New thing I'm noticing is Lorelei being horrible to people who are just trying to do their jobs when she thinks it's funny

Season 2. Bette is still being shitty. I do think she's a compelling character but she's horrible to Tina. Tina also immediately let's Helena take over her life and choices so clearly she is drawn a specific dynamic. Basically everyone is transphobic. Shane is the only one from the core group who isn't incredibly judgemental. When I first watched this it was just before I started having sex and I thought their depiction of vanilla lesbian sex would have something to do with my sex life and it really truly hasn't at all. Shane and Jenny are the only people (from the core group) who feel like I could come across them in the queer spaces I'm in. I'm already dreading what they'll do with the writing for Jenny.
Rewatching the l word after a decade and I did not remember how shitty Bette is to Tina

Compared to everyone else's results I'm kinda low on everyone. Which honestly checks out. I think I'd score higher on Tara and Anya. Even though Buffy is my fave I don't actually think I'm much like her but really wish Angel was lowest

Did you watch Once Bitten (1985) with Jim Carrey when you were watching your vampire movies?
that one really ended up being an early favorite of mine
No, I tend to be less drawn to comedy. But I've put it on my to watch list. It looks fun. Every time I go down a movie rabbit hole I realize there's just endless movies to watch.

I also started trying to watch all the Vampire movies a few years ago. Watched a lot in a short time and slowly continuing since. Currently at 92 movies according to letterboxd but I'm probably missing some from before I started logging them. I'm also in a Vampire movie watch group where we meet up about once a month to watch two vampire movies. I have some recommendations of less well known Vampire films.
Vampire time travelers is this 90s very low budget movie about joining a sorority, vampires and time travel and in my opinion it has a similar tone to what we do in the shadows.
Rockula is a musical and it's a good, fun Halloween watch.
Love bites (the gay one from 1988) feels like it's about to be porn the entire time but it's just this wholesome gay love story and it's great. No straight people exist in this.
La Morsure is a coming of age film with great vibes, characters I cared about and a depiction of sexuality that I appreciated.
Red lips is for people who are horny about blood and lesbian vampires. A good amount of the runtime is vampire kills shot like sex scenes and a lot of the rest is a lesbian love story. Quite funny at times. It's a bit problematic and was very obviously made with no budget but overall I'm here for it.
Lisztomania admittedly has very little vampirism in it but Richard Wagner is a Vampire and it is peak 70s camp musical.
Embrace of the Vampire is the best horny Vampire movie. It commits so hard and so unashamed and sincerely. To the aesthetics, to doing "too much" at all times, to the character archetypes, to being a horny vampire movie. Everyone characters motivation is being horny. The main character is a catholic virgin who was raised by nuns, about to turn 18 and only wears white in the beginning. The movie works really well as a thematic exploration of both fears and repression and also the real possible dangers surrounding sexual desires and the eroticism of those dangers and fears with the Vampire working as a symbolic stand in. But also it's just a fun movie with so many iconic moments that commits to the fantasy and gets suddenly queer after half the runtime.
I honestly don't remember that much about blood bath (1966) but I rated it highly and want to rewatch it. It's only an hour long.
Mondo Weirdo is also only an hour long and is actually pornographic. The plot could be fully summed up in a sentence and I do like it but it's mostly a vibe. And I vibed with it. My mind is also full of violent, horny and vampiric fantasys. And a rare film to have straight, lesbian and gay guy hardcore sex scenes in the same movie. As a queer pervert with intrusive thoughts this movie gets me.
Always happy to talk about vampire movies and both get and share recommendations. And would love to talk about any of the ones I've mentioned if anyone's seen them. Even if you fully disagree with me. Same goes for the more well known ones too.
Ooh wait fav horror movies from the 1920s on.... what are ur earliest favorite horror movies
Omg someone actually cares?? gods bless you 🖤🖤🖤
Obviously Nosferatu 1922 and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari 1920 are the best known ones (and for good reason) but I need you to imagine watching The Phantom of the Opera 1925 in an actual theatre with a live pipe organ playing in the pit…….that was my first experience watching that film and I’ve never been the same since
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 1920 (John Barrymore version) is a tremendous example of early horror acting and how much someone can change their demeanor physically without any sort of real special effects
The Phantom Carriage 1921 is a great New Year’s Eve watch, which is a rare thing!
Vampyr 1932 is practically a silent film so I’m lumping it in with these, even though it’s much later and does have a small amount of dialogue. It’s such a dreamy film and is based off of a story by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu
I’m a big Universal Monsters girlie (hello Phantom) but most of their films are past the 20s so I won’t go into them all BUT if anyone hasn’t seen Dracula’s Daughter 1936 it is an unsung hero and essential queer horror viewing, especially if you’re an IWTV fan
These are just some of my favorites that really exemplify early early early horror but I will stop here for now because idk much detail you want lmao, thank you so much for asking tho 🖤

Some pictures from my first hook suspension at the end of last year. It was beautiful. It felt great. It was important for me to end the year, that was in large part defined by a relationship deteriorating and a breakup, having an intense and meaningful experience with myself and my own body. It grounded me and opened my mind to new thought processes afterwards. Facilitated by the wonderful Luna Duran 💜 @bookofluna on social media ✨ www.lunaduran.com
