MysmeFictober Day 3
October 3, 2024 <Arts & Crafts>
Yoosung laughed at the sight of Saeran at the crafts table they had set up for the kids. There was glitter in his hair and across his cheek. Mint green eyes met his amethyst ones, fine lines crinkling around the edges of his husband. Yoosung ran a hand through his deep brown hair, having stopped dying it blond several years before.
“Something funny?” Saeran asked, eyebrow raised as he tried to glue some popsicle sticks together.
“Papa, that’s not how you do it, it has to be a twiangle.” Ki corrected her father.
“Oh.” Saeran lowered his head, red hair falling like a curtain, and followed his daughter’s directions.
Saeyoung’s creation was enormous and while it had begun like a motley gluing of sticks, was clearly becoming a sitting cat. He lost himself in childish abandon and his sons were enthralled with their father’s building acumen.
MC busied herself with trying to keep the disaster around the table as much as possible, but it was a losing battle as glitter and glue seemed to have permeated further. Yoosung just shook his head and set the tray of drinks he had brought in the center of the table. Ki immediately reached for her Hello Kitty cup, sticky fingers leaving glitter, glue, and felt particles all over it.
As he sat next to his daughter, Saeran on the other side of her, he marveled at how his life had turned out. He was married to the love of his life and the past three years, since having adopted their little angel, things had only gotten better. In fact, he was hoping to begin a conversation with Saeran about adopting another child, he was getting baby fever.
Sure, things weren’t always sunshine and rainbows, Saeran still had depressive episodes, and Yoosung could be weighed down with his own stresses and worries. Harsh words could and would be said, but at the end of the day, they worked through it all together and his love only grew by the day. He watched his husband be the best girl dad in the world and his heart swelled with affection for them both. Taking in Saeyoung, MC and their twins only made things more wonderous. His little family was his rock and he cherished them all.
Saeran reached behind their daughter’s back and grasped his arm affectionatly. A radiant smile crossed his lips and Yoosung’s heart beat a little faster. That smile was magic, and he hoped that it would always make him feel that flutter.
“Deep in thought again?” Saeran asked.
“Just thankful for all we have.” Yoosung answered.
“Me too.” Saeran said with a wink.
“And me!” Saeyoung bellowed as he triumphantly put the last piece on his cat. “What do you think boys?”
The twins gave each other a knowing look before rising and promptly demolishing the kitty to bits in gleeful exuberance.
Ki’s eyes widened as she saw the beautiful structure disintegrate. Saeyoung’s jaw dropped, watching his sons destroy his creation, unable to move.
“B…b…but why?” he asked quietly.
“Do it again daddy! I bet you can’t make another one faster! Mommy, mommy, time daddy!” One of the five-year-olds said.
A gleam came into Saeyoung’s eyes at the thought of the new challenge.

MYSME FICTOBER DAY 8/JUMIN WEEK DAY 4
@mysme-fictober & @juminweek2019
Michael's Edition
8 October 2023—BOO! Jumin Week—Acts of Service
Jumin held the phone between his shoulder and cheek, trying not to let it slip.
“Just…I don’t…ahh…” the phone fell to the carpeted floor. He picked it up in frustration, letting go of the fake spiderweb he had been trying to stretch across the bookcase. “This is ridiculous, why did I even think I could do this?”
“Settle down Jumin, you can. Also, what was that muffled sound? What are you doing exactly?” Saeyoung asked through the phone speaker.
“Trying to pull apart this stupid web while still listening to you. I only have two hands you know.” He said.
“Uh, you know you can put the phone on speaker right?” Saeyoung joked.
“Oh, right.” He felt like an idiot. Hitting the speaker button on the phone he set it down on a side table. “OK well, what do I do after I finish with the web?” he asked.
“Change out the bulbs in some of the lamps, you got the purple bulbs right?”
“Yes, I bought everything on the list you sent me.”
“Really? Wow, you really are going all out aren’t you?”
“It’s Lillie’s favorite holiday, so I want to make it special, and I don’t want her to lift a finger this year, I just want her to enjoy it for the entire month.”
“You could have just paid someone to do it, you’re filthy rich after all.” Saeyoung laughed.
“That wouldn’t be the same. I want to do the work and see the look on her face.” He was aware that it likely would look much better if he hired someone to decorate, but, he knew Lillie well enough to know that she would love it all the more because of his effort. Though he hadn’t thought he would be fighting with fake spiderwebs.
“I think I can handle placing the items in an aesthetically pleasing arrangement, however, I might need help again in setting up the fog machine for the cauldron.”
“Sure, I’m here all day! Sounds like you have things well in hand.”
“Indeed, if I require more hands, I’ll simply ask my security team. Thank you again Saeyoung for the support and suggestions.”
“Any time! Make sure you take pic…uh, that Lillie takes pictures!” he laughed.
Jumin grunted as he hit end call on the phone. He’d gotten better at taking pictures, it wasn’t his fault that the stabilization on his phone was finicky.
He was meticulous in his arrangement of the décor, not a single surface was without a Halloween item. With Saeyoung’s help, he’d even been able to create an actual bubbling cauldron that wouldn’t create and environmental hazard in the apartment.
Hours, he had been working for hours and the setting sun outside reminded him that Lillie was due to arrive home soon. He checked his watch and saw that he had only minutes. He turned off any lights whose bulbs hadn’t been changed, turned on the cauldron, and lit the candles. Fairy lights were strung throughout the decorations giving the areas a ethereal quality. The scent of pumpkin spice and apple cider wafted through the room as well. Satisfied, all that was left to do was wait.
It didn’t take long before he heard the rattle of the front door, hiding behind it as it opened inwards he held his breath for his love’s reaction.
He heard Lillie inhale as the scenery caught her attention. She took a few steps inside, her head scanning the entirety of his labor. Quickly he slammed the door closed and jumped at her with a loud “BOO!”
Lillie screamed and turned, her hand already balled into a fist before noticing that it was her beloved.
“Jumin! You scared me!” heart racing she doubled over in relieved laughter.
“I’m sorry my love, I couldn’t help myself.” He enveloped her into his arms and held her close as her heart regained equilibrium. “Do you like it?” he asked as he released her.
“Like it? I love it! How much did it cost to do this? You know I would have decorated myself.” She said, but her smile never left her face.
“Oh, well, the cost was only in supplies, I decorated.” Jumin said, running a hand through his thick black hair, a grin on his face. “Took several hours, but it was well worth it to see your reaction.”
“You…you did this? All by yourself?” she asked, turning to her husband, golden brown eyes wide.
“Saeyoung helped with some of the more intricate items, but I set it all up on my own. I just wanted to surprise you. I know how much you love this holiday and how hard you worked last year. I wanted you to just be able to enjoy the season this year and concentrate only on your costume for the party.”
“Party?”
“Absolutely, I think having a Halloween party here would be quite entertaining, don’t you?”
“Oh yes! That sounds wonderful!” Lillie threw herself on her husband and held him close, tears of joy filled her eyes and a wide smile plastered her face. “I can’t imagine being any happier than I am right now! Just…I…the thought and effort you put into all of this has me in tears. I love you so much Jumin.”
“I love you too. And I would do anything to see that radiant smile on your face for the rest of our lives.”
They kissed.

MYSME FICTOBER DAY 2
@mysme-fictober
Michael's Edition
2 October 2023—TOAD
“Shut up!” Yoosung threw his pillow towards the window knowing full well it did no good.
“Wha…what’s wrong?” Saeran turned towards his boyfriend in groggy confusion.
“That stupid toad!” Yoosung ran his fingers aggressively through his blond hair, resisting desperately his desire to yank his golden strands in frustration. “It’s been a week! I can’t get any sleep!” he swung his feet off the bed and stomped towards the window, throwing it open. The sound was louder and harsher.
Saeran sighed and left the warm and comfort of the bed as well. He yawned and stretched as he walked towards the younger man, setting his hand on his shoulder. “Come back to bed.” He whispered and kissed his neck.
“How can you sleep with this racket?”
“Just ignore it.”
“Ignore it? How? I’m going to find you, you little shit! And I’m going to squish you!” he yelled out of the window.
The toad croaked loudly as if calling his bluff. In fact, a cacofally exploded, as if it called in its friends to serenade the irritated blond. Saeran couldn’t help it and he let out a laugh.
“E tu Brute?” Yoosung scowled as he turned towards the red-head.
“I’m sorry, but that sounded planned! And I just got an image in my head of a toad in the center of other toads as they discussed how to annoy you the most.” He couldn’t stop laughing.
“I hate you.” Yoosung snarled as he grabbed his pillow and a blanket.
“Where are you going?” Saeran asked, closing the window and curtains tight.
“In the living room! Maybe I won’t be able to hear them in there. Good night!”
“Come on babe! Just put some music on, or your earplugs. Don’t leave me in this cold bed alone!” he pleaded.
Yoosung just waved at him as he walked out the bedroom door.
“Damn it!” Saeran frowned, glaring at the window as the chorus of toads continued their midnight concert.
In his bedroom, Saeyoung, Saeran’s twin and all around prankster, slept soundly, a soft smile on his face as he dreamed about the tiny speakers he’d set up outside of Saeran and Yoosung’s bedroom after Yoosung had complained about a single night of a toad keeping him awake.

