i know this is a joke but iirc it’s where no man has gone before and i always understood that as like. humans. no human has been where they’re going. not that nobody at all has been there
"To boldy go where no one has gone before" everywhere you go is populated what the fuck are you talking about

saw someone do powerpoint karaoke on instagram and one of the powerpoints was 'which starfleet captain would give the best head' and i have been dying to know their verdict for the past month or so because i cannot think of an objectively correct answer
#st#look i support the sisko voters#and i think sisko would be pretty good#kirk would blast your socks off by doing things with his tongue you can’t even imagine#he’s the kind of guy to get good head and then immediately try it himself#his technique is insane. perfectly honed#learned from hundreds of people and practiced over years and years of being an enthusiastic lover#sisko could give me the best orgasm of my life#but kirk could give me the best orgasm of several lifetimes#nsft

this makes a lot of sense considering the technological context of the time!
my grandmother worked in a sort of data management-secretarial position in the 70s, and she always talks about how she had to have about 4-5 different desktop computers because each one was only able to run one specific program/software. PADDs being incredibly individual follows perfectly with this idea, when computers being able to serve more than one purpose was foreign.
PADDs also seem to represent a sort of convergent evolution, where they replace a lot of different things, such as books, personal computers, fax machines, word processors, calculators, etc, but all end up looking basically the same, because that’s the ideal/most efficient way for them to be used in star trek’s daily life. the fact that they’re all the same technology is sort of a coincidence, because they perform different functions, and likely became so similar gradually over time
my favorite weirdly low tech sci fi thing is the PADD technology in star trek, where everyone has like 30 ipads on their desk at all times bc they seemingly each represent one singular email
