What if Lilo and Stitch (2025) was an in-universe movie about Lilo and Stitch's story?

(Scene: Lilo, Nani, Stich, Pleakley, Jumba, David and Cobra sit in a movie theater with the lights coming on. The first five just stare in slack-jawed disbelief, Cobra is as stoic as ever, and David forces a smile.)

David: "Well. That, uh... wasn't too bad, right? The effects were decent, and the actors did a good-"

i know I'm not the only one w mixed up feelings for lars of the stars spin off, but i actually hope I'm not the only one having problems with it for this

it made me so sad and disappointed hearing that it'll probably be on Amazon Prime Video, SU is a show that i grew with and was there for me when nothing else was and I feel like we can all agree that it's a show that's taught many of us about love and resistance, but most of all, it tells the story of beings resisting against imperialism...

then... why are we all alright with it holding hands with one of the corporations de BDS Movement is putting pressure on? why is it okay for all of us to wait to consume something from a platform benefiting and investing on the GENOCIDE going on Palestine? why is a show who showed us resistance from imperialism in such a sensible way, now just completely ignore the fact that they wanna sell the continuation of that story to a corporation thats paying for this genocide?

it's just heartbreaking how performative speeches against imperialism and hate are, because the second we have to bring things to action no one really wants to change the way they act. i really wanna enjoy this spinoff, SU has been so important to me and Lars is most definitely one of my favorite characters ever, i really wanna see more from the off colors and from space, but selling it on that direction it's just heartbreaking

and before anyone says that there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, i know, but I'm not talking about ethically right or wrong, I'm talking about financing an ongoing genocide, and even though every other consumption choice may not be "ethical" you can still chose not to put your money on genocides

There's a reason why Odysseus sounded so broken when he had to choose between him and his crew. Let's not forget that.

Relistening to the thunder saga and people LOVE memeing on Eurylochus for the "but we'll die" line. You think Odysseus would just forget that he led this crew into battle for 10 years? That Eurylochus is his brother in law?? because they mutinized??? if Eurylochus would've done the same, like Odysseus had said, then Odysseus would've done the same in Eurylochus position. Hell the entire point of their development is that they changed into each other. Of fucking course he sounds so broken, he fought with these men for 10 years. Newsflash, one mutiny isn't gonna change that he actually cared about them. He had their backs, patched them up, lifted their spirits when they were down, fought like all hell to make sure they were okay before the Underworld Saga. He. Cared. About. Them.

That's why the choice was so difficult!!

To anyone wondering if it's worth it to tear down fascist posters or whatever. I spent a few months last year engaged in silent battle with another student at my school who was putting anti trans stickers up everywhere. I had it down to a system where every night I would walk the five block radius they went up in, and tear down all the ones I could reach, and use a stick to put duct tape over the others. Like, within hours of the stickers going up, I would have already purged the whole zone. I knew the basic schedule of whoever put them up based on when and where the stickers appeared. I probably could have found them in person if I'd wanted to. And I told all my classmates and friends what the stickers looked like and got them to rip them down too. And after a few months of this, the stickers slowed, and then stopped forever.

My point is, a lot of this fashy or right wing stuff is one local weirdo. And if you pay attention, and do a little light organizing with your friends, you can basically make their efforts into a giant sisyphisean exercise in misery. You control your streets!

That's how I thought the scene was going to unfold at first, before realizing that the souls were actually dragging him down. And this version honestly makes the scene ten times better to me, because we know Odysseus's been eaten alive by guilt over his friends' death, and that he constantly sees them calling for him to join them, but at the same time, the moment between Get in The Water and Six-hundred Strike is when Ody passes that line between utter defeat and finding his will to survive, so I can totally see him gaining that strength from his lost loved ones' support, because that's what then helps him beat Poseidon, and because it's only fair for him to find peace with himself and the people he's failed, so he can still honor them by completing his mission of going home and not let them die in vain.

So yeah, i really didn't vibe with the whole idea of Polites also being there in the trauma visual of Odysseus being pulled down by the weight of those who died, so i redrew the scene as Polites and the souls of everyone else trying to push him up Just self indulgent stuff to feel happies again