MYSME FICTOBER DAY 1
@mysme-fictober
Michael's edition
1 October 2023—GHOST
He wrinkled his nose as the wine touched his lips. Warm. Had he really been sitting here long enough for it to no longer be cool. With a sigh he set the glass down and rubbed at his temples. Standing he stretched his long legs and ran a long-fingered hand through his short dark hair. A glance towards the glass with storm grey eyes had him rethinking picking it up. With a sigh he did and swallowed what remained. No sense letting it go to waste.
Making his way to the kitchen he had to slow down, feeling the effects of the alcohol finally. Outside his home it thundered, the rain tattooing a discordant melody all around him. He stopped midway, eyes on the floor, grazing his stockinged feet. Slowly and with great hesitation, his eyes made their way to the portrait hung prominently on the wall. His normally vibrant eyes darkened as tears welled up. Pain struck him in the chest with the deafening beating of his heart.
There he stood, behind his late wife Lillie and their son. The boy was no more than six in the portrait, he was now a young man in his prime, away at University. He had taken after his wife in features and coloring. His auburn hair being the envy of many. It was often difficult to look at his son, seeing his wife’s eyes reflected back at him. In the last year they had seen each other only twice. At the funeral, and for Christmas. The boy had a life of his own after all. Jumin was happy for him, but he also thought that the reason he didn’t see him more was because it was too hard for him to see his father so sad.
An unbelievable amount of people thought a year was long enough to grieve, so now he spent much of his time alone with his own thoughts. He finally let himself gaze upon his wife. Certainly, since the portrait was taken, she had thickened around the middle, etched some fine lines around her face, even grown a few grey hairs, just as he had. But she had always been beautiful in his eyes. Her honey brown eyes stared back at him, that kind and benevolent smile radiant on her face. He remembered what it felt like to run his fingers through her thick hair, and the smell of her shampoo. She rarely wore perfume, but the smell of her hair lingered on the pillow, the sheets, her clothing, and in the air if she had recently been there.
His body broke into shuddering cries as the thunder and lighting continued to roar. It was as if the world grieved with him. The wind howling and destructive as if his insides tore through the countryside. He dropped to his knees, the glass shattering on the wood floor.
“Jumin.” The whisper carried in the wind, fluttering and disjointed. “J…u…m…i…n…” the elongated syllables hung in the air, surrounding his broken body.
He blinked and startled as the scent of Lillie’s hair wafted across his nose. Rising to his feet quickly he turned, unsure of what was happening. Had he finally lost his mind?
A loud clap of tunder sounded directly above his head as lightning flashed through the windows as if paparazzi stood outside with flashing bulbs. It startled him and he wrapped his arms around his head, a soft whine escaping his mouth.
“Jumin…”
“Stop! Please! No!” he stammered, choking back more sobs.
“My love.” Lillie’s voice was soft and soothing. Just the way she sounded when she was about to scold him for something.
“L…Lillie?” he dropped his arms and turned towards the voice. In the hallway stood his wife. He knew she wasn’t really there, she was dead. Dead and gone, never to return. But there, there she was anyway, all he had to do was reach out and touch her. She looked healthy, not at all the emaciated thing she had become as the disease ate her from the inside out. He had wasted no money on finding someone, somewhere to help her. But cancer didn’t care about money.
She smiled at him and held her arms open. He stepped into those welcome arms, unaware of the glass pressing through his socks and into his skin. Blood trailed as he took several steps, but he was beyond physical pain. She wrapped her arms around him, and he buried his head into her soft bosom. He missed the feel of her. Her perspective on anything and everything. She was his rock, his sounding board, his conscience. He loved her and he missed her.
“My love, you have so much more life to live. Don’t shut yourself away like this.” She cooed into his hair, her fingers tangled in the strands.
“I miss you so much. How…how can I go on?” he sobbed.
“You must. I know you loved me, I felt it every single day. You know what it is to love and be loved. Those who care about you are worried. Our son is worried. You must be strong my love. Not only for you, but for me and everything I will now miss. You must be there for our son, for our grandchildren, if there will be any, for our friends and family. You have grieved alone too long. You need to start living, even if it hurts.”
“I…I can’t! I don’t want to! I want to be with you! Take me with you!” he pleaded.
“It’s not your time. Don’t let it run out like this. Live! Live my love! Live!” he voice was stern but kind as it faded into nothing, as did she.
“NO!” Jumin screamed and dropped to his hands and knees. “NO!” he slammed his fists into the floor with force. He collapsed as the storm continued to rage outside. Once his body was spent of tears he sighed and took several deep breaths.
Live? Could he? Without her at his side? He thought about her words, about how much time he still had to live, about his son and his future. Yes, life was for the living. He would hold onto that small straw.

MYSME-FICTOBER 21 OCT ‘22
Halloween cute or scary
October 31st 2022
Saeran sighed as he walked into Yoosung’s apartment. He’d decorated for Halloween at the beginning of the month, adding to it almost daily. It would have been fine except that Yoosung’s idea of decorating was adding the cutest things he could find. Adorable cats, cute witches, smiling pumpkins, and bats with big round eyes. Decorations at Saeyoung’s were a lot scarier and spooky, spiders everywhere, ghosts, ghouls, green witches with the biggest warts, and skeletons that might pop out at you when you least expected it. The contrast was sometimes jarring going from one to the other.
“You’re here!” Yoosung hugged his boyfriend and pulled him in, giving him a short peck on the lips, then he was off to the small kitchenette where there seemed a lot of activity was happening.
“Yeah…uh…how many people are coming over tonight?” Saeran asked. He ran a hand through his reddish hair nervously. He’d thought they would be spending the night alone just watching Halloween movies. Cute ones of course.
“Just you and me. I know, I went overboard. But you can take some back to Saeyoung and MC.” Yoosung laughed, his amethyst eyes full of anticipation. “Can you put this tray on the coffee table?“ he asked and pushed a tray full of finger foods like pigs in a blanket, pinwheels, zombie and witch fingers, and a couple of dips. Yoosung picked up another tray full of fruit and a coconut fruit dip.
They set them down and Saeran noted that there was already another full tray of triangle sandwiches, cheese, egg salad, and tuna. There was also a bucket on the floor that had soft drinks and some beers. He knew the beers were for him, Yoosung tried not to drink alcohol since he was such a lightweight.
“Ok, I think I’ve got everything.” The blond set down another tray with Halloween cookies and pastries shaped like pumpkins. “Oh, let me turn the lights down. You can start the movie it’s already queued up. And just to let you know. We’ll probably get some trick-or-treaters. That’s why I got some candy.”
Saeran hadn’t even noticed the cauldron next to the door full of candy.
“Trick-or-Treaters? You sure? In this building?” Saeran raised an eyebrow, mint green eyes unbelieving.
“There are a few kids that live here. And sometimes kids from other places come by too.” Yoosung shrugged as he took a seat.
“Hmm.”
“What’s wrong?” Yoosung asked.
“It’s just…I thought it would just be the two of us, you know, kind of romantic and all.” Saeran said with a frown.
“Don’t worry, we have all night to be together. After a couple of hours, I’m all yours.” He said and gave him a long and soft kiss. Saeran sighed and relaxed. “This will be a great Halloween for us. And maybe next year I can talk you into dressing up with me.” He grinned.
“Maybe, Saeyoung’s already talking about having a Halloween party next year. Another holiday we were never able to celebrate that he wants to change.” The thought actually excited him. There was so much that they had missed growing up, and even into their teenage and young adult years. He knew he was still too raw to make that kind of commitment though and a nice quiet evening with his new boyfriend was much preferable.
Yoosung was already snuggled under his arm and the warmth that came from him was soothing.
“Sounds fun. We have a whole year to think about a couple’s costume.” He said.
Saeran grinned and settled into the sofa, the hand on his thigh sending a thrill through him. Maybe tonight they’d be able to have a nice long make out session. He knew Yoosung wasn’t ready for more, but that was OK. Slow was definitely better for him as well.
No sooner had the thought popped into his mind than the doorbell rang and Yoosung sprang off the sofa. With a sigh Saeran let him go. But as the younger man had said, they had all night and in fact, they had the rest of their lives.

