For me, censorship laws are a lot like the death penalty. There are people I wish would die, but I don't want the government to have any say over who lives or dies (because then they can stretch laws out to justify killing someone they dont like). There are stories that I think are reprehensible and should have never been written, but I don't want the government to have any say over which stories are reprehensible (because then they can stretch out what they deem wrong out to fit anything they don't like)

i might uninstall or at least try to lessen my usage of tumblr, as it has been making me very very anxious as of late.
i will still of course be keeping my eyes on the people of palestine and donating what i can.
it’s not a “”compassion fatigue”” thing- i have mainly just been having anxiety spirals about extremely specific and ultimately unimportant things (and i really do mean unimportant!! a few cases have been more serious posts but a lot have been completely not worth fretting over at all) brought about by seeing posts on this website and it is becoming detrimental to me.
i won’t delete my account and i likely will return once i’m doing a little better but for now i think i am better off with a break
thank you for understanding <3

like im sorry ive had to block multiple people in the last few months for like trying to soft launch being into incest idc if its fictional or not if you like that shit get out of my house
#redoing this bc i want to articulate my thoughts more.#i do rb posts about kink and sex positivity because i find this important.#i also believe thought crimes are not real. HOWEVER. there is some degree of responsibility you need to have#and realize when a fantasy you want to engage in is outweighed by the real harm it is tied to#pedophilia incest and race play come to mind. kink does not exist in a vacuum#and you do not get a free pass to ignore the implications or real hurt behind these things just because it’s ’only a fantasy’#fantasy as a whole does not exist in a vacuum either and we criticize it as such. being a sexual fantasy does not make it exempt#if you want to examine it and say ‘yeah im still fine with this’ i cant stop you. but i also reserve every right to avoid you if you do#which i will justifiably be doing.#bottom line clarification bc i get anxious about being misinterpreted i do not support these kinds of kinks#i cant stop anyone from liking them and i wont say people deserve to be smited for it or whatever but like#i dont trust people who see abuse and go ‘that’s hot’ sorry.

"hes doing this to distract us frm epstein!!!"
guys i think he also just loves enslaving black and brown and indigent people. i mean sure hes mad about epstein i guess but none of them need any sort of ulterior motive to expand the federal slavery program, enslaving laborers is literally its own reward

I'm gonna be real with you, i don't think weirdo kinksters should be considered acceptable collateral damage when banks/credit card companies enforce adult content bans on sites like patreon and ko-fi

INFORMATION ABOUT QUEER/ADULT CONTENT BEING DELISTED
Hey, I'm sure you've heard by now that several online retailers have blanket delisted queer/adult content. Information seems sporadic, so I want to create a masterpost of what happened, why it matters, and what you can do about it.
WHAT HAPPENED
You've probably heard that Steam and Itch.io have removed all of their adult/queer content from listings. Itch has even gone so far as to prevent creators from being able to get their payouts.
This is not Steam/Itch's fault. Mastercard and Visa have pressured them to remove their adult content. Visa and Mastercard collectively hold over 90% of the market share in payment processing. Unfortunately, if they cut you off, you pretty much lose over 90% of your gross income, which is a death sentence for basically any company.
This is also not just localized to Steam and Itch. Several anime/manga retailers have also been affected, and more companies are likely to follow. I would not be surprised if Patreon cracked down again soon, so if you have adult/queer content on there, I suggest you prepare accordingly.
The reason for this happening is not a response to the current US political climate, or these payment processors randomly deciding to force their puritanical views. It is a concerted effort by a group called Collective Shout, an anti-porn group masquerading as a feminist liberation org. (Look up the meaning of the word SWERF.)
Collective Shout has, allegedly, sent over 1,000 letters to Visa and Mastercard urging them to take action against certain digital retailers selling adult content. Which, thankfully gives us an avenue to respond. More on that in the third section.
WHY THIS MATTERS
For some of you, I don't need to explain why you should care. For others, let me explain to you why this is a massive cocern for everyone, not just adult content creators.
First of all, we've already seen perfectly sfw queer content catching strays from this. You should already be well aware that adult content and queer content are often conflated, and the two are pretty inextricably linked to each other. If you try to ban one, you will, inevitably, end up banning the other as well.
Secondly, this sets a precedent for "concerned citizens" to be able to pressure payment processors into removing whatever content they don't like from the internet. Even if you don't partake in adult content. Even if you're not queer. Even if this doesn't currently affect you or anyone you know right now, it will. They managed to do this with only 1,000 letters. If they get away with it, it'll only be the beginning.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Remember when I said they sent 1,000 letters to make this happen? I bet we can get more.
I wrote a form letter for Mastercard and for Visa. Fill in your name. Print them. Sign them. Mail them out. The addresses for the respective companies are at the top. It shouldn't cost much. Even international postage shouldn't be prohibitively expensive for most people.
Some people are sharing phone numbers and emails. That's fine, but I prefer a physical footprint. You can't see 1,000 phone calls. 1,000 emails don't take up physical volume. If you get 1,000 letters about something, you can see how much people care about it. That means something in this day and age.
IF YOU LIVE IN THE US there is a bill being introduced right now that stops payment processors from being able to control what people can and cannot purchase. Call your representatives. Right now. Even if you don't think they'll support it. Here's a script I wrote. And trust me when I say it'll help. I used to talk to politicians for a living. I know what I'm talking about.
SHARE THIS POST. Reblog it. Reblog it multiple times a day. Send it to everyone you know. Seriously. Everyone. Even if they're not on Tumblr. Get the word out. The most successful advertising is word of mouth. So use your voice and make sure people hear it. We've beaten this shit in the past and we'll do it again, but we still need to put in the work.
#worth noting that it’s important to care not just because of how it could affect queer creators. the fact that it’s affecting sex workers#is worth caring about in and of itself. sex work is real work and they deserve to have the space to sell their services and art#the same as anyone else

