malia was still attempting to find her footing in this new, strange place. one minute she was traveling back to beacon hills. next, she was in the heart of new orleans. she had barely found a place to stay that was not the bottom of the tree ( even though nothing beat sleeping underneath a tree ). now, the werecoyote was scouting the place ; stumbling into a local place where a blonde appeared to be suffering. melissa was born to two immigrant parents from mexico. they crossed the border to give a baby melissa a better future. both of her parents worked in the fields long, tiring hours. they had a baby boy four years after arriving in the united states. slowly but surely, they started to build a beautiful life and the american dream. melissa was raised to be a kind and brave girl ; always looking up to her parents that gave everything for their two kids. however, because her parents worked long and sometimes multiple jobs, melissa was left to be responsible for herself from a young age. she was the perfect kid all the way through high school. being one of the few latinos' to be in AP classes ; graduating top of her class.

upon graduating, she did meet rafael who went on to become scott dad. the rest of her history i am keeping canon. you can find more information about her here.

the collision of worlds has left melissa more confused than ever, but having a son as a werewolf has taught her anything is to not panic. she's gotten a job at the local hospital and she has been doing more research on the supernatural world ; reading up on old and new myths, and has been fascinated by the witches of new orleans.

malia's backstory is going to remain canon all the way through season 5. After stealing all her mothers power, malia went on to graduate high school. her actually getting to graduate high school was a big thing. It was her first "normal" achievement. despite having reluctant feelings towards going to college, she did it anyways. managing to get into the community college. for two years she was able to live out the college lifestyle, but soon realized that it was not for her. malia did not wait to even be handed her diploma before packing her bags and backpacking through mexico and the united states. she had always felt a strong connection to being out in the wilderness ; being carefree and wild. while she did manage to explore majority of the united states and mexico, there has always been one place she's wanted to visit: france.

she's was on her way back, looking for her pack, when the collision of worlds happened. she's not quite sure what is going on, but in the meantime she's working as a bartender. this way she is saving up money for her trip to france and attempting to find out more about this new town of new orleans.

kai was trapped in the prison world for a couple years. he was still there when the collision happened. this event caused a door to open, and kai did not hesitate to use this opportunity to cross over. much to his surprise, he landed right in new orleans.

now that he is back, he is finding out that he still struggles with the urges of vampirism.
