anyone can do magic, but it requires an almost monk-like dedication to learn and most surviving knowledge of it is very esoteric and difficult to understand - hence why every spellcaster only has like 1-3 spells that they use. players, on the other hand, have a natural affinity for magic thanks to their otherworldly knowledge and power over creation.

the Nameless Kingdom revere(d) undeath as a state of divine immortality and exalted bliss. The Nameless One and its acolytes (the Necromancers) achieved lichdom, and attempted to preserve themselves and their society by granting unlife to all of their citizens. This grand spell might have gone wrong, resulting in the magical death plague that transforms villagers and piglins into zombies today. Regardless, the Nameless One and necromancers still have some level of authority over all undead.

Here's my personal headcannon.
Pumpkins naturally contain powerful nature magic and carving faces into them gives them a outlet to release that magic through hence why carved Pumpkins hide you from endermen aswell as explaining how carved Pumpkins give inanimate gollems the spark of life, its also why newly summoned iron golems have vines on them already and how they can produce flowers to give to baby villagers, because iron golems are able to Channel the natural magic of their Pumpkins to summon plants such as flowers and vines, it just never uses this power in combat because it's much more physically strong then it is magically strong so it's more practical to use its iron fist for punching. This is also how snow golems have stick arms despite only requiring snow and a carved Pumpkin to creat them

Creepers are plant-like creatures that reproduce by parasitism. When a creeper explodes, it's basically acting as a frag grenade to send tiny, barbed "seeds" into nearby living creatures. They don't penetrate far, but they implant particles that will infect the host and cause a greenish, swollen pox across the creature's body. After an incubation period of a week, the pox will pop from the skin, releasing matured creeper spores that will plant into the ground and VERY quickly grow into mature creepers.
The pox itself isn't infectious at all, but patients are still quarantined to keep the pustules from bursting near any fertile soil. Patients are often kept in heavy tents with minimal airflow, enclosed stone brick buildings, or underground. Without fertile soil, the fertile spores from the pox don't last long once they burst, only a day or so. Once that period is over, surviving patients are cleaned up and released back into society.

The Nameless Kingdom and how it contributed to the downfall of the world
(This is sort of a follow-up to my previous submission, just to clarify and expand upon a few things.)
Minecraft Dungeons and it's tie-in novel Rise of the Arch Illager introduce the Nameless Kingdom, a bygone society of ancient builders who built the desert pyramids, and their sovereign, the Nameless One, an extremely powerful lich who still rules over its kingdom. The wizards of the kingdom practiced necromancy, and still linger as the undead necromancers, capable of casting bolts of soulfire and summoning the dead at will. Evidently as well, they elevated wizards to positions of political power (hence why the Nameless One is such a powerful spellcaster).
It is my belief that the nameless kingdom, as part of their religion, revered undeath as a sacred state of immortality and contentment. As such, when the world began to crumble, the Nameless One and its wizards decided to attempt to preserve their society and culture in what they viewed as the only proper way - to conjure a grand spell, granting all of the kingdom's citizens the sacred embrace of undeath and allowing them to live forever in exalted bliss.
I'm a little unsure whether or not the spell went awry or not, considering the properties of the necrotic blight that they created, and how it seems more like an infectious plague than something deliberately controlled. The book, though, says that the Nameless One controls "the undead army" - as in, THE undead army - Singular - and that it allowed Archie to control the army in exchange for him using the Orb of Dominance to make them all immune to burning in the sun. As such, I am led to believe that most, if not all undead in the world are under the control of the Nameless One and its necromancer acolytes, and that they act in accordance with its will.

the dominant religion among villagers views alchemy and transmutation as sacred - hence why cleric villagers sell alchemical ingredients.

What if
You touch a creeper and realize that they’re almost like moss?..
Legend has it that the creepers grow on the north side of the trees

Something deep down in my soul tells me that baby endermen are called “kittens”. I have no reasonable explanation for this headcanon nor for the existence of baby endermen. Just.. Endermen have kittens. They’re silly and make kitten sounds.
Proposal; enderkits.

I dunno if someone said that already but uhhh
Endermen bathe in dust or sand instead of water, like sparrows and chinchillas do… And for some reason, it works.

Note
the reason that shulkers can carry stuff around while chests can’t is because shulker shells have the same levitation magic as live shulkers, meaning no matter how full a box actually is, it only weighs a few pounds

On the utility of ghast tears
Have you ever wondered what ghast tears are for? Well, there's a very similar substance in nature that comes from another ginormous headed animal that may serve a similar function: spermaceti. The reasons why I assume this is the case are: - Ghast tears don't require a bottle to be held, which hints at them being solid or at least viscous rather than fluid like actual tears - They're strangely white & opaque for something supposedly meant to be a liquid - The wording "ghast tear" implies that this substance comes from the animal's head, much like spermaceti. This might be the etymological reason behind the name
Now, what purpose would ghasts gain from this material? If you're not familiar with spermaceti, it's a waxy, torpid substance found in the heads of sperm whales, whose use remains undetermined, although it's hypothesized to either work as a cushion, a buoyancy controller, or the most widely accepted answer, aid in echolocation.
Since ghasts are gigantic, they often bump into rocks & stones because they fly through a cavernous environment & having their bodies filled with a viscous white mass would help serve as a cushion. This could also tie in with the tears' healing properties, which would allow them to cure the damage received from a possible impact with the nether's cavernous terrain, while also minimizing the damage done by the impact, making them a double utility tool.
Considering ghasts are huge & have seemingly no method of self suspension in the air, the tears might help them stay afloat, & although this might not be entirely plausible in an earth-like environment, with a different atmosphere, it might just be plausible enough for speculative fiction purposes.
Lastly, this substance helps them with echolocating their prey. This might sound strange, but it does make enough sense to be worthy of consideration, as ghasts are only ever shown to open their eyes when aiming at their prey & their constant wailing may be their echolocation put in practice.

Some of the cave sounds are auditory hallucinations from the player. Some can be explained by mob activity in the caves, like sculk or mineshafts

Riffing off the last anon ask, I personally think humans and villagers are separate species, but in the same way that horses and donkeys are.
Humans and villagers can still have children, but those children are almost always biologically infertile, with only rare exceptions regarding females.
Illagers are actually biologically the same species as villagers, but have intentionally altered their bodies with magic to differentiate themselves since they were ostracized for their practices.
Piglins are completely biologically distinct from any overworld species, and so are unable to breed at all with any of them.
Endermen do not reproduce, and actually come into being via spontaneous generation, in the End. They have no primary sexual characteristics, no inherent concept of biological sex.
Fascinating! I always love discussions of species in minecraft.
