McFly July day 31: Pepsi Free (free day)

Lone Pine timeline, post-trilogy

It hadn’t exactly been Marty’s intention to spend his Friday night third-wheeling his parents’ date night; it had just sort of happened. Paul canceled their band practice on account of a cold, Jen was busy with a babysitting gig, and he hadn’t felt like making the trip out to Doc and Clara’s place. So, he’d planted himself in front of the TV, resigned to an evening in couch-potato mode, and asked his parents to bring him back something from the restaurant.

Instead, they’d invited him to come along.

“Oh, come on, it’ll be fun,” his mother had said. “And besides, Dad and I have hardly seen you all week.”

That was true.

So, here he was, sitting in a booth sipping soda and shoveling cheesecake into his mouth while his parents share inside jokes and laugh like a couple of teenagers.

He should probably be embarrassed, he figures. Sink down into the booth to hide, lest someone he knows from school spot him hanging out with his mom and dad on a Friday night.

But he just can’t muster up the shame. Can’t tear his gaze from their smiling faces or tune out their lighthearted banter.

Marty sits back against the booth’s cushion. Watches their hands brush as they both reach for the same dessert fork.

A warm sensation settles inside his chest.

“Well, aren’t you glad to be spending a night with your folks?” his father teases.

A smile. “Yeah. Yeah, I am.”

A terrible hush befell the square as Clara Clayton, Hill Valley’s Most Wanted, sauntered onto the dance floor.

Marty grimaced as Doc stared at her.

He had to fall for an outlaw…

But Clara paid Doc no heed; she strolled up to the new schoolteacher.

“How about a dance, Mr. Tannen?”

Buford gulped as her gun pressed into his stomach.

“I don’t dance very well when my partner has a gun in her hand,” he said, lip stiff. “Then again, I don’t suppose you know the art of subtlety.”

Clara quietly drew the hammer.

“I’m afraid you’ve underestimated me, mister.”

bttf edited the sequence down but marty originally tried to get away in the parking lot scene by hopping onto his skateboard and grabbing hold of the bumper of the terrorist van. the terrorists drove around in circles and couldn't find him for like an hour

Friendship Bracelets

Friendship bracelets, to Marty, are what his sister makes at the Craft Cabin at summer camp with a bunch of girls she’ll befriend for the week, likely never see again, but smile back on when she finds it buried in an old box in her closet one day.

They are a little tacky, a little dirty—bright colors dulled from all the wear, tear, sweat, and life that seep into them over time.

They’re a nice sentiment. 

They’re about love.

And as adults, those woven strings forge strong, silver links.

But for him and Doc, they are, aptly, matching timepieces.

McFly July Prompt 31 Pepsi Free (Free Day !): High school Friendship 😃⭐

For the last day of McFly July I decided to go for something a bit more personal and fun !

(This is also a lil sneak peek of how I look like !)

I always think about what it would been like if me and Marty encountered each other in high school. I can see us pulling off such a good bond already on the first day ! He'd be someone I would look up to. We all know he's got a heart of gold :)

I often make up scenarios with me and him doing fun stuff together during lunch break and just being together for the ups and downs of high school lol.

Marty: Hey ! Y'know, you're actually pretty cool ! I thought your art piece of the dog riding the skateboard displayed outside the hallway is awesome ! You draw kid ?

(Insert my real name here !): Thanks ! Drawing is a favourite hobby of mine !

Marty: Woah ! Sick ! I'm into the arts too, but I'm more better at music than drawing *chuckles* I happen to be part of a band of my own and I was wondering if you want to drop by the music room after school to listen to us jam out.

(Insert my real name here !): Count me in pal ! I love the wonderful world of music ! And from this day forward, I'll officially be a fan of your band !

Marty: *smiles & chuckles* Thanks buddy. You're real fun to be around already :)
