, when darkspawn find one of these ancient dragons, it is immediately afflicted by the taint. It awakens twisted and corrupted, and leads the darkspawn in a full scale invasion of the land: a Blight.
Urthemiel was once the Tevinter god of beauty. In ancient times, he was worshiped by creatives and was known to be the fairest and most graceful of the Old Gods. They created a festival in his honor that would last for a fortnight and was filled with creative outputs all dedicated to his honor.
Some people speak of Urthemiel as a master manipulator who helped persuade the ancient Tevinter Magisters to attempt to reach the Golden City and urged his servant to join the endeavor.
Information on whether he is truly well liked or not is unclear, but he is still worshiped to this day.

Chapter 6 of Sacrifices Must Be Made
A/N: And with this, I will be taking a small Hiatus (I should return January). This is finals week and then it's the holidays and I want to spend that time with my family. I'll also be spending more time developing the next arc of the story and maybe replay FFXV.

Elisabeta’s eyes snapped open and she gasped for breath. Her whole body felt sore for various reasons. The misty blue light that met her eyes was sudden and hurt. Her lungs ached like she had suffocated. Her collarbone felt like her cat had left a deep and long scratch along it. Her chest felt dense. Her stomach felt like there was a huge pressure on it which kept her pinned in place against a hard surface.
After a second, she realized she could move her arms, so she pressed her hand into what she assumed was ground, instead, her hand went right through it. She jumped and moved her hand away immediately.
Not long after, Elisabeta heard what seemed like footsteps and she managed to turn her head from where they came from. The misty blue faded into a dark green as this person approached. She looked… like a child. Her hair had a faint glow which was similar to the green she saw in the Fade. She was barefoot and had a weird but elaborate dress on.
Could this be… Andraste? This seemed nothing like what the chantry taught, or what she learned in the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Andraste was always depicted as a beautiful but fierce warrior with long white hair and not… a small child.
“Can you not hear me?” Elisabeta jumped.
“Huh…?”
“What is your name?” She was stern and direct with her words.
“O-Oh Elisabeta Cousland.”
“Elisabeta Cousland… hm…” The girl seemed to be in deep thought.
“Are… you Andraste?” Elisabeta could not get the question out of her head.
“Andraste? No. I am from a different world than your own.”
Elisabeta was extremely confused. Different world? What does she mean?
“I can tell you have immense power. More than most people who wind up in this pocket.”
“What do you mean different world…?”
“It is as I said.”
“But… how?” The girl sighed.
“Quite inquisitive are we? Well we are in a space in between words, many unimaginable to you. But that’s enough, your power is needed elsewhere.” With that, the girl turned around and snapped her fingers.
Elisabeta felt the weight that was on her stomach pull her further down. It seemed like she was being slowly submerged in gel and it made the woman panic. She found, however, the more she panicked, the faster she sunk into the forgine substance.
“Wait! Who are you!” She screamed through heavy breaths. The child did not even turn around.
“It doesn’t matter!” Was the last thing she heard before she was fully submerged.
Once she was past the barrier, it did not feel like gel or even water: It felt like air. She could breathe, but she could not see, not even from the direction she fell from. It was darker than any night she had experienced. She felt that her eyes were open, but still there was no light. She could not make heads or tails of her spending and did not even see her own body.
Elisabeta frantically moved her head around searching for something, when she finally saw what seemed like… white. It was faint, but there was a brightness and she positioned herself to try and go towards the white.
It was a difficult task since she felt like she had minimal control over how she moved but she managed. The same sensation of going through gel occurred, and she felt her weight again. She was laying on her back and felt coldness against it but a warmness on her face.
She opened her eyes and saw the sky again.

