The dialogue from rescued, de-leafed castaways seems to suggest that Olimar leafling-ified them in the first place to save them. Like leafling!Olimar, even in his not-right state of mind, recognized that "humanoid" = "not long for this world" and that turning them into leaflings was really those people's only chance at survival (as was the case for Olimar).

Due to this fact, I've decided to believe that Moss joining up with Louie and participating in kidnapping-and-attempting-to-leaflingify the Koppaite trio is her thinking this is the same as when leafling!Olimar was doing it, and it's to save their lives.

That, or, Moss NEVER actually understood that any of this was to save lives, and she was simply down for violence from the start.
