You make some of my favorite kinds of art. Weird (affectionate) and sometimes eerie (incredibly affectionate)
Can't wait to get a print from you to add to my collection! (When i have the money 😅)
ok first this is very sweet and i really appreciate the support
what i’m wondering though
this ask is from april and i’ve only seen it just now?? and it’s not like i just missed it because i’ve definitely gone through my asks several times between then and now and it DEFINITELY wasn’t there
it just appeared now

How did you learn how to draw? I look up to you and love your style :)
ok long post
so basically first of all: draw a LOT. like a lot a lot. i saw the most progress when i was drawing consistently and practicing fundamentals. it’s boring but fundamentals DO genuinely help.
practice drawing simple forms (cube, cylinder, pyramid, cone, sphere) especially cubes, since you can draw the rest using cubes as a base. draw them from different angles and once you get comfortable move on to more complicated forms (which are really just combinations of simple forms). drawing the same object from different angles, then try to predict what it’ll look like when you rotate it. this is REALLY GOOD exercise for understanding 3d space!!
2. draw from life!! drawing things you see in person is very different from recreating a photo, especially since you can get a lot more variety. photos aren’t bad but ideally you’re drawing objects/poses that are unfamiliar (you want to learn PATTERNS not how to recreate specific details) for figure drawings line of action is a great option!
3. certain practices are good for your development, like limiting the amount of time you have to do a figure drawing, since it forces you to focus on the bigger picture rather than small details. another good one is using pen rather than pencil in your sketchbook. you can’t erase pen so it’ll both force you to be less of a perfectionist and make you more deliberate and confident with your lines.
gesture drawings are also really good for keeping loose and learning the rhythms of the body (probably my favourite exercise)!
4. study other artists!! especially the masters (they’re called masters for a reason). one of my favourites is JC Leyendecker: excellent for shape language and for learning how to draw clothing :) but it doesn’t all have to be artists from 100 years ago; any artist that inspires you can be good to study — which leads into the next point
5. KEEP YOURSELF INSPIRED!! you are learning art to make ART. BE PASSIONATE, BE SINCERE. keep record of anything that speaks to you; you never know what it’ll lead to. there are opportunities for art all around you!!
and remember to experiment and explore, don’t put yourself in a box! no one is ever just one thing!!

How are you doing your 2d eyes on your characters!! I can’t seem to make mine stay in place when I’m animating
i used this tutorial (only real difference is i overlay the eyes/mouth directly over the face instead of using a separate plane)
also i don’t know if this is exactly what you mean by staying in place but it might just be the keyframe interpolation immediately moving between positions. i don’t usually have a problem with it since i set my interpolation mode to constant

Does Jeanne's mouth move?
in its current state no, but the way i have it set up i can very easily add that ability if i want to (which i probably will since i plan on giving her rig a rework soon)

I loved your Asterion drawing! Have you ever read the poem The Two-Headed Calf by Laura Gilpin? Your art reminded of it a lot (both are great)
that’s my favourite poem!! and it’s on my list of future tattoos (art of a two headed calf not the poem itself)