Elisiabeta’s Burial (Bonus Chapter)
Sacrifices Must be Made Bonus Chapter: Post Chapter 5
Masterlist | Chapter 5
W/C: 577
A/n: First Bonus Chapter! Heh nice. Also I apologize for the late update, I honestly forgot it was Sunday.
---
The Darkspawn immediately retreated once the beam flew up into the heavens. Alistair’s heart dropped with a sinking suspicion of what happened.
The group who fought this battle by Elisabeta’s side, were thrown against the nearest wall when the explosion occurred. It took several moments before they recuperated, but once Leliana saw she ran to the fallen body.
Fen’Harel barked and Leliana cried for Wynne to heal her, but everything she tried did not bring the noble warrior back to life.
In the end, Sten carried her body to the gates. There was a somber silence when the army saw this sight and Alistair was broken.
After a few weeks, the restoration was on its way and bodies were being returned to loved ones. Alistair let Eamon temporarily take over as Alistair gathered the rest of the companions and took Elisabeta's body to Highever. It was not to be her final resting place, but it was an important place for her.
Alistair was surprised to find Fergus well at the estate, and told him of his sister’s passing. It did not take long for a viewing to be set up with many people that Elisabeta had touched. Her companions, Bodan and Sandle, Dagna, to name only a few who attended.
Alistair stood behind the stone that Elisabeta was on and looked out to everyone who looked his way.
“My friends.” He took a deep breath to hold back more tears. “we are here to pay respects to the Grey Warden that saved us all. She gave her life to destroy the Blight, a sacrifice we must never forget. It was no accident that she was there, either. She was special, and each of us has had our life touched by her in some way.”
Some people clearly sniffled in the audience and a few more murmured at his last sentence.
“I… I thought that she would stand by my side forever.” Alistair had a hard time keeping himself together. “The Grey Wardens couldn’t have asked for anyone finer. How do you properly honor someone like that?”
He looked down at Elisabeta’s body. “The Grey Wardens are building a magnificent tomb at Weisshaupt, right next to Garathel’s, but I’d like to do something as well.”
Alistair looked directly at her brother. “Fergus Cousland, please step forward. We were very pleased to discover you alive. Your sister thought you had died at Ostagar.”
Fergus did as the king commanded and formally responded, “I only wish I had recovered from my wounds sooner.”
Alistair weakly smiled at the man. “Fergus, the Highever lands are restored to you… in addition to the Amaranthine arling that was arl Howe’s.”
Fergus was surprised, but knew what he wanted to do instead. “Your majesty… I would like to give Amaranthine to the Grey Wardens.”
Alistair smiled at the man. “I think that would be fitting. Let all know that the arling of Amaranthine, once the land of Arl Howe, is now granted to the Grey Wardens. There, they can rebuild, and hopefully live up to this example.”
Alistair released another tense breath. “Friends, let us hope that she has gone to a better place and that she knows jus how thankful we are for what she has done here.”
Once the formal speech was done, he looked down to the body of the love of his life. Quietly, so no one heard, he said, “You will be missed… more than I can possibly say.”

Codex Entry Update - Morrigan (Chapter 3)
Sacrifices Must be Made Codex Entry Update at the end of Chapter 3
Masterlist
--------------------------------------------
Morrigan’s Codex Entry
---NEW ENTRY---
On the eve of battle with the archdemon, she revealed why she was sent with them. She had a loophole to prevent the death of a Grey Warden.
She met with Elisabeta and asked her to convince Alistair to have relations with her. Elisabeta freaked out at this, even if it would save both her and Alistair.
Morrigan deeply cared about Elisabeta and when she refused, Morrigan grew irritated. When she realized Elisabeta was not going to take this offer, she left, not wanting to see her friend kill herself.

Codex Entry Update - Alistair Theirin (Chapter 2)
Sacrifices Must be Made Codex Entry Update at the end of Chapter 2
Masterlist
--------------------------------------------
Alistair’s Codex Entry
---NEW ENTRY---
Elisabeta and Eamon worked hard to gather political favor to persuade the landsmeet to help end the growing unease and near civil war that was spreading through Fereldan. To Alistair’s surprise, Elisabeta decided that the throne should be his. He was unsure if he really wanted the position but the Landsmeet all agreed that his father’s throne was now his.
This unfortunately came with a lot of responsibilities he was not fond of. Eamon informed him that he would have to have an heir to the throne, since he was a Grey Warden and it was unlikely he would live long. Eamon voiced his worries about how Elisabeta was also a Grey Warden. Alistair loved Elisabeta with his whole heart but Eamon did have a point, so the same day she had made him king, he broke up with her. This decision killed both of them on the inside.