Mysme-fictober Day 6 - Scary Stories

Rika/cmc Chaewon Lee (Reiko)
Uhhh so I'm not sure if this piece actually fits the promt much, cause I got swept away into a completely different direction, but since I was originally writing for it, I'll post it anyway ':D
Mysme-fictober promts belong to @mysme-fictober!
With a heavy sigh, Reiko slowly took a small sip from her china cup, tapping her foot in a somewhat nervous rhythm under the carefully decorated table. The air was fragrant with a fresh smell of grapefruit tea along with an assortment of desserts in all shapes and sizes that were laid out on the neatly packed table.
“Savior, are you sure that holding this party is really a good idea…? It's quite risky to gather all the believers in one hall where practically anything can happen. At least you don't have to be personally involved, right?"
The golden-haired woman sitting across from her merely playfully rolled her eyes at her partner, reaching out across the table to gently tuck a lock of white hair behind her ear. Her touch was as light as a feather, making Reiko involuntary shiver, even from such a fleeting contact.
"Reiko, you don't need to address me so formally when we're behind closed doors, you know that. And nothing will happen. We'll make sure of that." Rika stated, not breaking their eye contact not even for a second. She was confident in her decision, and there was no point in trying to dispute it.
Reiko huffed, crossing her arms across her chest and leaning back into her chair. She was definitely not convinced quite yet. Still, it's not like she could outright forbid her Saviour from doing whatever she wanted to do. While she was much closer to the leader of Mint Eye than most other believers will ever get the chance to experience, that did nothing to change the obvious difference in their statuses. She had to obey Rika, whether she wanted to or not.
Then again, she's just acting paranoid right now, she knew that.
"I just don't get the appeal of this whole 'partying' thing. We can do just fine without it. What if something does happen and we won't be able to act quickly enough? It's hard to monitor the situation in a huge crowd of people." She mumbled, casting her eye to the side and chewing on the inside of her cheek absentmindedly.
Rika pursed her lips, gently cupping the other woman's cheek and caressing it with her thumb to regain her attention.
"You're worried about me, aren't you? I'm flattered. However, trust me when I say that everything will turn out just fine. Even if something does happen, we'll have both you and Ray on standby the whole time. We won't let things get out of control."
Reiko grumbled, albeit leaning into the soft touch and closing her eye for a short fleeting moment. This was a rare gesture coming from her, considering how concerned she was about her surroundings throughout almost every minute of the day. Letting her guard down like that was something she hardly ever did for anyone. "Yeah, that is, if he won't spend the entire time ogling his assistant. Which I am not confident in whatsoever, by the way."
She could hear Rika stifle a brief giggle, which made a wave of ticklish warmth flood her cheeks without any warning beforehand, and she was completely unable to stop this from happening. She hardly ever laughed genuinely at this place, not ever since she became the Savior they all needed. To think that she was the reason for her sincere smile even briefly returning onto her lovely face once more...
It was... nice. Like everything was back to how it was once before. Like she was... happy. However, that selfish thought was merely a fleeting mirage, one that Reiko quickly brushed away without even thinking twice about it. She couldn't allow herself to think like Chaewon once did. At least, not inside the tall walls of Magenta... She was Reiko now, and she needed to act accordingly.
A gentle honey-like voice reached her ears through the fog of her grim thoughts, making her involuntary tune in with all of her senses. Rika always did have this effect on her... Some things just never change.
"Oh come now, my dear Reiko. As long as he stays loyal to our cause, and to me, there's nothing bad about being infatuated with someone. Natasha is quite a beauty, after all. But, while her beauty is charming, she has no power over him. She's too softhearted to act with enough force needed to bend him to her wishes. She'll keep to the shadows, too afraid to claim something as her own. That's the crack of her dilemma. She longs for something oh so desperately, yet lacks the courage needed to achieve it. She's perfect for Ray."
A somewhat ominous silence suddenly hung between them, as the hidden implications of Rika's words seeped into the previously tranquil atmosphere. They both knew exactly what she was talking about in gruesome detail. Still, this tense moment passed swiftly, as the blonde woman smiled once more and lifted the small cup filled with warm grapefruit tea to her lips with pristine elegance in her smooth movements. Reiko couldn't help but watch her every move, captivated by her almost otherworldly beauty.
Placing the cup onto her plate once more, the Savoir placed her chin on the palm of her hand. "Speaking of which, what will you be wearing to our upcoming Halloween ball?"
Reiko shifted in her seat uncomfortably, suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed to admit her weakness out loud. But, with how intently Rika was gazing seemingly into her very soul, it'll be practically impossible to hide even the smallest of details from her. She always was an expert at reading people, after all.
So, she gave in, quickly glancing at the ground and praying with all her might that her face did not look like a rotten tomato in its color.
"I... actually never celebrated Halloween before, my Sa- Rika. I'm not even sure what exactly people are supposed to be doing on this date, never mind the clothes."
She heard a soft gasp escape from the petite woman sitting in front of her. "Oh...?"
Reiko groaned internally, fighting the urge to cover her face with both of her palms and instead focusing on counting the lavish patterns on the carpet placed beneath them. Great, now she looks like a complete fool. It's not like she had much time to celebrate any holidays before! And Halloween never was one of them anyway.
Before she could come up with some kind of excuse though, she felt a warm hand place itself onto her chin, gently lifting her face high enough for her to see the troubled expression of Mint Eye's captivating leader once more. There was nowhere to hide for her now. But, she saw no disturbance or glee in the blonde woman's hypnotizing emerald eyes, merely worry. Rika tilted her head to the side, somehow making her already silky voice get even softer. It caused her heart to helplessly clench in her chest and her breath to get caught up in her throat.
"Well, that's nothing to be ashamed about, my old friend. In fact, I'm happy you'll be able to experience this wonderous day with me by your side. I'll make sure you'll enjoy yourself next week. You more than deserve it for all the hard work you provide both for me and our paradise."
Reiko bit her lip with force, putting all of her efforts into not fidgeting in her seat too much. "It's not my job to 'have fun'. I'm supposed to keep you safe, first and foremost."
Her retort sounded puny even to her own ears, making her mentally cringe at her feeble attempt at resistance. She always felt so strong and invincible among other believers... and yet, when it came to her old and dear friend, she was completely helpless, each and every time. This vulnerability both scared and intrigued her in equal part.
After all, there's always a certain thrill accompanying every danger. And this danger felt... electrifying. Rika shook her head, causing her long golden curls to seemingly float around her. She looked almost enthralling.
"You can do two things at once, right? The Reiko I know is a master at multitasking."
Not when you're so distracting to the eye.
She almost choked on her own words. What's wrong with her? She never loses control like this! Instead, she gulped, deciding to change the subject all together in order to avoid any possible dangers ahead. At least, she hoped so. "I'll try. So, what exactly do you do on Halloween then? Except going trick or treating, of course."
Despite her desperate attempts, however, Rika seemed to have caught on to her inner distress. It wasn't often for her to become playful, but it looked like she decided to make an exception for her, just this once.
How lucky for her.
Though, was that a good or a bad thing, Reiko did not quite know yet.
"Hmm, let's see... Well, for example, you tell each other scary stories. It is a night when all of our inner demons can roam free, not having to be afraid of anything from the cruel outside world. What better way to experience the thrilling rush of danger than to listen to a blood-curdling horror story? Are you okay with that, my friend?" Rika hummed, slowly moving away from the stunned woman sitting in front of her and returning her attention to the cup of tea on the table, as if nothing weird has ever happened.
Reiko blinked, eventually starting to come back to her senses once again. Was that a request? Or a challenge? She couldn't really tell...
Well, whatever it was-
She smirked, leaning towards the table with her whole body and raising both of her eyebrows in over-exaggerated excitement.
"Oh, is that all? I can assure you, I can handle a good horror story just fine, but, can you handle those I have in store? I'll make sure to save up the best ones for you, and you only. I hope you'll look forward to it. It'll be just like the old times."
Was she being too forward? She wasn't really sure, where exactly that thin line of what was allowed and what was not layed, but... by the look of surprise on the blonde woman's face, she got exactly what she wanted.
More than anything, she adored the privilege of being able to see those sides of their Savior, that nobody else was allowed to see. It felt... special. Although, Rika quickly regained her composure once more, chuckling under her breath and reaching across the table another time in order to take her hand into her own. Her hands were cold, but... it didn't feel uncomfortable for her. Reiko enjoyed the feeling of her cool skin touching her own.
"Getting bold now, are we? I always loved that about you. Say, why don't we celebrate Halloween early this year? Just you and me. It'll be our own celebration of the beautiful darkness we nourish inside of our souls, hidden from prying eyes of outsiders." Rika whispered enticingly, making shivers go up her spine. Her green eyes seemed to hold a different kind of intensity to them, holding her captive with their inviting promise of something she couldn't quite place her finger on.
Though, Reiko didn't even need to think for long, before her body acted seemingly all on its own, revoking a swift nod from her side.
She no longer cared about the party happening next week. This Halloween was going to be the sweetest she'll ever experience, she was already sure of it.

