THE ZINE HAS BEEN UNLEASHED

It is now the eve of the one year anniversary since the The Silt Verses finale. We are so happy to announce that The Zine Of Tide And Flesh is now officially released!

It has been two weeks full of incredible creativity and community, working on this zine. Everyone has come together and come through in such spectacular fashions that we are all winded still from the response. In the past two weeks, this project borne of love has flooded the river of our hearts with it, bringing offerings along our river banks in the form of new friendships forged and wonders witnessed.

We are incredibly thankful to everyone who showed up or cheered us on from the sidelines, and of course, to everyone who kept this quiet. We have been utterly overwhelmed by the amount of people who came with us on this journey, and our hearts beam with pride for everyone who completed their projects to such amazing results.

And of course, we are also incredibly thankful to the creators of the story this is a celebration of. Jon, Muna, Méabh, B, Lucille, Jimmie and everyone who worked on this podcast that continues to tie us all together, asking us to strain and hear those pilgrims make their way along the river once more.

In this zine you will find art, writings, games and music by the most incredible people we have ever met, we look forward to seeing everyone's reactions

today i’m proudly presenting you my daughter

well technically it’s a kid of sea fairy cookie and moonlight cookie but well… i decided to make her into a creature with chinese origin, because making them into mooncake or 月饼 sounded like the most reasonable thing to do

i wanted them to resemble both of their parents and at the same time be food (cause neither of their parents are hehe) so… this is kind of how we landed at mooncake and then she was baked to life!

i intentionally made them look more like sea fairy cookie as a kid with resemblance of traditional mooncake art on their hair (hence to swirls) and more like moonlight cookie as an adult to show that both of theirs moms cherished every moment raising her and put their dough to it.

in their outfit the veil represents the waves of the sea and the gradient in her hair represents the night sky and moonlight connecting them together and forming a moonwalk, their outfit, however, represents more of who they are and themselves and this is why i intentionally made the patterns so intricate (and took a very specific reference)

even as adult they are not sure yet what kind of career they want to peruse (read as: i’m not sure about that part of the lore), but they know that the lighthouse is always waiting for them along with star coral cookie and they visit occasionally

by the way. their best friend is stardust cookie.

found an image from the movie Painted Skin on pinterest and Immediately thought of Zuko in his Firelord era, so I drew it bcs why not and damn it fits so much jsjs

I tried to play a with a little bit of a meaning to the piece, attempting to make zuko look fierce and stuff while his reflection has more of an insecure and scared expression. Y'know, typical Zuko shit.

my beloved creatures finally together side by side here here to the reunion (i bet they’ve missed each other). generally my thought process behind this was to kind of make them look at each other on a lazy morning i hope i was able to achieve this impression