Codex Entry Unlocked - Wynne
Sacrifices Must Be Made Codex Entry
Masterlist
--------------------------------------------
“It’s perfectly alright to think about the many indignities you plan to inflict on your enemies, but to talk about it… well that would be unladylike.”
Wynne’s aptitude with healing magic was clear from the start. She was well liked by her mentors and was recognized as an exceptionally gifted student. Everyone, even the templars, were able to recognize how she was the best the Circle had to offer.
She spent many years mentoring apprentices in the circle and she was asked to become the successor to First Enchanter Irving, but refused saying she does not desire working for the upper echelons.
Wynne was a senior enchanter at the circle and when she learned of the Late King Calin’s request for aid and she volunteered immediately. At Ostagar was Elisabeta’s first encounter with her, so when the young woman saw her at the circle months later, she was surprised.
Elisabeta was less surprised when she found out that Wynne barely made it out with her life. Wynne did her best to tend to the wounded and then returned to the circle. Upon her return, she learned that Uldred had already returned and was spreading the false narrative that the Wardens had betrayed King Calin. Wynne immediately spoke with Irving and told him the truth. With this information, Irving confronted Uldred about his falsehoods. Uldred grew angry at the confrontation and resorted to drastic measures to take over the tower.
Wynne then goes on to tell that she had lost her life at this first attack. She is only among the living because a Spirit of Faith had entered her. Wynne has kept control but she believes she has been living on borrowed time and has not long left to live. This is one reason she wanted to join Elisabeta on her journey to end The Blight.

What fic have you been working on the longest? What scenes from a fic you’re working on now are you the most excited to write?
Thank you so much for the question!
By far the fic I've worked on on the longest is actually my current fic! It's been about 3 months since I started working on it.
I mostly write one shots since I'm notoriously bad at psyching myself out on series and dropping them (I try to have 2-3 chapters done before I publish chapter 1). I have kept going on Sacrifices because I haven't been able to get it out of my mind. Like I keep writing rough drafts and ideas in my classes xD
There are several things I'm really excited for honestly. I think one of the things I can't wait to write more about is Urthemiel. His soul did combine with Elisabeta after all ;)

Codex Entry Unlocked - Shale
Sacrifices Must Be Made Codex Entry
Masterlist
——————————————–
"What can I say? I have a heart of stone.”
The golems of Orzammar once made up the vanguard of the dwarven army, holding back the tides of darkspawn that flooded out of the Deep Roads, but the art of making them was lost. Many eventually succumbed to the damage sustained in battle.
In her journeys, Elisabeta came across a merchant that practically gave her a control rod so she went to Honnleath to find the golem. Once she had arrived in town, she found that the code word did not work. She looked around and found a door that was cracked and entered the place hoping to find survivors. Luckily she did and one of the people she saved happened to know the code word, but he would not tell her without more help. He wanted his daughter found and was afraid she was dead.
Elisabeta traveled down into the depths and was able to find the young child, but the girl was being controlled by a demon. Elisabeta was able to defeat the demon and brought the girl back to her father.
The father was elated to have his daughter back and gave Elisabeta the real code word and she immediately went to activate the Golem.
The man advised against it, but she tried anyway. The code word activated Shale, but the rod did not control her. However, that allowed Shale to have her personality.
Later they were able to find out that Shale had been Shayle of House Cadash, a warrior of King Valtor, and a volunteer who chose to dedicate her life to the defenses of Orzammar.
In the journey, Elisabeta grew as close to Shale as was possible for a Golem, and she would not have it any other way. Shale also took an interest in Wynne and the two had a mutual interest in each other.

Codex Entry Unlocked - Zevran Arainai
Sacrifices Must Be Made Codex Entry
Masterlist
A/N: I completely forgot about Taliesen being after the Landsmeet until writing this Codex entry djsksdja I thought it happened just whenever you are traveling through Denerim
--------------------------------------------
Between the Tevinter Immperium, Rivain, and the Free Marches, sits the nation of Antiva. Although it possesses little in the way of resources, the country’s location makes it the center for trade in the north. The capital, Antiva City, is the wealthiest city in the world. Antiva has virtually no army since the monarchy is too weak to support one. A lot of citizens would be hard pressed to even name who the king is. The true power lies in the hands of a dozen guilds.
The most prolific of these is the House of Crows. They are the most efficient, most feared, and most expensive guild of assassins in the world, and they call Antiva their home. Their reputation alone defends the borders from all threats, even the Qunari don’t dare attack.
Loghain contacted the Crows to assassinate Alistair and Elisabeta and the task was given to Zevran. When he finally found the group and tried to assassinate the wardens, he was no match and was swiftly taken down by Elisabeta. She was familiar with stories of the Crows and knew they would not take kindly to the news. She contemplated what to do since the man was at her mercy and she remembered she needed all the help she could get.
The offer surprised everyone for one reason or another, Alistair being the most cautious of this decision. Elisabeta explained her reasoning and so the man joined them on their year long quest.
He was a humorous man who would flirt with everything that had legs, but it was endearing to Elisabeta. She grew to be friends with the man and he admired her as well. He even stayed loyal to her when the Crows found them and offered him a deal of his betrayal not affecting his place in the guild.