MYSME-FICTOBER 29 OCT ‘22
Thriller
29 October 2022
They ran. Saeran in front dragging Yoosung behind him. The blond was out of breath, his legs felt like rubber and the only thing keeping him going was the red-head pulling him. He was about to collapse and if he did, they were both dead.
Tears sprang to his eyes. He stopped and pulled his hand out of Saeran’s, falling to the ground. The other man, huffing and puffing himself, though he had much more stamina to keep moving, turned, mint green eyes wide with fear.
“Go! Leave me. I’m only slowing you down.” Yoosung cried.
“Are you insane? I’m not leaving you! Now get your ass up!” Saeran tried to grasp him and pull him up. Yoosung shoved him away, or tried to anyway, there was little to no strength in it.
“You’ll die! Please!” Yoosung pleaded.
“I don’t care! We either live together or we die together. So…if you’re giving up then I’m going to sit right here and die with you.” Saeran said. He plopped down next to his lover and held him close. “I don’t want to survive without you.”
“Saeran…please…” Yoosung begged but he knew it was no use. The other man meant what he said. He took a deep breath, the sounds of snarling and claws on pavement getting louder behind him. He couldn’t let it happen. He dug deep inside himself and somehow managed to shakily get to his feet. If they were going to die, they would at least die fighting to survive.
“Let’s go.” He said. Saeran stood and after a small hug and peck on the cheek took off once more, dragging Yoosung behind him.

MYSME-FICTOBER 28 OCT ‘22
Witchcraft
October 28th 2022
MC walked through the entrance. It was huge and elegant. There were several other students around her. Some seemed at ease, while others, like her, appeared anxious and nervous. They walked in a small stream down the lavish hallway. Her parents had dropped her off and promptly left, still unsure how they felt about their daughter going to a school for witches.
She herself was unsure as well. But she was thrilled to learn magic, to see if it was like the storybooks. And if she was successful, perhaps she could help her family to become financially secure. At the very least her being here and having all expenses paid for would ease the burden on them.
A tall woman stepped out from one of the many doors. She didn’t look like a witch, dressed in modern clothes, elegantly chic. Her black hair glistened in the lights from the chandeliers overhead, running down her back. Her red pantsuit looked expensive and tailored. She didn’t wear a witch’s hat, nor did she hold a broom. MC was a bit disappointed. She had expected a dark and gloomy castle with sputtering torchlights and robed figures.
“Welcome students to a new school year. I am Professor Norrin, counselor for first years. If I could have you split into girls and boys please, for any other genders see me. Here we have two upper classmen whom you will follow to your dormitories.” A girl with brown hair stepped up next to her left side and a boy with raven black hair to her right. “This is Jaehee Kang and Jumin Han. Make sure to listen to them carefully as you might get lost. These are large grounds and…things…sometimes happen that might not otherwise in the normal world. I hope to have a wonderful year and that you will learn much.”
MC felt relieved to be with Jaehee as Jumin seemed rather stern. The brown-haired girl smiled at them and spoke gently, answering any questions they had as they made their way across the grounds to a tall tower that was not attached to the main building at all.
“Fresh meat!” yelled a red-headed boy at them. His amber eyes behind his glasses gleamed even from the distance. Another boy stood behind him, same red hair and amber eyes, but without the smirk or confidence. Twins. MC shook her head. Boys are boys no matter where you are she thought. It had been a surprise to her that boys could be witches, but it didn’t really matter, did it? Magic was magic no matter what label you gave the wielder.
“Pay no mind to him. He’s ridiculous and a notorious prankster.” Jaehee said with a roll of her eyes.
“And the other one?” a girl asked.
“He’s fine, if he’s alone, but he’s usually with his brother. A bit shy but awfully powerful, more so than his errant brother. Perhaps if he worked as hard on his skills as he does on his wit, he might amount to something.” The last was spoken loudly, obviously meant for the red-head to hear. A laugh followed them as they left the boys behind. There weren’t as many students on the grounds as she’d thought there would be, but perhaps that was because school hadn’t officially started yet.
“Excuse me, but, uh, how many kids go to this school?” MC asked.
“Not as many as there used to be.” Jaehee slowed her pace and sighed. “The school was once so full that they had to turn students away. Now, the dorms might have about 60% occupancy.”
“Is magic fading?” Another girl asked.
“Not exactly. There are less students but, the magic they come with seems to be more powerful. Its as if magic is concentrating itself instead of spreading. There have been many studies on why this might be, if anyone is interested, I could email you some so that you can read about it.” She offered.
“I’d like to read them.” MC said. She had been interested in magic, witches, wizards, druids, you name it, she’d read about it. But getting to read from actual witches? Yes please!
“I’ll make sure to send them to you.” Jaehee said. A few other girls asked as well so she jotted down the names on her phone so she wouldn’t forget.
“The boy’s dormitories are on the other side of the grounds, but there is a lot of mingling that happens so don’t feel as if you need to stay away from them. Be careful of upperclassmen, as they have been known to haze new students. Do not believe everything they say, have a teacher verify the information before acting on it.” She advised.
“Here we are.” They stopped in front of the tower but a murmuring erupted amongst them. There was no door.
Jaehee smiled and explained. “This is your first use of magic. If you will carefully look at the area at the base of the tower, you can see an outline of a sigil in the grass.” They did as they were asked and MC immediately saw it and wondered how she could have missed it since it was so obvious.
“One by one you will step on the sigil. I will tell you your floor and room number. You will use your magic to teleport you there, either by going to the floor or your room. Are we clear?”
“Uh.” A girl raised her hand, “What if we don’t know how to use our magic?”
“What if we don’t have any magic?” Another chimed in and more anxious murmuring broke out.
“Not to worry. If you had no magic, you wouldn’t be here. If you find it impossible to use, I shall help you.” Jaehee said.
MC was eager to attempt the teleportation. The first few girls didn’t seem to have much of a problem with it, but the last one had taken at least five minutes before she disappeared.
“Next up is MC.” Jaehee said. MC didn’t hesitate to step into the sigil. She grasped her brown hair tightly, an anxious habit she’d picked up at some point. “Floor 7 Room 7.” MC nodded and closed her eyes concentrating on the number 7. She felt a whoosh and a lightness in her body. When she opened her eyes she was inside a small comfortable room. There was a twin bed on one side, a desk with a laptop on it, some pencils, pens, and notebook. A bookshelf was next to the desk, that sat under the only window. It was full of books already and her eyes lit up at the titles. Love Potion #9, Herbalism in the Modern Age, Magic redefined, Wand No More. She barely noticed the dresser opposite the bed, in which her meager amount of clothes was already stashed. It was going to be a fantastic year!
………………..
“Here we go!” the red-headed boy stood close by. He must have followed them. His twin still stood behind and to the side of him. He looked eager to witness what was about to happen as well.
A small gaggle of boys stood in front of their tower, Jumin having just given them the directions on how to get to their rooms. The tall grey eyed boy ignored the red-head and proceeded to call out names.
A small boy stood at the very back of the gathering. He looked incredibly nervous shuffling from foot to foot. His hair was an almost caramel brown and when he turned to face the twins Saeran gasped at how intense his amethyst eyes were. He’d never seen that color before.
“Hi! My name’s Yoosung. It’s my first year.” He grinned widely.
“Duh!” the red-head with the glasses said. His brother shoved him and growled at him. Yoosung’s eyes went wide and began to tear up.
“I was just kidding. I’m Saeyoung and this is my brother Saeran, he’s pretty shy though so don’t take it personally if he ignores you.” The pair stepped forward, Saeran right next to his brother.
“I like your eyes, they’re really pretty, like gladiolus.” Saeran said. Saeyoung was flabbergasted as his brother never initiated conversation with anyone but him.
“I…I don’t know what that is, but, thank you?” Yoosung said, a bit confused.
“It’s a flower. It has different shades but purple means charm, grace, and mysteriousness.” Saeran clarified.
“Oh. Well, I’m none of those things obviously.” Yoosung laughed. Saeran cocked his head and blinked at the boy.
“Yoosung Kim.” Jumin said. The older boys clipped voice made Yoosung jump.
“That’s me! I hope to see you inside! And…you can tell me more about flowers, OK?” Yoosung asked.
Saeran nodded, a small smile on his lips. He watched the brunette step onto the sigil.
“Floor 16, Room 10.” Jumin said, and it seemed that even before he’d gotten all his words out Yoosung disappeared. It made him gasp in surprise. The boy was a natural it seemed.
“Same floor! Aren’t you lucky?” Saeyoung put an arm around his brother who still held a smile. A smile Sayoung knew was all too rare. It was going to be a great year!

