The way it comes through esp during points of Noé trying to understand him, from trying to really *see* him or his behavior without jumping into a perspective of judgement. During times when he's allowing him the metaphorical space to breathe while being stubbornly right by his side. During moments that remind him of who he is and where he's coming from even without Noé really knowing those things about him himself.

we always talk about how beautiful Vanitas is in Noé's POV but let's not forget this is how Noé looks in Vanitas' POV when he smiles to him:

I love Jun Mochizuki's work so much because it's filled with people in frilly gowns and/or suits with giant floppy bowties and chonky cuffs, and they all have impractical asymmetrical anime haircuts and giant stylized eyelashes, and they are all being put through unimaginable psychological torment