A Means to an End
Chapter 5 of Sacrifices Must be Made
A/N: Here we are! The end of DAO! This is just the first major arch. Just you wait ;) God I have so much planned for this fic and it’s not even funny
Previous | Masterlist | Next
———-
Sten, Leliana, Wynne, and Fen’Harel were in the front with her. Their first stop was the Denerim Market District. It was not easy to get there since darkspawn came from every corner ready to attack the group.
Something felt off to Elisabeta. These darkspawn felt weak and she easily killed them with a single blow. That uneased her, but it helped prevent a lot of deaths.
Elisabeta finally saw the entrance to the Market District and she rushed forward. This was where the general was and she needed to kill it as soon as possible.
Once Elisabeta turned the corner of the chanry, she saw two large Ogers waiting for her. One already had a boulder in its hands and once it saw her, it threw it at her.
“FUCK BACK UP!” She screamed, narrowly avoiding the giant rock. “Pay attention but more darkspawn are coming! It might behoove us to take down the Herlock and Genlock first since they are easy targets, but they will overwhelm us if we are not careful. Sten and I will focus on the Ogers!”
With her command, the fighting commenced. The Mages attacked but also kept on top of healing the Dwarfs. Wynne was a dedicated healer to Elisabeta and her companions. Sten and Elisabeta worked in unison taking down the giant ogres in front of them before they joined the dwarfs in battle against the darkspawn in the area.
She told them to push forward and it was only then that they saw the General, ANOTHER GIANT ASS OGER. ANDRASETE’S ASS COULD THEY GET A BREAK FROM OGERS? They scared Elisabeta shitless.
“DWARFS FOCUS ON THE LESSER DARKSPAWN, MY COMPANIONS WILL HELP ME WITH THE GENERAL!”
The woman steadied herself and took out her bow to catch the attention of the General. It worked like a charm and brought the monster away from the group of Darkspawn.
Unsurprisingly, it was a difficult task to defeat the beast, but she popped some health potions and toppled it over. Once she did, she joined the Dwarfs and mages fighting what was left of the Darkspawn in the area. She saw some bodies of Dwarfs and a few mages on the ground that shook her. She knew that some would die, but she did not like it anyway. She had to take them or she would die before facing the Archdemon.
Once the area was cleared out, she directed everyone to move to the Alliange. It was not too long of a distance, but it felt like forever to everyone. The fear was palpable but everyone had to push forward or they would be dead anyway.
“Y-you! It’s you! The maker sure gave you the gift of good timing, didn’t he?” Elisabeta had not noticed the elf at first so it startled her. She nodded at the familiar elf. “There is a large group of Darkspawn approaching and the gates won’t hold! We need your help!”
“I can handle this, just get yourselves to safety.” It came out before Elisabeta even registered what Shianni said. “When the path is clear we will tell you.”
“A-alright I only hope there is time to-” She did not even finish her sentence when a large noise was heard.
“They are breaking through!” exclaimed the male elf that was in front of Elisabeta; panic was clear in his voice.
“RUN, ALL OF YOU RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!” Shianni yelled, hoping everyone in the alienage heard her. Elisabeta’s group saw many elves start running away.
“Prepare yourselves!” Elisabeta commanded and rushed towards the gates. When she saw the shotty barricade, she looked back.
“Mages on the raised platform! Leliana come with me to shoot down Darkspawn to defend the Mages! Warriors stand near the barricade and prepare for when they break through!”
Leliana ran forward with Elisabeta and the two began to shoot every enemy as fast as they could. It was not as quick as they would like, but it held off for a while. That was until an ogre showed up. It burrowed through the Darkspawn and it seemed to even step on and squashed a few genlocks on its path. The monster rammed into the flimsy barricade and Sten, Fen’Harel, and the dwarves launched into battle.
It was not long until the general showed up. Elisabeta took a deep breath and switched to her long sword and jumped down the raised platform. She was good with a bow, but even better with a sword. She joined Sten in taking down the strong darkspawn.
As suspected, it was difficult but it was done. Elisabeta was left gasping for air after the battle. She was definitely feeling the effects of battle and she was almost out of all her Stamina Draughts. Elisabeta turned around and saw many elfs looking her way. Presumably coming out to run further away.
Elisabeta popped a lesser Stamina Draught and stood up straight. “ELFS OF THE ALLIANAGE! A path should have been made clear! Run to the city gates where you shall find the rest of my army. They shall watch out for you!”
Thank yous were heard as many elfs ran the way she directed them. She smiled and told everyone to do a quick survey of the area for any more survivors. Once they were done, they took off once again. Elisabeta hoped everything was going alright on Alistair’s front.
The Archdemon had been flying above them for most of the time. It did not attack quiet yet, but it gave off the presence of a predator stalking its prey. Elisabeta had noticed this, but she was not worried yet. It seemed like it was keeping an eye on not just herself.
