Posting this because I’m seriously tired of people thinking fanfiction authors are machines that pop out stories for your enjoyment. No, you can’t just go to Settings and adjust our update times to your liking, that’s not how it works. We’re human too.

Kentas stared at the small machine M-21 had handed to him. He turned it over a few times; one side was a shiny black surface and the rest a lighter grey with several buttons on the sides. What was it?

“It’s a phone.”

Kentas stared at the ‘phone’. The name didn’t really say much about its intended purpose, so Kentas still had no idea what the machine was used for or why M-21 had given it to him.

A quick glance at M-21’s face—narrowed eyes, pursed lips, head tilted just slightly to the side—told Kentas that M-21 probably expected him to know what a ‘phone’ was.

He cleared his throat and glanced between the ‘phone’ and M-21 again. Just as he opened his mouth to ask—

“You don’t know what a phone is.” M-21’s face had smoothed out into a blank mask—unreadable.

“No.” No point in beating around the bush, really.

M-21 sighed and rubbed a hand across his face. He glanced off in the distance, clearly gathering his thoughts.

“It’s a device used for communication. Primarily, anyway. It has a lot of secondary functions, but I’m giving it to you so that I—and everyone else—can easily get a hold of you, and vice versa.”

Huh, made sense. Kentas nodded slightly, both to show that he understood and in contemplation. This type of communication wasn’t something he knew much about; when he wanted to get a hold of the other werewolves, he had just gone to see them. Clearly, this ‘phone’ was a shortcut.

“How does it work?”

As M-21 stepped closer and started to explain the functions of the phone, Kentas caught a whiff of his scent: a mix of both human and werewolf—quite unlike any Kentas had ever known before—much like the man himself.

“Are you listening?”

“Yes.”

Kentas smiled. While he would always miss his clan—as it were before everything fell apart at any rate—he could really get used to this.

“Unless you are following the dialogue with an action and not a dialogue tag.” He took a deep breath and sat back down after making the clarifying statement.

*gross sobbing*

“Well, fuck.”

“Opposites attract” should be reserved for like “she’s messy and he’s neat!” Not like “she’s supportive and he’s a soul-sucking toxic person!”

Trioships! :D “Hey, I’m with you, okay? Always.” “It could be worse.”“We’re in the middle of a thunderstorm and you wanna stop and feel the rain?” “I can’t believe you talked me into this.”“It’s not what it looks like…” Any one is fine, I just threw a bunch in so you'd have a choice to pick from, haha. Though together they're getting an interesting narrative going, pfft.

”It could be worse!”

M-21 and Takeo both stopped and stared at Tao, incredulity written all over their faces—in their wide eyes, raised eyebrows and open mouths with downturned lips.

“What? It could be!” Tao said defensively, a slight pout making its way across his face.

M-21 pinched the bridge of his nose and gritted his teeth; the chains around his wrists jangled loudly.

“How could it possibly be worse? We don’t know where we are, you’re both injured and bleeding and I’m wrapped in heavy chains that none of us can break. The chains limits my ability to move, which slows me down. Your wounds slow you down, and we probably have a horde of enemies trying to find us. We have no way of getting help and, again, we don’t know where we are! How could it be worse?!”

The was a pregnant pause.

“Well… At least it’s not raining?”

M-21 closed his eyes and turned his face to the sky as if begging for patience.

“Let’s just keep moving. Standing still in a defenceless location is a very bad idea considering our circumstances,” Takeo said and made a waving motion forwards with one hand.

M-21 let out an ugly snort and started walking, the other two quickly following.

“I still think it could be worse,” Tao mumbled and crossed his arms over his chest.

When it started raining about thirty minutes later no one said anything, but M-21 shot Tao a look that could only be described as “livid”.

Tao flopped down on the bed—right on top of M-21 and Takeo—and buried his face in his pillow.

Some seconds of flailing, twisting and grunting later, all three of them were curled together and comfortable.

“See?” Tao mumbled a few moments before they dropped off into sleep. “It could have been so much worse. We made it out alive, so it definitely could have been worse!”

M-21 snorted, but ruffled Tao’s hair affectionately, and Takeo laughed gently.

Fair enough, it could have been worse.

“We’re in the middle of a thunderstorm and you wanna stop and feel the rain?”

“I’ve seen the way you look at me when you think I don’t notice.”

“Just once.”

“You’re the only one I trust to do this.”

“I can’t believe you talked me into this.”

“I got you a present.”

“I’m pregnant.”

“Marry me?”

“I thought you were dead.”
