이 영화의 태도에 대해 생각해보자. 영화 <변호인>은 시작부터 입장과 태도를 분명히 하고 있다. 즉, 이 영화는 실제 사건과 인물로부터 모티브를 가져왔으나 어디까지나 가공의 이야기라는 것이다. 그것이 한 때 실존했던 인물 노무현을 스크린에 ‘본격적으로’ 소환한 첫번째 상업영화의 입장이다(그간 <광해>등을 통해 이미 여러번 소환되었으나 어디까지나 상징으로 기능했다).

한국 주류 개신교가 미쳤다. 화장기 어린 은유가 아니다. 말 그대로 제 정신을 놓았다는 의미다. 배타적 태도에서 비롯된 해묵은 병리적 현상들과 별개로, 장로 출신 대통령 당선인을 정면에 내세운 최근 주류 교계의 행보는 누가 보더라도 성경 속 마귀 들린 자의 그것과 다를 게 없어 보인다. 문제는 눈을 띄우고 마귀를 쫓아줘야 할 믿음의 입술들이 바로 그 광기를 입에 문 주체라는 사실이다.

문득, 시련과 아픔, 그리고 깊은 슬픔이 쌓여가면

그때서야 비로소 사람은 어른으로 성장하는게 아닐까

이런 생각이 든다.

난, 힘든 일과 고통이 예상되는 길을 피하려 애써왔고,
