No I will not shut up about the fact that Breekon mourned his Other Half. I will not stop talking about the fact that he paused for his Other Half to finish his sentence, only to sigh in resignation as he continued to speak alone. I know we are all used to hear bad news from the USA or UK when it comes to trans rights but this time Germany wants to play in the same league.

Our idiots at home ministry came up with the fucking idea to start a register for all transgender and nonbinary people which would mean every person working at some public position could always at any given time see your assigned gender at birth, your deadname, your address and who knows what else.

We had been there in the past. Hitler Germany called it the "Travestite Law" back then. Our politicians didn't learn.

We all know this is unacceptable.

Please, if you are German, sign it. If you are not, spread it wide and far.

This had been stopped once a few years ago. It needs to be stopped again.

Reminder that you don't have to call yourself AMAB or AFAB. You don't have to say "I'm AFAB nonbinary." Saying "I'm nonbinary" is enough. You don't need to identify with what you were assigned as by some doctor however many years ago. Mentioning your ASAB is scarcely relevant to most conversations, even those about medical transitioning.

Nonbinary is enough, you don't have to supplement it with a binary system of any kind. It doesn't matter how many people want to know your "transition direction." It doesn't matter how many people want to know what your genitals are (which wouldn't be alluded to by your assigned sex anyway). It doesn't matter how many people want to binarise you. It doesn't matter how many binary people you confuse. No one needs to binarise you. Nonbinary. Is. Enough.

How to Ask for Reassurance Without Guilt

I often recommend trying some skills before because sometimes we can soothe ourselves. Things like screenshots and letters can be helpful. Or even self soothing and grounding skills. But sometimes that doesn’t work and we still need reassurance. You’re not bad for needing reassurance. You’re human. The goal isn’t to stop needing it, it’s to ask for it in a way that builds connection, not tension.

Instead of saying:

“You don’t love me, do you?”

“You’re going to leave, I know it.”

“Why didn’t you text me back right away?”

Try saying:

“I’m feeling anxious and could really use some reassurance. Could you tell me something kind?”

“Can you remind me we’re okay? My brain’s being really loud right now.”

“I’m spiraling a little. I know it’s not logical, but hearing you care would help.”

Saying these things instead is you taking ownership of your emotional state. Asking clearly, without guilt, can help the other person have the opportunity to care and not feel so trapped.

Needing reassurance doesn’t make you clingy. But demanding it or testing people can harm your connections. It can damage your relationships. You deserve reassurance and your loved ones deserve to have that communicated to them in a direct and healthy way.
