4 years. 6 months and 20 days, but this fic is now finished!!!

I started this fic on January 1st 2021. it was one of those ideas that wouldn't let me go after I rewatched 3x01 for the umpteen time. I started plotting this AU, where Mac goes back to Nigeria and Jack is grieving his leaving and from then on it was just adding more and more feels until I started to find my way out of the angst loophole I drove myself to with my writing. It was then when Mac decided to come back and Jack suddenly was injured in an explosion and I had new bits and pieces to uncover. There is a twist to the Mareks story that I believe makes more sense because imho, Jack Dalton would have outright asked Mac to come back, in person, rather than orchestrate a whole rescue/capture mission for himself and Mareks.

I was hella depressed when I wrote like good 60% of this fic so beware of the angst and the sadness. However there are moments that I hope outweigh what I was feeling while writing the angsty bits.

Writing this fic was cathartic in more ways than one and I am really proud of how it turned out. I am not that person I was back in 2021. I still have my highs and lows, but I managed to come out to the other side of that horrible feeling, and for that, I am grateful.

I am dedicating this story to @thethistlegirl. She was by my side throughout the whole process, and she saw this thing through, down to the last word. You know that thanks will never be enough to express what I feel for all that you had to endure while I was writing this story.

Everything was normal. I was back to possibly hopping fandoms again. Then FBI: International happened. Season 4 on TV. I hit the motherload when the foster kid storyline made it. Then Heather went to camp. And I suddenly had a change of plans, watched a bunch of FBI: International episodes. Then Heather came back from camp. Suddenly she remembered I watched Chicago Med three years ago, and I stopped with s8 (the last season with Will). We were reminded I watched Chicago PD a few years before Med, got up to s7, but couldn't remember much save for a few episodes here and there (sometimes I watch something and it sticks, but like a blur).

The result: nothing was normal, and we are okay with that.

So, I made gifs of 3x17 and here we are. There probably will be more gifs coming, we'll see how it goes between me hopping through scenes, episodes, and reading (both fics and actual books), and possibly writing (I definitely need to revisit my writing for CMed and add more to it, and possibly CPD as well).

Ok, now that I described my road of how we got these gifs, have a very tough CPD detective crying (who said tough characters can't cry, I wanna fight).
