Dear pro-shippers who will block me if I leave a hate comment under their post:

I'm genuinely curious. What is your age? Are you 12? Are you 13? Are you, I don't know, 14?

I just simply can't comprehend the thought of someone shipping a 40-year old with a 15-year old being over the age of 17. Don't get me wrong: pro-shipping is fucked up whether it's a kid or an adult indulging in these fantasies, but I can understand (to a certain degree) if it's a kid. Cause, you know. They're children, they don't know any better and they will probably grow out of it in a couple of years. Right now they just use underage characters as self-inserts.

But how is it even possible that there are literal adults out here writing pedo porn without a care in the world? How are they not disgusted of themselves?

"Oh, but they're not real. They're just characters" – so fucking what? Being able to see an underage character in a sexual relationship with an adult who is twice as old as them is still weird af. For me, being a pro-shipper basically means:

1. You're just a kid who has never been in a sexual relationship, therefore you simply can't realize the seriousness of the issue.

2. You're a weirdo. You have some mental health issues, and the way you view the world is extremely delusional. Or maybe you're just insanely stupid. Either this or that.

I love Laszlo's confused face when he suggests building a swimming pool, and Van Burren rejects it with a simple "I can't swim"

Like, hey, Harrison, weren't you just talking about how you want to build this whole thing for the people? Why tf should it matter that YOU can't swim?

It's a minor detail, but at the same time, it can be one of the earliest red flags that Laszlo did notice but ultimately chose to ignore

Every time I think of Michael and Michelle, I remember how uncomfortable they looked in that one dinner scene where Van Buren's clearly humiliating Laszlo right in front of them. These two are definitely aware of how cruel Harrison's jokes are: you can notice that by simply looking at their faces. They refuse to meet Laszlo's or Erzsébet's gaze and act as if they're blind since they know that openly criticizing Van Buren for what he's doing is a big risk, but you can still see how fragile their attempts to hide their true feelings are. Both Michael and Michelle must feel really bad for Laszlo since they probably know what it's like to be degraded for being Jewish (or a foreigner, basically), but they still don't stand up for him because they are generally scared of loosing their friendship with one of the most wealthy men in America. This scene alone demonstrates what a controlling and power-hungry man Van Buren is. The fact that his own best friend (Michael) doesn't do anything to protect Laszlo, who is being humiliated for their shared culture and nationality, just so he wouldn't have to go against Harrison, says enough about how Van Buren actually treats his friends and associates. This whole scene is basically Harrison showing Erzsébet that he's the one calling all the shots here, and Laszlo, her husband, is dependent on him. And that's what makes Michael's and Michelle's presence so important: it demonstrates Laszlo's family how he is completely incapable of defending himself against Van Buren and how even his friends are gonna enable Harrison's toxic behavior as long as they get to stay on his good side.

Despite it all, both Michael and Michelle seem like generally good people (aside from the fact that they ignored Harrison's weird attitude towards Laszlo), so I like to think that they at least kept in touch with Laszlo and his family after Harrison (presumably) killed himself.
