I felt like ep made them both nagas and did absolutely nothing with it and that’s so boring to me, so I gave them more snake like features that are present even when they take human forms. (Slit pupils, slightly wider mouths, thin fangs, scales around the upper cheek bone area and back of the hand)

I also gave them specific snake breeds that I thought fit with their personalities, Sano is spitting cobra because it fits well with his work and creepy doll hobby, this cobra is know for its venom that cause paralysis and killing off tissue in the body. Akira is a texas coral snake, this one was a joke at first to make fun of the fact akira and vincent are the same person but it actually goes really well with us character post memory loss. Coral snakes have a really painful bite but produce very little amounts of venom, I figured it was perfect for his mercenary type work.

Sano is still a “doctor” in my rewrite but it’s less focused on a surgical aspect and more on a drug based interest, he keeps his fascination with dolls and the medical field but in a completely different way than in the original. He now focuses more on black market selling and works more with akira, akira will find people sano finds interesting and sano takes them to his lab and turns them into dolls he can sell, occasionally keep one if he likes them enough. I completely removed sano being a professor at the college because I felt it wasn’t something he’d willing do even to lure victims.

Akira still works for shady people and kills people, he uses his connections in the underground to keep police off him and sano’s back. I made him less obviously hot headed and more charismatic, I also swapped sano’s interest in entomology and gave it to akira. He doesn’t feel bad about his job because he now views people like bugs and is generally more apathetic.

While akira is the one who brings back most of sano’s victims he’s also the one who ends up killing most of them (to sano’s annoyance) in real violent ways due to them, being to loud or trying to escape. Due to his apathy towards the people he brings back he almost views it like a house infestation and it’s slowly eats away at him. If sano doesn’t kill them in 2-3 days of them being down there it’s safe to assume akira will go down there to beat them to death