Monster Mash
October 27th 2022
“Stop looking as if you’re not enjoying yourself my love.” Lillie said as she straightened Jumin’s ruffled collar. He was dressed as a very sophisticated Victorian vampire. Lillie herself dressed as his female victim. It had been Jumin’s idea, and she loved it. He had pretended to bite her neck before they left the apartment, tickling her and making them almost reconsider joining the party.
“Only because I’m here with you kitten.” He leaned forward and nuzzled her neck.
“Oh hey, none of that, there are children here!” Zen said rolling his eyes. He was resplendent in a werewolf costume. Grey ears, a tale, and a collar around his neck. His makeup was exemplary, blended to look like realistic fur, crimson eyes shining through thick eyeliner expertly applied.
“Zen! You look amazing!” Lillie hugged the tall man.
“I know, and you look like the most stunning vampire victim that ever lived.” He took her hand and kissed it. “If you ever need to escape the monster, you know where to find me.” He eyed Jumin who merely cocked an eyebrow. Lillie giggled like a schoolgirl but took her hand back and grabbed onto her husband.
“I think I’ll stay.” She said, earning a grin from her husband.
“Trying to steal another man’s wife Zen? Should I be worried too?” Saeyoung threw an arm around Zen, a giant grin on his face.
“What exactly are you supposed to be?” the white-haired man asked, genuinely perplexed.
“Really? You can’t guess?” Saeyoung took a step back and spread his arms. He was covered from head to toe with what looked like green cellophane. “I’m the Blob!”
“And I’m the spoon that’s going to eat him up!” MC said, her face poking out of the tines around her head, her body in a silver body suit as if it was the handle.
Lillie laughed and embraced the other woman.
“You two look wonderful! How imaginative!” she said.
“Thank you. It was Saeyoung’s idea of course. This was much better than the bulky astronaut suits he wanted us to wear at first.” MC said.
As they chatted and admired each other’s costumes Saeran and Yoosung walked towards them. Saeran was dressed as a red-furred werewolf, extensions trailing down his neck, red ears perked above his head, fluffy tail in his hand. Yoosung wore a red cape, black corset with flowing white skirt that ended just above his knees. In his hands he carried a basket with a plaid napkin tucked inside. The black boots caressed his calves and the heels clicked on the tile. Saeran put his arm around the man and pulled him close.
“Wow!” Zen’s eyes widened as he gazed at the tantalizing couple.
“Wow indeed.” Saeyoung said, a wide grin on his face.
Yoosung blushed as Saeran gave him a playful bite on the neck.
“You all look so wonderful. I feel like my costume is rather plain in comparison.” Jaehee appeared before them. She wore a tight black dress with a red corset, the flowing hem reached the floor making it seem as if she was floating. On her head were black horns, her brown hair carefully sculpted into tight curls. Leathery wings were attached to her back. They gently swayed as she walked. Black eyeliner circled her eyes, deep plum eyeshadow with silver sparkle adorned her eyelids. A deep crimson lipstick was on her lips.
As far as monsters went, they all agreed Jaehee was the winner.

MYSME-FICTOBER 26 OCT ‘22
spoiler for AE Saeran
Boneyard
October 25th 2022
He sat in front of the tombstone, idly plucking at some errant weeds. With a sigh he pushed the blond hair falling over his eyes back. There were no tears in his amethyst eyes. The well had run dry long ago. Honestly, he didn’t know why he kept coming. After everything she’d done, he should walk away and never look back. But she was his cousin, and she was responsible for much of the way he lived his life. Even if the reality was that she didn’t have any of those qualities.
He still did. She had provided a path to being a better person and Yoosung had believed her. Now he was on that path, even if she truly never was herself. It was a contradiction for sure. He was thankful that he had someone to look up to and try to emulate. Her death was a mystery, and still he wondered if it was true this time.
After Zen had sent her away there was no way to get in touch with her. Letters from her sometimes arrived, but it was like a child had written them. Once the truth had come out, both he and Zen had been livid. It had taken weeks before Yoosung could look Saeran in the eye, it was still difficult. All the times he’d been praising his cousin to his face! It had been cruel, but Saeran didn’t blame him.
He sighed and shook his head, why was he even here? Why did he still come here?
“Why? Why would you do this?” he asked, knowing he would never get an answer. “How could you do it? Hurt so many people? Help me understand!” he clenched his fists but there was nothing he could focus his anger on. Anger at his cousin! At the world! At himself!
“Why?!” he screamed.
“Because I could.” The voice was in his ear startling him. He veered around and slammed his back into the tombstone. In front of him stood Rika. It was how he remembered her, long flowing blond hair, a beautiful smile…but. Her eyes, her green eyes, there was something missing in them. She floated above him, body transparent. The smile he had always admired turned from beautiful to terrifying in an instant. She bent, her face less than an inch from his.
“And do you know what else little Yoosung? I enjoyed it! The power! The worship! I could get them to do anything I wanted!” she laughed and floated back.
Yoosung swallowed, too scared to move.
“What’s the matter? Have you lost that little boy crush you had on me? I enjoyed that too you know. Having you follow me around like a little puppy. It was delicious!” she said. “That’s exactly where you should be, on your knees before me! And now that I have no earthly body to hold me back, that is exactly where you all will be!” her words escalated as she spoke, sounding crazier and crazier.
“Mine! It will be all mine once and for all. The power! I feel it inside of me. Mint Eye will rise again and nothing will be able to destroy it ever again!”
“You’re crazy!” Yoosung managed to squeak out. He rose slowly, using the cold stone at his back.
Blond hair swirled with anger as she turned to glare at the obstinate youth.
“How dare you! How dare you try and defy me! You could be part of something magnificent! Follow me Yoosung, you know you want to.” Her wrath turned to cajoling and sweet smiles. But the rose colored glasses had forever been torn off his face in regards to his cousin.
“Follow you? How could I? You are part of the reason the man I love will always suffer in some way. You are the reason his trauma has been increased a thousand-fold. Follow you?! Never!” he screamed, standing defiantly against the wraith.
“Love?” she whispered. “You know nothing about love. I loved Saeran. I gave him a purpose. I gave him power!”
“You gave me lies!” Saeran stepped out from behind a tree, glaring at the spirit as it whipped around and snarled at him, teeth growing into needles, mouth grotesquely large.
“Saeran! What…” Yoosung was surprised to see his lover in the graveyard. His red hair blew across his face in the wind, mint green eyes ablaze with resentment.
The eyes softened as he met Yoosung’s gaze.
“How dare you! How dare you! How dare you!” Rika wailed, wind stirring up debris and dirt from the ground in a funnel around her.
“Enough!” Saeran yelled above the cacophony, his left hand outstretched in front of him. The power in his voice was palpable. So pressing that Yoosung fell back down against the tombstone.
Rika’s wraith froze, eyes finally filling with fear.
“Not another word.” Saeran clipped out through clenched teeth. He neared the wraith slowly. “I’m glad you’re here Rika. I can finally expel you from my psyche. Always there, but no longer having any power over me. You are nothing! You were nothing but a child wanting to be worshiped. You don’t care about anyone but yourself. No MORE!” he squeezed his hand as if he strangled her.
“N…o…plea…se…” Rika’s wraith pleaded, but it was useless. Saeran’s power was too much for her. The small amount of energy that fueled her being began to dissipate, she was disappearing. Once she was gone Saeran fell to the ground expended.
Yoosung rushed to him and took him in his arms. “How…” he started to ask but decided it didn’t matter. “Do you always follow me here?” he asked instead. Softly, not accusingly.
“I just want you to be safe. She always brings you pain.” He whispered.
“I thought I hid it so well. I never wanted to remind you of…her. I’m sorry I worried you, but I guess there was good reason to. How did you do that?” Yoosung held him close, head on his lap.
Saeran smiled and reached a tired hand to caress the other man’s cheek. “I always worry about you. I love you. I love you so much.”
Yoosung returned the smile and bent over to give the man a kiss. “Let’s go home.”
Saeran nodded and let Yoosung help him up. They walked away, neither men looking back at the broken and cracked stone.

Death
October 25th 2022
She has long hair where once she had short. Brown eyes no longer hidden behind glasses. She isn’t tall, neither is she short. The outfit she is wearing is not one she would have normally chosen for herself, but her new job makes it a necessity. It is stunning on her, the black compliments her skin tone, and the tight fit accentuates her curves.
The ruffling of her dark feathered wings is something she is now used to, although it had startled her when she’d first heard and felt it. She grips the scythe in her right hand, an instrument that should bring dread but only makes her feel comfort. Death. Something that almost every human no matter the culture, gender, or social status feared. Death. The final balance to life. And now it is in her hands.
She holds the scythe in both hands, understanding that it is merely a tool used to reap what has already reached expiration. With or without her, with or without Death, the soul will be harvested. It should seem a terrible job, but it is instead compassionate, caring, and comforting. She is Death. Given the job because of the skills she earned in life, and the integrity in which she immersed herself.
It was not something she asked for, but now she holds it and will do it to the best of her ability.
Death, formally known as Jaehee Kang in life, walks amongst the living, reaping souls and taking them to their final resting place. Most thank her, some screech in anger at the unfairness of it all. She never wavers however, secure in the knowledge that Death comes for one and all.