A chill ran up Elisabeta’s spine and she felt the urge to look up. She regretted it. Riordan stood on top of a building near Fort Drakon and grabbed the attention of the Archdemon. Riordan took out his sword and jumped on top of the dragon to try and strike it down. The monster did everything it could to knock the man off before it rammed itself into one of the buildings. This knocked Riordan and his sword moved and cut the dragon’s side and half of one of its wings before the knife did not have anything else to say in, which caused Riordan to fall off the beast. No one could survive that drop…
Elisabeta knew she had to be the one to sacrifice herself but… she felt heartbreak. She was so adamant on this choice, that she was the one who would die, but she held onto the sliver of hope that Riordan would deal the final blow and allow her and Alistair to live on. Together or not…
She took in a sharp breath and pushed forward. The Archdemon struggled to fly and crashed onto the top of Fort Drakon. Convenient. The building was right ahead of them so she continued to lead her group further into battle until they finally reached the entrance to the tower.
She turned to look at the people who have followed her thus far. The amount of people had easily halved, but if it was not for the dead, they would not be there. Elisabeta took another deep breath.
“Everyone!” They all already had their eyes on her. “From this point forward, I will only take my companions.”
Sounds of confusion were heard from the small crowd.
“Are you sure?” Someone spoke out.
“Yes, I want you guys to defend the entrance to keep any more darkspawn from entering. I can handle the rest.”
The crowd was uneasy but in the end they agreed.
“I promise I will defeat that fucker if it’s the last thing I do!” It was her way to reassure them. It helped but they were still on edge. She did her best to reassure and once she decided she did the best she could, she took off into the fort.
It was strangely quiet. All she heard at that moment was her and her companion’s footsteps. She was tense, but moved forward. Elisabeta had no idea where she was going and neither did her companions. They pressed forward and finally they heard noise.
All 5 prepared themselves and moved forward. Elisabeta and Sten worked together well, taking the aggro off the rest of the companions and making it so the others seldom took damage.
The group continued their onslaught, killing every darkspawn Elisabeta could sense. Battles ramped up the closer they got to the Archdemon. Funny enough, the darkspawn were what led them to the dragon. It was for the best since they would have likely been there for hours otherwise.
They entered one last room to fight the last of the darkspawn before they reached the roof. She felt the overwhelming presence of the dragon and it filled her with dread. She knew this needed to come to an end though.
She climbed up the stairs and looked at the final door. She did not open it, and instead, turned around to look at her companions.
“I love you all.” It was simple but she needed to say it. Leliana simply smiled at her, Fen’Harel barked, Wynne nodded, and Sten looked confused. She knew Sten would react this way. She had learned much about the Qunari from him, and her understanding of them, it is clear that platonic I love you’s are not a common occurrence.
She turned back around, took a deep breath, and opened the door. Immediately they were greeted with Darkspawn. Elisabeta slashed them down one by one with the help of her companions. That was until she finally saw the Archdemon. Her blood ran cold since she finally saw just how massive that thing was.
She glanced at Sten and he knew what she wanted. Elisabeta worked well with her fellow warriors and they understood her commands easily. They all knew their strengths and Elisabeta knew how to work with them to utilize them. By far she worked the best with Alistair, but her movements with Sten were effective and it showed well at this moment.
He slashed the darkspawn down, protecting Wynne and gaining the attention of each new one that turned up. Wynne used her keen eye to keep track of the health of each of her allies and would heal them when she could. Leliana picked off the Darkspawn that approached the Archdemon. Elisabeta and Fen’Harel were the ones who attacked the beast. Elisabeta tried to keep its attention on her, slicing it constantly and as quickly as she could.
After a while of whittling the dragon’s health down, it flew away. Elisabeta could not reach it, so she took out her bow and shot, continuing to deplete it’s health. After a bit the Dragon flew back to Elisabeta and attacked her again.
The Archdemon seemed to be focused solely on the woman as if it knew what this battle ment.
Elisabeta felt glad her companions understood the plan. She was even more grateful that Leliana kept most of the Darkspawn that tried to attack her at bay. She was pleased that Wynne was as tactical as she was with heals. She was happy that Sten killed most of the Darkspawn that came from nowhere. She was overjoyed that this was the group she brought.
Tears started falling down Elisabeta’s face when she swung her sword. She knew this feeling. She jumped onto the Archdemon and pierced her sword through its head. She toppled off the creature as it fell to the ground. Her sword was still in it’s head where she could not reach, so she quickly grabbed a sword off a darkspawn body and rushed forward and pierced its neck.
A beam of light erupted from the Archdemon and pain coursed through every inch of Elisabeta. She could not breathe. She felt like there was something filling her lungs. She felt like she was on fire. She felt like her heart was being squeezed. Her limbs felt like they were being ripped apart.
Every part of her body was being attacked by Urthemiel. Their souls intertwined and began fighting in her body.
Suddenly, a snapping sensation ran through her chest, and she collapsed.