It literally makes me feel like I'm losing my mind that almost no one in the global north on here will speak about, or even react to, the fact that the US is literally funding Israeli owned death traps for starving families.
The United States and Israel have made it impossible for all actual aid to enter Gaza. Then, private contractors from the United States created the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), with Israeli support, to "take over" aid distribution. They are preventing aid distribution by all humanitarian groups in Gaza that distribute aid in coordination with the U.N., and replacing them with GHF. These GHF sites are set up in collaboration with Israeli military to lure in starving families and gun them down.

"men don't need to be afraid walking around at night"
Unless they're black
"men make more than women in jobs"
Black men make less than white women on average
"men don't get followed around by people who mean them harm"
Black men are heavily policed and regularly jumped and killed for just walking down the street
"no one tells a man what he can and cannot do with his own body"
Black men are repeatedly assaulted and have their hair forcibly shaved or cut for wearing their hair natural and in culturally important styles. Black men who choose body modifications like tattoos or piercings are branded as thugs. Black men who have children and black men who don't have children are both regarded as players, hounddogs, absent fathers, and baby daddies, as if the logical answer is that no one's first choice of partner and father of their children would ever be a black man.
"no one judges a man's worth based on his clothes"/"a man isn't ever in danger no matter what he wears"
Black men are required to look presentable and professional according to eurocentric standards, push themselves into clothes not made for their bodies, and be highly uncomfortable in their daily lives or else risk 'fitting the profile' or 'matching the description' and getting detained by police AT BEST for the crime of existing in public. Black men wearing comfortable clothes are seen as sloppy, thugs, gangsters, street rats, hood and ghetto.
"no man fears rape"
The rape and sexual assault of black men ties directly to black buck stereotypes and black fetishization to the point where liking a black person or having your dating pool be open to black people is treated like a sexuality much like being gay. People are both threatened by and aroused by our bodies and that leads them to perform extreme acts of violence on us, including rape, SA, coercion, trafficking, and more. Much like how "tranny" and "lesbian" is a porn category, so is Big Black Cock. Sometimes with us featured as the rapist. Sometimes with us featured as the victim. Almost never with us featured as intimate, passionate, loving, tender. Black men are either to be feared and reviled, or to be broken and forced to submit. Direct ties to slavery with white people still getting off to our suffering.
Just say you don't care as much about black people's suffering and go, jesus.
I have privilege because I sometimes pass as a man? Try walking in my shoes for a while. Turns out being a black man vs being a black woman isn't always so different.

This is not passive aggressive racism. This is not a micro aggression. These are real words that are going to cause real harm to us.
After all we’ve been through, we are still here. We are still here and one day the veil is going to fall and she’s going to see what happens to Nazis like herself.

The thing that separates "alligator alcatraz" from other detainment centers is the pride being taken in it, the openness about what's going to happen there, the merch. The actual interior of the building and the conditions under which detainees will suffer are not different than other ICE detention facilities
The escalation represented by alligator Alcatraz isn't an escalation in the abuse, its an escalation in the scale at which the abuse is inflicted and in the sense of safety fascists feel when openly celebrating the abuse being inflicted

hi trans people in my phone. The life expectancy of trans people is not 35. That is the average age of Brazilian transmisogyny affected murder victims, taken from crime data from the early 2010s. Brazilian trans women also usually live longer than 35 years; this data comes solely from the subset of trans women who are murdered, and does not account for the majority of Brazilian trans women. Murder victim age averages are not a good proxy for overall life expectancy even of the same demographic group. Take a deep breath. You have a future. Start planning for it.

Seeing as how the Big Beautiful Bill just passed, here's are some websites that offer discounts on medications:
- GoodRx
- SingleCare
- Pharmacy Checker
- WellRx - this one compares prices across different pharmacies
- Cost Plus - thanks to @thedamnqueenofhell for suggesting!
Stay safe, everyone. Things are about to get much, much worse in the US.
EDIT: if you're worried about doctor/therapy appointments, see if there's a sliding scale clinic near you (and ask your therapist if they offer sliding scale prices)
