"OH medusa, right! sorry elidibus, my mind's been... all over the place lately..." she doesn't want to trouble the kid any more, the feelings of the other congregation members towards her shouldn't color his perception of any of them over it, for despite their disagreements all cared for elidibus deeply. she would not bring him into this.

"you obviously feed her well! you sure you're not feeding her people?" she joked, and if he were taller she'd be elbowing his side, but she stuck with a simple air-nudge above his head and a wink.

"it did change color! the gecko liked to crawl on my mask a lot, too. when i put him down he matched the color of the grass," she can remember the gecko looking back at her, almost confused, before he scuttled away. remembering the sight she sighed fondly.

"i'm really sorry i didn't bring him to you before i let him go, though. like i said, mind's been everywhere lately. i solemnly swear, next time i bring home a reptile, i will show it to you."

she holds out her pinky.

“YEAH, that’s kinda why i picked it up,” azem’s grin turned mischievous as she chuckled darkly, “he’s gonna think it’s all ugly and say stuff like, ‘if you insist on bringing me things, must they always be so offensively dreadful?’” she lowers her voice to mock emet-selch’s, though anyone could tell it was in jest, “and then he’ll say he’s going to dispose of it immediately and then i find it in his home one day and tease him about it. it’s hilarious.”

at elidibus’ questioning about the gecko, azem seemed startled out of her scheming revelry, kicking herself for forgetting about elidibus’ love for lizards, “i’m sorry, elidibus, i wanted to show emet-selch first so nobody could warn him. then i let him go,” she sighs wistfully, “i don’t have the time to take care of something like a gecko, what with all the time i spend away from amaurot. besides, it’s nice to see creatures amongst their natural habitats. free…”

remembering that elidibus not only loved reptiles, but owned one as well, she sheepishly rubbed the back of her head, “n-not that i think owning one is inherently bad, no nothing like that! tell you what. next time, i’ll see if i can’t bring home a friend for your guy… uh… what was his name again?”

she was going to have to research caretaking whatever elidibus’ pet was extensively. but it was worth it.

     “ Her name is Medusa , and she’s a python ! ”   how could Azem , of all people , forget ? Especially when the Emissary found himself blabbing constantly about his lovable reptile whenever he had the chance to ! Medusa was also the reason why no one wished to stop by at his apartment , since the beloved snake wouldn’t show a rather friendly and assertive behavior towards whoever Elidibus considered close .   But the youth seemed to show profound adoration towards reptiles ; in knowing that Azem set it free , however , calmed his heart .

     “ You probably did the wisest choice . I remember when Medusa was only as long as my arm … but now she’s , hmm … quite long , I haven’t measured her in a while . ”   she was long enough to wrap herself around two people and keep them distant from him . Oh ,she was also the reason why Elidibus was not allowed to own any other pet , since Medusa would probably make it her snack . “ But ! Next time you find a reptile and you decide to show Emet-Selch , show me first ! I know that geckos tend to change the color of their skin depending on ecological conditions ! Has it perhaps adjusted to the color of your skin or to your robe when you held it ? ”

CAEDA sees the miqo'te bristle as she rushes to sit upright once more, and she's terrified he thought she might have died on him. the heat she felt in her cheeks seemed to dim at his words, however, for he seemed genuine, and caeda would take any kindness she could get out here. before she can respond to his offer for water, she yawns once more.

she doesn't want to seem weak, so she simply begins to speak through it, "i am simply... unused to being by myself. usually i have something to do. many, many little ones back home, you see."

another stretch, this one makes her eyes well up it felt so nice, and she flops unceremoniously in her seat once done. though she closes her eyes for a few brief seconds, suddenly she bursts upright, beaming at him, clapping her hands together as if nothing happened.

"let us both get some water! always good to be hydrated, you know!" she can still feel the allure of sleep, her lids lowering without her permission, but she tries to maintain the facade. still, a deep sigh slips out, and his words seem to finally pierce her muddled brain.

"keel... over? i'm just a bit... tired. that's all. i won't be passing out again, so don't even try to look at my cards!" she was joking but her tone was flat. gods, she really was tired, huh?

IT seems that exhaustion has finally caught up to her, she notes, sitting in the gold saucer for a much-needed respite. her entire body felt heavy, the very act of sitting up draining her beyond belief. every time she tried to focus on her triple triad deck, setting it up for the next match, she found herself zoning out, eyes glazing over, until she was snapped out of it by one of the many games in the saucer.

it was odd to actually feel tired. caeda had compartmentalized it since she was a child. taking care of moogles took a lot out of you, so you tended to need all the energy you could get. perhaps she really had been running herself ragged with all her duties, but even then she could usually get away with a nap or two.

has the stress caught up to her?

lost in thought, she blinked heavily, and couldn’t help herself as she almost drifted off, and immediately sat up when she realized she had actually fallen asleep for a few precious seconds on the person next to her. mortified, caeda stretched and hurriedly scooted away from the miqo'te.

“aha… sorry…”

     He did not much care for the Gold Saucer. While he could appreciate Godbert Manderville’s earnest attempt at bringing some light, justice, and goodwill to the Syndicate, the manner of the place was just… unappealing. Unpleasant. At least, for one such as himself, with preternatural senses ever at the brink of overexposure. The lights were too bright. The sounds were too loud. The smells were too… smelly. Sweat from the visitors and the overabearing ( at least, to him, they were overbearing… ) fragrances of the bunny maidens was much by its very definition and he could feel his head start to spin.

     He was starting to question why he had come in the first place–to babysit, he’s certain, but he’s halfway through a tall mulled drink and decided to let his charge have their run of the place. Perhaps his sloppily written report back to the Conjurer’s Guild would make them think twice before sending him to this cesspool of vice and sensory overload. A seat at the Triad Tables seemed like the best place to be, at an unmarked table next to one that was active that housed a young woman that seemed just ilms away from passing out herself.

     Rham’ir could empathize, and it’s what allows him to relax his position next to her and not stir when she very passively lays her head against his shoulder. He’s thankful his glass is situated on the table before him, for her sudden start merely seconds after making contact startled him in turn, and the fur on his tail stuck up straight along the spine. Ears up and pupils dilated, he looked to the young woman as she seemed to scoot away from him. It’s a milisecond he ponders if perhaps he had offended her in some way. He had only been there for a short while, and he wasn’t quite that deep in his cups–he didn’t smell, that he was aware of.

     But his senses could very well be addled due to the overabundance of stenches and further dulled by the alcohol already in his system.