Scream
October 24th 2022
“It’s a Halloween tradition!” Saeyoung said as he sat Yoosung down on the sofa.
“But I don’t like scary movies!” the blond protested.
“You can sit on my lap if you want to.” Saeran smirked. Saeyoung had to hold his guffaw in. His twin was becoming something between the Unknown personality Mint Eye had brought out in him and the sweet Saeran he’d known as a child. He could see the flush that colored his face at the words he heard coming out of his mouth. Yoosung wasn’t much better as he sputtered, completely forgetting about the movie they were about to watch.
“Well, that saves some room.” Saeyoung shrugged, earning another sputter from the blond.
“Saeyoung, help me with the snack please.” MC called from the kitchen.
“On my way!” the red-head straightened his glasses and hopped to with a spring in his step.
“Here I am love of my life!” he kissed MC on the cheek, running his fingers through her auburn hair lovingly.
MC laughed and pushed a small tub of ice with PhD Peppers in it. “Put that on the coffee table. I’ll take these delectables.” She carried a large tray full of Halloween themed finger foods. On the sofa both Saeran and Yoosung sat straight up, backs stiff, hands on knees, taking extra care not to make eye contact. MC and Saeyoung simply looked at each other and rolled their eyes.
“Move it Yoo, I’m sitting on this end.” MC shoved Yoosung over, closer to Saeran, and sat down, after setting the tray on the coffee. She made sure to sit so far over that Yoosung was indeed almost on Saeran’s lap. The blond gulped but said nothing.
“I’m sitting here!” Saeyoung plopped himself on the floor between the coffee table and his wife. She opened her legs and he settled between her thighs as she stroked his red hair. He looked lovingly up at her with amber eyes full of mischief. She giggled and kissed him on the forehead.
“Can we just start the movie?” Saeran asked reaching for the remote.
“Yep, start it up.” Saeyoung said taking a finger sandwich from the tray and shoving the whole thing in his mouth. “Mmm, msgood.” He muffled.
“Thank you my love.” MC patted her husband on the head with care.
“Why are you thanking him, you just bought the snacks, you didn’t make them.” Saeran interjected.
“Harsh!” MC yelled and reached across Yoosung to playfully punch at Saeran. The twin simply dodged and shook his head.
Everyone settled in, Saeran pressed play on the movie. He could feel the warmth of Yoosung’s shoulder and thigh against him. He tried to make himself as small as possible so the younger man wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. The beginning of the movie unfolded, a blond teenager apparently, who was home alone when she got a creepy phone call. When the person in the scream mask showed up Yoosung jumped and turned towards him, burying his face into Saeran’s shoulder. He also clutched at his arm not letting go until the music proved the scary part was over.
By the end of the movie Yoosung’s legs were pulled up on the sofa and leaned across Saeran’s lap. He was sure there were going to be claw marks on his right arm from how hard the blond clung to him. Most of the movie he’d been pressed against Saeran, amethyst eyes closed. He’d refused to eat or drink anything, only peeking out a little at a time.
Saeran had taken to pushing his head down on his shoulder when he knew something bad was about to happen. Yoosung would sometimes whimper and the sound was so cute it made Saeran blush furiously. He was sorry when the movie ended and Yoosung untangled himself from his body.
“Uh, sorry…I…um…” Yoosung shook and looked embarrassed.
“It’s fine, I told you you could sit on my lap if you wanted to.” Saeran tried to joke.
“I guess you did.” Yoosung laughed. It thrilled Saeran to see and hear that. “It’s just, I’m not a fan of scary movies.”
“I know, you’ve said that before. I’m glad you came though. Do you think you’ll be able to sit through Scream 2? I promise I’ll hold you if you need it.” He tried to sound confident, but he could hear the tremor in his voice.
“Well, if you don’t mind, I’d appreciate that. But, can we have a small intermission before starting the next movie? I’m kinda’ hungry and would like to eat first.” He chuckled.
The twins and MC joined in his laughter, agreeing to the terms. MC and Saeyoung excused themselves and left them alone until they were ready to start the next movie. Saeran and Yoosung ate. Even though they now had the entire couch to themselves, they stayed close to each other. It was comfortable and warm. When Yoosung felt ready to endure the next movie, he snuggled next to Saeran, his head already on the other man’s shoulder. Scary movies weren’t so bad if you had someone close to watch them with.

Mysme-fictober Day 4 - Haunted House

SE!Saeran/gn!reader
Mysme-fictober promts belong to @mysme-fictober!
"Stop. I'll go with you. ...Or, you'll just stay here."
You flinched, not at all expecting to hear a familiar gruff voice right behind you, which instantly made you turn to Saeran with obvious confusion swimming in your gaze.
"Um... What?" That was all you could manage to mumble, most definitely looking pretty perplexed with your dumbfounded facial expression.
He huffed, quickly putting both of his hands inside the pockets of his ripped jeans and arching an eyebrow at you. The redhead was clearly fairly annoyed at the necessity to repeat his words to you once again, but he didn't voice any of his irritations out loud. "I said: either you go in there with me, or we ditch my idiot brother and his antics as I suggested to you from the very start, and go for some ice cream."
You blinked, trying to process everything that you just heard and not let too much of your bewilderment show up on your face. Although, judging by his deadpan gaze, your attempts were failing fast, despite your efforts.
"Uhh... Y-you, don't have to do that for me! It can get very... loud and intense in there. And you never even went to any haunted houses before. Besides, it's only a stupid bet, I don't want you to put yourself into an uncomfortable position because of my own stubbornness."
You waved both of your hands in front of your face, putting on a slightly nervous smile to reassure him that you were going to be just fine. Still, your heart fluttered at the prospect of him doing this only to protect you. Saeran was caring, whether he showed it openly or not. You never really liked haunted houses from the very beginning, and going through one all by yourself was something you didn't even try before. While your tolerance for spooky stuff was pretty average in your own assessment, it'd be pretty stupid to deny that you'll probably come out of there shaking like a leaf and in need of a very long hug.
This was the first time you visited an amusement park with both of the twins, so your expectations were set up pretty high. Getting out somewhere as a whole family like this was a pretty rare occasion for you three, which is why you were practically buzzing with excitement, scurrying down the street with a spring in your step and a huge peppy grin lighting up your entire face like a ray of sunshine shining from within. You couldn't remember the last time you went to such a place... probably when you were still a kid. Oh, it'd be so fun to experience all these different attractions with the twins right there next to you!
Well, all the more thrilling rides were saved up for you and Saeyoung to enjoy, all while Saeran stayed behind to check out the sweets shop or relax on a nearby bench next to the peaceful shade where it's ten times quieter. Still, this did not at all mean that Saeran wasn't participating in the rides. The ferris wheel quickly became one of his favorites: you could practically see the wonder in his wide awestruck eyes, as he quietly surveilled the clouds getting closer and closer to him as minutes passed by. You even wished you'd take a picture of this magical moment, but, in the end, you decided to simply squeeze his hand in your own and gently place your head onto his shoulder, enjoying the view of the evening sky uncovering itself before the two of you. While your time with Saeran felt peaceful and unrushed, when it came to your brother-in-law, it was the total opposite of that. With Saeyoung, you could let loose completely, shrieking at the top of your lungs as you rode yet another thrilling roller coaster and feeling the wind make a total mess out of your hair. You didn't remember, when exactly the teasing had begun, but before you knew it, you two were competing on who's the more resilient one when it comes to every single exhilarating ride in this amusement park. To his exasperation, Saeran was deemed your judge, keeping a steady score in his notes as you and Saeyoung raced from one attraction to another, determined to prove each other wrong.
To be fair, you should have listened to your boyfriend since the very beginning, which you slowly but surely started to realize as, with each new ride, your energy inevitably started to plummet, all while Saeyoung, seemingly, did not break a sweat. He was a former informant, which meant he was specifically trained to withstand such demanding ordeals, and yet, against all odds, you refused to admit your defeat.
Which has led you to this. Of course, he would save the best for last... The Haunted House was his ultimate trump card against you, and he made it perfectly clear before going inside the attraction itself. That cunning grin he wore proudly on his face was louder than a thousand words put together. You were going to be completely destroyed and he knew it. Ugh, Saeran was right, there's no point in trying to deny it. He was right from the very start, and he's still being so incredibly patient with you and your stupid desire to prove his brother wrong. You even felt a bit guilty for acting so childish in front of him.
Although, he merely rolled his eyes at you, letting out a soft huff and slightly furrowing his brows. "Y/N, we both know that you're going to lose this 'bet' the minute you go in there. You're barely even standing after all these stupid rides you went through because of my idiot brother. Either I go with you, and we end this competition you want to win so badly, or we find somewhere quieter to rest our legs. Or, your legs, to be exact. Your choice."
He was as blunt as always, and all you could do was stare at the ground like a child being scolded for doing something incredibly stupid. Well, he wasn't wrong for scolding you like this, and it's not like he was even 'scolding' you per se. You knew it was his way of caring for you, and you were in the wrong here, anyway.
Indeed, your body was practically begging you for rest, completely worn out after all of the excitement you put yourself through for the day. Trying to withstand the Haunted House all by yourself in this condition was a very bad idea, and you will not only lose this godforsaken bet, but might actually hurt yourself in there. Saeran wasn't having that. He has always put his foot down whenever your stubborn nature got the better of you, and you knew deep within your gut that that's exactly what he was doing right now. Which meant it would be wise for you to listen to him, whether you liked it or not.
You sighed, sagging your shoulders and feeling the tips of your ears burn from the shame you felt deep within your gut. You probably looked like a complete and utter idiot...
"I'm sorry... I got carried away, I know. And now you're even sacrificing your own comfort for my stupid decisions."
You heard a soft groan coming from his direction, before a warm hand placed itself on the top of your head, making you gasp in surprise.
"Stop being so dramatic, dummy. I am capable of making my own decisions, and I am not sacrificing anything here. I'm not the one practically drooping from exhaustion." He caressed your head with a certain tenderness in his smooth touch that made a swarm of butterflies soar up within your stomach. Now your cheeks were burning up for a completely different reason than before.
You gulped, tentatively looking up at him through your lashes. You never knew being petted on the head could feel so nice... You honestly wished he'd never stop now.
His facial expression softened significantly, making your chest tighten with affection. You were pretty sure the corners of his mouth were slightly turning upward as if he was on a verge of a small smile. Although, you weren't quite sure your poor heart could take such an overwhelming sight right now. Bashfully, you opened your mouth to speak, trying your damn hardest not to stutter like a lovesick high schooler would in front of their crush.
"Are... you absolutely sure you're okay with that? I wasn't lying when I said it can get pretty intense in there, you know... I really don't want to force you into something you don't want, Saeran."
He chuckled, gently flicking you on the forehead with his finger, catching you completely off guard and making you stumble back a bit in surprise.
"W-what was that for!?" You exclaimed, covering your forehead with your hand and staring at him with a pair of dumbfounded eyes the size of dinner plates.
"That was for repeating the same tune over and over again. I told you, I'm fine. I've heard more than enough about this 'Haunted House' of yours from other people chatting next to me, while you were having your fun, to know that there's absolutely nothing there that could cause me any harm. Trust me, I've seen and heard way worse stuff in my lifetime. Sure it'll be annoying with all the useless noise, but nothing I can't handle. Can't say the same for you, though."
You blinked, opening and closing your mouth a few times, like a fish out of water. Well... this was certainly one turn of events you couldn't have expected.
"I'm guessing that's a 'yes'?" He cocked his head to the side, patiently awaiting for your response. You could have sworn you saw specks of mischief flickering around in his mint eyes, making your cheeks flush with an even deeper shade of red.
Either way, you nodded, taking a small step towards him and outstretching your hand in a silent invitation. To your surprise, Saeran, instead, decided to sling his arm over your shoulder, pulling you close to his side as he walked nonchalantly towards the Haunted House still standings in front of you.
You were definitely taken aback by this sudden closeness, feeling your heart soar up all the way into your throat.
"S-Saeran...?" You stuttered, looking up at him in silent question as you stepped forward side-by-side, too captivated by the comforting warmth of his body so close to your own to even notice any of the scary decorations slowly starting to surround you by now. He glanced your way, slightly squeezing your shoulder in a firm and reassuring grip.
"Don't worry, you're safe with me."
And you trusted him with all of your heart on that promise.