It's not like this was my first ever. You can look at my other ao3 posts
It's just because its for this fic I've been pouring over for weeks.
I didn't realize how much somethings meant to me.
Last week, *someone* used a bot to give me a ton of Kudos on both Sacrifices Must Be Made stories on my AO3.

I knew it was botted bc if you looked at the Codex Entries I only had 5 hits.
This didn't sit right with so I sent an emailand I was got back to a few days later with conformation that is was botted. They said they can't remove kudos and the only way to keep from botting is to make it so only accounts and kudos. I don't like that, I like support, like my first guest Kudos gave me 🥺
This morning though I woke up to this

Someone left Kudos. Someone I don't know who also has an account. My heart absolutely soared.

Codex Entry Unlocked - Oghren
Sacrifices Must Be Made Codex Entry
Masterlist
--------------------------------------------
“I’m not saying I should be your first pick for a dance partner at the inaugural ball, but in the Deep Roads, I’m your man.”
Oghren of House Kondrat, was once a promising member of the Warrior Caste. He was not from an especially high-ranked house, but many of its members, especially Oghren, had won notable victories in the Provings and were considered to be rising in prestige.
Eventually a Smith Caste family with plenty of money, but no political connections, offered their daughter, Branka, for Marriage. House Kondrat accepted this.
Soon, Branka was named a Paragon for her achievements in smithery. The newly-made House Branka and House Kondrat went into the Deep Roads and vanished.
Time passed and it became more and more clear that Oghren was abandoned, he became the butt of many jokes throughout Orzammar. To cope with this, he became a drunkard.
In one of his drunken fits, he challenged another warrior to a Proving over an insult and killed him. The match was supposed to be fought to first-blood. He was punished and stripped his house and barred from bearing arms: a fate almost worse than exile for a warrior.
When Elisabeta was allowed to enter Orzammar, he sought her out and asked her if he could join her in her search for Branka. Elisabeta immediately accepts.
After finding that Branka has gone mad, Elisabeta had asked Oghren to stay with her. Saying he had nothing better to do, he accepted her offer and left Orzammar to help the fight against the blight.
Oghren was glad to be fighting again, but also glad he had access to even more alcohol. He fought with all his might and had humorous conversations with Elisabeta. In battle he saw how fierce Elisabeta was and grew to admire her. In the same note, Elisabeta grew to admire the determination and power of the dwarf.
The two became close and Oghren grew to be one of Elisabeta’s most loyal friends.
