Finished my third earthly sweater which is 3.5”-4” longer than my first earthly sweater. My second earthly sweater is also the longer body length. Love the pattern! I am now on to other knit projects, but now have a sweater for me (the short one) and two sweaters for my sons. Pattern is by Erika Knight for Rowan, and she has a similar sweater pattern (here’s another) (and for women) for sale on ravelry.
Matrix is the next distressed/dropped stitch sweater in my queue, trying to understand the pattern now as it has charts for the increases and decreases, and is fitted with dropped stitch darts.

Made gauge swatches for the Earthly sweater I’m knitting in Patons Linen yarn, got gauge in number of stitches (20st=4”) on size 7 needles, wet blocked swatch grew a bit in length but width is stable. I used to never do gauge swatches, except lately it seemed important. Waiting for bamboo needle tips to arrive, the stainless steel ones I have are too slippy and I almost had them slip out. I machine washed/tumble dried my swatches as that is how the finished sweater will be laundered and they got so nice and soft. One time I didn’t do blocked swatches, and then accidentally put my Coachella tank in Tahki Bali ribbon yarn in the washing machine and it shrunk A LOT, I am still sad about it. It had fit perfectly before the washing mishap! I have been wanting to knit the Earthly for years, hoping my son will like the sweater as much as I do. The blue gray of the Sky color way is nice.

Finished back panel of my Earthly distressed drop stitch sweater! I will look for my foam tiles to block to confirm it measures to the schematic; then block by machine wash warm and tumble dry when sweater is finally assembled. Yarn is Patons Linen (linen/cotton/viscose) in Sky colorway. Making a size larger (XL instead of Lg) in case of shrinkage when my son inevitably washes in hot water.
Kind of obsessed with drop stitches/ladders right now, planning on making the Matrix sweater (Boadecia Binnerts) next.

I taught myself to crochet last year and have been making small things, amigurumi and washcloths. These are a few recent makes, the donut is from Cute Crocheted Food and the fortune cookie (I made it into a stick pin) is from Crochet Cafe. The goldfish No Sew Cat Toys are from ravelry. I still have to refresh myself with stitch diagrams whenever I take on more than a sc, so I’m a newbie, and the Cute Crocheted Food book uses UK crochet terminology (dc=sc US) but I’m pleased with what I’ve made so far. I am a longtime knitter, so I have the hand/eye dexterity to improve quickly. I’ve been wanting to make this animal eyeglass tray I saw on red note, this looks pretty similar.
I was commissioned to make these dolls and dog for @pedalsteelnoah and am pretty happy with how they turned out, am working on a diorama for them (pedal steel guitar, Texas flag, etc), like what I made for this genie and lamp I made. So far I like working in DK weight yarn, though the Woobles kits I made used a really nice worsted yarn it was easy to see the stitches. I think it will be a while before I tackle something bigger like a garment or blanket, the largest thing I’ve made is a granny square scarf, and a jellyfish amigurumi.

Been finishing up projects in the New Year! Finished my glow-in-the-dark Hardly Harness I started in August, a latch hook pillow (started Christmas of 2019 or 2020) and am keeping a list of WIPs so they don’t get lost in the cracks. And here is a briefbag I made using vintage automotive vinyl!

The reason your crochet garments don’t have a nice drape like knitwear does is because you’re using yarn that’s too large. Use thinner yarn.