Candied Apples
October 23rd 2022
Saeran looked worried. But then again, Saeran always looked worried. He had good cause to. Their mother was relentless when it came to punishing any perceived disobedience.
“She’s out cold.” Saeyoung said, his small shaking hands betraying his confidence. They had been through a lot in their 10 short years, he just wanted to give something to his brother that put a smile on his face. It wouldn’t cover the bruises, but it might ease them a bit. “Here.” He threw a dirty sheet over Saeran’s head, covering his red hair. The holes he’d cut for the eyes didn’t quite match up, but Saeran’s amber eyes could be seen well enough.
“There! You look like a ghost!” Saeyoung grinned.
“What about you?” Saeran asked.
“We’re twins aren’t we?” Saeyoung’s grin widened as he pulled another matching sheet from the pile of clothes next to the bedraggled mattress on the floor. “See?” Saeran nodded as he watched his brother disappear under the sheet.
“I got these too.” From the same pile two convenience store bags appeared, he gave one to his brother and kept the other. “There, now we’re ready to go Trick-or-Treating!” Saeran lowered his head reluctantly.
Saeyoung sighed but he was determined to make this work. He took Saeran’s hand and led him out the door, past their sleeping mother. The stench of cigarette smoke lingered around her, as did the alcohol she most enjoyed, a bottle of it at her feet, empty of course. He could hear Saeran sobbing quietly, but he kept moving until they were out of the house. As soon as their feet touched the sidewalk they began to run, still holding fast to each other.
A couple of streets further and Saeyoung stopped. There were other kids walking around, most small ones with their parents. He pushed the thought that tried to take root in his head about a happy family. He had Saeran, that was the only important thing right now.
“Let’s go.” He said and followed a group of other costumed kids to the closest house. As they got to the front, where a woman was dressed like a witch holding a cauldron full of candy, Saeran scooted behind Saeyoung and peeked over his shoulder.
“Trick-or-Treat.” Saeyoung said loudly, and held out his bag.
“Oh my, a couple of ghosts! How spooky!” the woman’s eyes widened and Saeran hid completely behind his brother. “I’m sorry sweetie, I didn’t mean to scare you. Here you go, share with your friend.” She put two large handfuls of candy into Saeyoung’s bag.
“Thank you.” Saeyoung said.
“You’re welcome.” Said the woman, already moving her attention to the group behind them. They moved on, Saeran able to eek out the words “Trick-or-Treat” meekly. After going up and down a few streets their bags were full and they walked slower, Saeran dipping into his bag whenever a particular sweet caught his eye.
As they made their way onto a main street, they saw it was lit up with many stalls on either side. Traffic was cut off and there were people milling around contently. Both boys walked down the middle, eyes wide with so much to see. There was food, toys, handmade items, costumes, masks, so on and so on. Suddenly Saeran stopped and it took Saeyoung a few steps to realize his brother was no longer beside him. He panicked before he lay eyes on him. He stood in front of a brightly colored stall with orange and black crepe paper decorating it. On the counter there were several apples covered in red candy coating or melted caramel.
Saeyoung didn’t have to see his brother’s face to know he was probably drooling. He had a few dollars on him, that he’d been able to scrape together when their mother passed out. Taking just enough not to be noticed. With a sigh he pulled Saeran towards the stall and bought one candied apple. It took most of the money he had but it was worth it. Saeran pulled the sheet over his head and looked to be in absolute heaven as he tried to eat it.
“This is so good Saeyoung!” he tried to offer him some, but Saeyoung declined, not wanting to take anything away from his younger brother. It was a joy to see him smile and truly enjoy something. He hoped this night would be a memory Saeran could look back on with happiness. It was all he could really do for his brother. At least for the moment. Some day however, they would both be free and happy.

Bat Cave
October 22nd 2022
“Are you sure about this?” Vanderwood asked again. The darkness beyond the entrance was oppressive. Practically physically heavy. His gun was already out, honey coloered eyes scanning from cave wall to cave wall, including the ceiling and ground.
“Yes, how many times do I have to tell you? Don’t you trust me?” Seven chuckled, securing his backpack and taking out a flashlight. “I’ll lead the way, just try and stay quiet.
“Sure sure, go ahead, I’m right behind you.” The man kept a watchful eye on the younger man, making sure he didn’t set off any possible traps. Although the young agent was good at his job, he was annoying as a human being. Always teasing and getting under his skin. Vanderwood had tried several times to change his assignment, babysitting had never been in his career plans. Seven had only been 17 when Vanderwood had been assigned to mentor and protect him. 707 hadn’t been his first mentee but he had been the youngest.
A teenager needed different handling than an adult but Seven wasn’t the typical teenager. He was focused and driven. It had been an easy assignment. Because of his age, Vanderwood had stayed with him and a few years later, the boy changed. He was still skilled and did the best hacker work Vanderwood had ever seen, but he suddenly began to rebel, to sneak away, to begin playing pranks on his mentor. The older man had chalked it up to puberty/teenagehood catching up to him, but it had never subsided and now he felt stuck with a perpetual, immature, teenager with no sense of self preservation.
“Uh oh.” Seven whispered and knealt, Vanderwood stopped his reminiscence, berating himself for not staying alert to any dangers around them. However, he could see none.
“What is it?” he asked just as quietly, his neck swiveling around.
Seven turned his flashlight off, the sudden darkness made Vanderwood’s skin crawl with the encroaching blindness.
He heard Seven rummaging in his bag, then something hard jabbing him in the belly. “Put this on.” He fumbled with the item as he still held onto his weapon. Holstering it he finally held the item in both hands and could tell it was a pair of night vision goggles. Smart thinking, as always. He slid them over his head and turned them on. Seven’s greenish outline appeared, and he pointed upwards. Following the line of his finger he looked up to the cave ceiling, a small gasp escaped his mouth before slapping his hand over it. The ceiling was covered in bats. Sleeping of course. They made his skin crawl just looking at them. The thought of them waking up and surrounding him made him sweat. A sudden thought entered his mind, and he quickly switched his gaze to the young agent. Sure enough, even through the visage of the night goggles, he could see Seven’s grin from ear to ear. If it wouldn’t waken the wrath above them, he would tazze that insolent smirk off his face!
Seven simply shrugged and stood, continuing further into the cave. Once this mission was over, no matter that 707 was an adult now, he was going to take him over his knee and teach him once and for all, not to mess with his mentor!

