howdy, saw your post asking for advice getting into the animation industry—i have a few years experience under my belt as well as a degree in character animation.
what i’m going to tell you is what any professional looking at your portfolio is going to tell you.
1) focus on foundations. anatomy and structure, clean silhouettes, and lines of motion. this is where you really need to focus your practice. it’s tedious and unglamorous, but it’s where we all begin.
2) forget focusing on a personal style. realistically, it will come as you continue to practice the foundations, but studios are more interested in how adaptable you are to THEIR vision, not yours. study lots of different types of cartoons and how things are built in those universes.
3) network with professionals. pick their brains about how they approached a certain look, or what program they used. get comfortable talking to people in that industry.
4) get comfortable accepting critique, especially if you plan on going to art school. this is a big one. there is no growth in a vacuum. having a second or third pair of eyes on a piece you’re working on is a boon, and is often the quickest way to grow.
5) keep practicing.
Thanks !! I will post most of my practices on my account , you can see it if you want !
As for styles , let's say thats an ongoing problem lol , I'm actually very good at copying artstyle (I don't know if that's what you meant tho when you talked about studying other artists) , but when it comes to my personal one ? I have a LOT of inspiration. More of which aren't compatible at ALL. But I still try , I might study background a lot more tho lol , thank you XDD

So, what u probably need to focus on is drawing figures.
Like practicing 3d shapes
Sketching people
Drawing from refeince.
What can help u fast is a schedule!
You'll be surprised how quickly you can improve if you don't end up all over the place!
So u pick a day just to study one thing!
And you should mabey focus on 3d shapes and consistency exercises.
Then movement and color and more
Also. When u think you're doing bad in ur art. Don't let it get you too discouraged!
you're forcing yourself to gain new skills essentially. Each mistake is something to learn from.
Also, if most of the time u sketch digitally, try to zoom in on your art as little as possible. Helps u learn how to draw faster.
Anyway. I'm tired rn. Hopefully what I typed makes sense. Goodnight! AND GO BE AWESOME!💪
I will look into things and post my results on my account ! Thankss XD