Mysme-fictober Day 2 - Costumes

Yoosung/gn!reader
Mysme-fictober promts belong to @mysme-fictober!
You giggled as you circled yourself in front of the mirror and glanced at your costume from every angle. You looked absolutely ridiculous, and you loved every single detail about it. This was a great idea, and now you're only more convinced in the sheer genius of your plan.
With Halloween creeping up on you slowly but surely, you were more than thrilled to be able to spend this colorful holiday side by side with the RFA and help those in need with a good cause. RFA's Halloween fundraiser was something you came up with after hearing out Yoosung's reminiscences about the one they once held for Christmas a few years ago.
That is, how nice it would be for everyone to get together and spend a holiday side by side, instead of being torn apart by the huge amounts of work they have on their hands. Christmas is considered to be the busiest time of year not without reason after all. So, you decided to suggest hosting a fundraiser similar to the one Yoosung was describing, except for Halloween! This was something no one ever thought of doing before, and you felt extra proud of yourself for starting something new and working towards perfecting your vision.
To your excitement, everyone could make it to the fundraiser, which meant that your plans were turning out quite successful so far. You couldn't wait to see what costumes the gang would wear!
It was hard for you to imagine Jumin or Jaehee wearing something like a Halloween costume, but... there's a first for everything, right? And you were certain Seven would steal the whole show with his outfit. He seemed like the type to dress to impress without a doubt. Relatively speaking, anyway. Nevertheless, your costume was something you were quite proud of, however ridiculous or cheesy it may look.
Just in time, you heard the door to your bedroom reluctantly opening, making you turn around and focus all of your attention on your boyfriend, who's been dressing up on the opposite end of the door.
"Y/N... Are you really sure that this was a good idea...?"
Yoosung scratched at his neck bashfully, shifting from one foot to another.
You couldn't help but burst out giggling at the sight of him, holding onto your stomach and unsuccessfully trying to catch your breath in between your fits of laughter. Against his obvious embarrassment, he seemed to join in with your giggles, coming up closer to you and checking out your own outfit as well.
"Oh, God... I am so glad I managed to think of something so incredibly stupid. This outfit is just perfect." You wiped away your tears, collapsing onto the bed and trying to fight back yet another wave of laughter threatening to take over you once more.
He pouted, although the huge grin on his face destroyed any illusion of irritation he was trying to put on for you.
"You're one to talk, you huge meany! At least I am the main dish in our duet. You're just some extra seasoning! So maybe I am the one supposed to be making fun of you here~"
Yoosung jumped onto the bed, suddenly cornering you and starting to tickle your sides through the costume, which did not help your situation at all. You burst out cackling and squealing, trying your best to crawl away from his attack, but he just followed you without stopping his assault on you.
"Agh! A-a good omelet is not complete without ketchup! That's like - hahaha - trying to separate Dr. Pepper and Honey Butter Chips! T-that'd be a food crime!"
You managed to protest in between your never ending laughter. He snickered, finally giving you time to catch your breath and carefully moving you from the edge of the bed. Looks like you were dangerously close to falling off in your battle against his tickles. It's good that he was looking out for you like this.
He brushed his hand through your messy hair with an affectionate smile playing on his lips, and you couldn't help but lean into the warm touch, like a cat asking for more pets from its beloved owner. "You're starting to sound like Seven, don't do that. I know it's Halloween, but I don't want that type of scare on my hands for sure."
You chuckled, playfully wiggling your eyebrows at him.
"What, are my deductions too strong for my one and only superman Yoosung? In that case, I'll take that as a compliment."
He rolled his eyes at you, leaning down to place a soft kiss on your forehead.
"Nope. You just look too cute in your costume. Then again, I think you'd look lovely in anything. But still, ketchup suits you more than I initially thought. Plus, you're right. An omelet just won't taste the same without dressing, just like you're always there to motivate me to be the better version of myself. It's an honor to be your omelet, Y/N."
He couldn't help but laugh at his silly speech, lying down beside you.
You could feel the heat coming up to your cheeks, your heart fluttering inside your chest at such touching words. This was the most bizarre compliment you've ever gotten, and yet, you sorta felt like tearing up now. You sniffed, burying your face into his shoulder and snaking your arms around his torso to pull him into a tight hug. "And it's an honor to be your ketchup... I love you so, so much, do you know that?"
He chuckled, hugging you back and putting his chin on the top of your head.
"You tell me this every day, sweetie. But please don't cry, ok? Lisa is getting worried about you. And, of course, I love you too. So, so much."
You giggled, affectionately rubbing your face against the soft fabric of his omelet costume.
"Well, we can't have that... I'm so glad we still have time before the fundraiser. Do you mind if we just stay like this for a good while?"
Yoosung hummed, tapping his fingers against your back in a calming rhythm. " 'Course not. But we'll have to leave some time to get ourselves in check. I sorta ruined your look with all that tickling..."
You snorted, playful bumping him into the chest with your fist.
"Hey, I worked hard on that! I gotta be the prettiest ketchup around since it's my fundraiser we're talking about."
He hooked his leg under your own, pulling you even closer into his warm embrace. You felt a light pressure on the top of your head, where he placed a quick kiss, before nuzzling into you once more.
"And I am so proud of my lovely ketchup for all their hard work. What if I paint your nails once we're home? I know you wanted us to get matching manicures for a while now."
"Only if you let me paint yours."
"Deal."

Sweets
October 14th 2022
“These look fantastic Yoosung!” MC squealed as her chocolate brown eyes took in the variety of sweets on display.
“You think so? I worked really hard on this one, the crew was amazing too. Not sure I’ve gotten much sleep in the last few weeks, but it’s well worth it.” The blond was proud of his creations and happy to hear the RFA’s opinions on them. This was the first Halloween fundraiser, and he was ecstatic that Jumin and MC had asked him to cater the event. It was a different role from the one he’d previously had with the organization, but Saeran had filled the vacancy with ease.
His amethyst eyes scanned the crowd, and he quickly spotted his redheaded boyfriend with a headset on and a tablet in his hands. The man could tap on the tablet and give verbal commands without missing a beat. His gaze was pulled away as Jumin made his way towards the table. His body elegantly attired in a masquerade black and silver suit and a matching mask.
“You really have outdone yourself Yoosung, I must thank Saeran for encouraging you to follow this path, although I have missed out on an excellent apprentice.” He chuckled as he picked up a pumpkin tart shaped like, well, a pumpkin.
“Not to mention the rest of the food you’ve created. My particular favorite is the spaghetti zombie brains.” MC said.
People were drawn to the buffet. A lot of chatter began as they partook of the feast. It made Yoosung blush to hear such compliments and watching the pleasure eating his food brought to everyone. He didn’t hear a single complaint.
“I should take care of the auction, if you will both excuse me.” Jumin bent his head as he turned and walked away.
“I should probably take care of my own responsibilities.” MC gave Yoosung a short hug and swished away in her golden gown, the tail trailing behind her and shining in the twinkling lights strung on the ceiling.
The blond went back into the kitchen to restock some of the sweets, as they were quickly disappearing. His people and those Jumin had hired to work the event were busy, running in and out of the kitchen, one almost slammed into him, thankfully, the man held the tray he carried effortlessly. After the near miss he headed towards the packed treats when he saw a familiar red head.
Saeran, tablet in hand, fingers tapping away faster than seemed possible, had a mummy finger sandie cookie in his mouth. Yoosung watched in awe as the man quickly chewed it up and the cookie disappeared into his mouth. The other man didn’t skip a beat, nor did he take his eyes off of the tablet, as he snatched up another treat and stuffed it in his mouth, fingers going right back to what he had been doing on the tablet.
“Save some for the guests babe.” Yoosung said as he stepped closer to his boyfriend.
“Mmph?” Saeran looked up, mint green eyes as wide as a child who had been caught stealing candy. It made Yoosung laugh. It also made his heart soar to see the joy his pasteries brought to not only the people out in the grand room, but to those closest to him. Saeran had been invaluable as a taste tester, and of course, since he had such a sweet tooth, he had loved the job.
“Mm, sorry…I couldn’t help myself.” He set his tablet down and gave Yoosung a sheepish smirk. “They taste so good! Just like you.” He grinned and pulled Yoosung into a hug, planting a sweet kiss on him.
Yoosung heard the snickers around them, but he didn’t care. He was happy, it was one of the best days of his life, and he was going to enjoy it!
